Some posts on fb about the crash

Seems the crashed Dana plane had landing gear problems in Uyo some weeks back. I think a CLASS action lawsuit should be brought against Dana Airlines. This should teach these companies to desist from playing russian roulette with lives of innocent people.

Just last week, an Uyo-Abuja Dana plane was diverted to Lagos for hydraulic problems

The ill-fated Dana plane had been under repair for several weeks and the airline's station manager protested its use but the Indian mgt insisted it should fly!
The German stations are reporting that the plane which just crashed should never have taken off becos of its write off state and that its a wonder the plane even made it to lagos

AN MD 83 aircraft belonging to Dana Air, with 86 passengers onboard from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Thursday evening, made an emergency landing at the 19-R runway and was towed away after it blocked the international runway of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos.

The aircraft ran into problem while preparing to land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, as it suffered hydraulic pressure, a situation that forced the pilot to declare an emergency landing.

The aircraft was cleared for landing in 19-R, the longer runway, but after landing, passengers were panicky, as most of the evacuation buses did not arrive on time.

Corporate Communication Manager of Dana Air, Mr Tony Usidaimen, confirmed the incident.

“Our flight from Uyo with 86 passengers lost hydraulic pressure and when the captain noticed it, he declared an emergency and was asked to land on 19-R. Although there was no injury, there was a panic, because the evacuation team did not arrive on time,” he said.

The Director-General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr Harold Demuren, who also confirmed the incident, said he was impressed with the fact that the pilot decided to land at the longer international runway, adding that “it shows that we are getting our safety management systems right.”

This is bonkum. The foreign stations do not have access to Dana Airlines maintenance records, so how would they have know??
Are station managers more knowledgeable about planes than the pilots flying them, or the engineers working on them?

We should desist from spreading false stories! And this should NOT have made Front Page news seeing that only 1 post is there or are you using your powers as a moderator to propagate this falsehood?

most of the pilots that fly this planes are not Nigerians.. this could be false, God only knows.. but the bottom line is that the planes used in Nigeria are definitely not up to the standards. that no can deny.

Its time we start sentencing ppl to death because they caused the death of others. To avoid such things from happening, we need to get the guys that opted to fly the faulty plane. How can we be hearing bad news all the time in 9ja. It makes us uncomfortable. It not a bad idea if the company is banned from 9ja. Others will learn from it seriously. In a country that take life serious, such plane cannot be permitted to fly again instead, it sold to 9ja and we are stupid to buy.

Not only should their license be withdrawn, the owners and all those responsible for flying a faulty plane should be jailed...that is if the story is true

How could they fly a faulty plane?this is really unacceptable,I just hope our useless Govt will do something about this incident and not just tell us to "bear the loss"

This all just too painful sad.

From my knowledge of aircrash incidents, this crash looks to me like loss of hydraulic pressure. But then, the captain would have noticed it earlier and thus alerted air traffic control. So, Air traffic control probably knew about the state of the aircraft before the actual crash. Investigations should eventually show this.
Witnesses said the plane struck an electric pole before crashing. The thing is, the plane was crashing already before striking the electric pole. And it was probably gliding to its end. Apparently, hyrdaulics failed, and pilot lost control of aircraft. Aircraft didn't fall out of the sky, but simply glided into those buildings.
My point: Engine failure or loss of hyraudlics

More than 200 people die on our roads every week, there is no noise because most of them are poor. Only God knows the no of people killed in the 27 vehicles burnt two days ago there was no inquiries to ascertain the cause and prevent a reapeat cos the afffected people are mostly poor. We are all thesame before God.
Who is going to compensate the people killed in the house on which the crashed plane fell.
