This topic is archaic. Next time before you start a thread, try do some search on Nairaland to see if it already exists.

ure you actually want to know and not to make a fool of yourselves while you revel in ignorance. Of course, typographical errors are in the bible but not serious contradictions like we have in the calling of Mohammad where he himself gave four seriously conflicting accounts of his call.

Which is more doubtful? Typographical errors or inability to substantiate his call to 'prophethood'. I leave that to you.

http://www.atheists.org/christianity/contradictions.html

INTRODUCTION

It is a central dogma of all fundamental Christians that the Bible is without error. They teach this conclusion by "reasoning" that god cannot be the author of false meaning and he cannot lie. Is this true? If written by a perfect being, then it must not contradict itself, as a collection of books written by different men at different times over many centuries would be expected to contradict each other.

With this in mind, let us have a look at the Bible on several subjects.

ON THE SABBATH DAY
"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy." -- Exodus 20:8

"One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind." -- Romans 14:5

ON THE PERMANENCY OF THE EARTH
", the earth abideth for ever." -- Ecclesiastes 1:4

", the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." -- 2Peter 3:10

ON SEEING GOD
", I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved." -- Genesis 32:30

"No man hath seen God at any time, "-- John 1:18

ON HUMAN SACRIFICE
", Thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God, " -- Leviticus 18:21

[In Judges, though, the tale of Jephthah, who led the Israelites against the Ammonoites, is being told. Being fearful of defeat, this good religious man sought to guarantee victory by getting god firmly on his side. So he prayed to god] ", If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering" (Judges 11:30-31).

[The terms were acceptable to god -- remember, he is supposed to be omniscient and know the future -- so he gave victory to Jephthah, and the first whatsoever that greeted him upon his glorious return was his daughter, as god surely knew would happen, if god is god. True to his vow, the general made a human sacrifice of his only child to god!] -- Judges 11:29-34

ON THE POWER OF GOD
", with God all things are possible." -- Matthew 19:26

", The LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron." -- Judges 1:19

ON DEALING WITH PERSONAL INJURY
", thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. " -- Exodus 21:23-25

", ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also." -- Matthew 5:39

ON CIRCUMCISION
"This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised." -- Genesis 17:10

", if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing." -- Galatians 5:2

ON INCEST
"Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of this mother, " -- Deuteronomy 27:22

"And if a man shall take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, it is a wicked thing, " -- Leviticus 20:17

[But what was god's reaction to Abraham, who married his sister -- his father's daughter?] See Genesis 20:11-12

"And God said unto Abraham, As for Sara thy wife, I bless her, and give thee a son also of her, " -- Genesis 17:15-16

ON TRUSTING GOD
"A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD, " -- Proverbs 12:2

Now consider the case of Job. After commissioning Satan to ruin Job financially and to slaughter his shepherds and children to win a petty bet with Satan. God asked Satan: "Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause." -- Job 2:3

ON THE HOLY LIFE-STYLE
"Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart, " -- Ecclesiastes 9:7

", they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not, " -- 1 Corinthians 7:30

ON PUNISHING CRIME
"The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, " -- Ezekiel 18:20

"I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation, " -- Exodus 20:5

ON TEMPTATION
"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." -- James 1:13

"And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, " -- Genesis 22:1

ON FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS
"Honor thy father and thy mother, "-- Exodus 20:12

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. " -- Luke 14:26

ON RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD
", he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. " -- Job 7:9

", the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth, " -- John 5:28-29

ON THE END OF THE WORLD
"Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. " -- Matthew 16:28

"Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. " -- Luke 21:32-33

"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." -- Romans 13:11-12

"Be ye also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh." -- James 5:8

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." -- 1 John 2:18

"But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." -- 1 Peter 4:7

These words were written between 1800 and 1900 years ago and were meant to warn and prepare the first Christians for the immediate end of the world. Some words are those supposedly straight out of the mouth of the "Son of God." The world did not end 1800 or 1900 years ago. All that generation passed away without any of the things foretold coming to pass. No amount of prayer brought it about; nor ever so much patience and belief and sober living. The world went on, as usual, indifferent to the spoutings of yet another batch of doomsday prophets with visions of messiahs dancing in their deluded brains. The world, by surviving, makes the above passages contradictions.

CONCLUSION
What is incredible about the Bible is not its divine authorship; it's that such a concoction of contradictory nonsense could be believed by anyone to have been written by an omniscient god. To do so, one would first have to not read the book, which is the practice of most Christians; or, if one does read it, dump in the trash can one's rational intelligence -- to become a fool for god, in other words.

To be an Atheist, one need only be able to laugh when such obvious nonsense is offered as being "divine" truth. If you are laughing, then you belong in the only organization dedicated to determined Atheist activism -- dedicated to doing something about the intrusion of religion into all areas of our government and our private lives.

excerpts

The Bible is riddled with repetitions and contradictions, things that the Bible bangers would be quick to point out in anything that they want to criticize. For instance, Genesis 1 and 2 disagree about the order in which things are created, and how satisfied God is about the results of his labors. The flood story is really two interwoven stories that contradict each other on how many of each kind of animal are to be brought into the Ark--is it one pair each or seven pairs each of the "clean" ones? The Gospel of John disagrees with the other three Gospels on the activities of Jesus Christ (how long had he stayed in Jerusalem--a couple of days or a whole year?) and all four Gospels contradict each other on the details of Jesus Christ's last moments and resurrection. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke contradict each other on the genealogy of Jesus Christ' father; though both agree that Joseph was not his real father. Repetitions and contradictions are understandable for a hodgepodge collection of documents, but not for some carefully constructed treatise, reflecting a well-thought-out plan.

Of the various methods I've seen to "explain" these:
1. "That is to be taken metaphorically" In other words, what is written is not what is meant. I find this entertaining, especially for those who decide what ISN'T to be taken as other than the absolute WORD OF GOD--which just happens to agree with the particular thing they happen to want,

2. "There was more there than, " This is used when one verse says "there was a" and another says "there was b," so they decide there was "a" AND "b"--which is said nowhere. This makes them happy, since it doesn't say there WASN'T "a+b." But it doesn't say there was "a+b+litle green martians." This is often the same crowd that insists theirs is the ONLY possible interpretation (i.e. only "a"wink and the only way. I find it entertaining they they don't mind adding to verses.

3. "It has to be understood in context" I find this amusing because it comes from the same crowd that likes to push likewise extracted verses that support their particular view. Often it is just one of the verses in the contradictory set is suppose to be taken as THE TRUTH when if you add more to it it suddenly becomes "out of context." How many of you have goten JUST John 3:16 (taken out of all context) thrown up at you?

4. "there was just a copying/writing error" (cgift's favorite grin)This is sometimes called a "transcription error," as in where one number was meant and an incorrect one was copied down. Or that what was "quoted" wasn't really what was said, but just what the author thought was said when he thought it was said. And that's right--I'm not disagreeing with events, I'm disagreeing with what is WRITTEN. Which is apparently agreed that it is incorrect. This is an amusing misdirection to the problem that the bible itself is wrong.

5. "That is a miracle." Naturally. That is why it is stated as fact.

6. "God works in mysterious ways" A useful dodge when the speaker doesn't understand the conflict between what the bible SAYS and what they WISH it said.

God good to all, or just a few?

PSA 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

JER 13:14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the
sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but

Who is the father of Joseph?

MAT 1:16 And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who
is called Christ.

LUK 3:23 And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was
supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.

Who was at the Empty Tomb? Is it:

MAT 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of
the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

MAR 16:1 And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of
James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

Is it folly to be wise or not?

PRO 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy
getting get understanding.

ECC 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge
increaseth sorrow.

1 Cor.1:19: "For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and wil
bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent."

The sins of the father

ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers;
that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with
cities.

DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall
the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death

The bat is not a bird

LEV 11:13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls;
they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage,
and the ospray,
LEV 11:14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
LEV 11:15 Every raven after his kind;
LEV 11:16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after
his kind,

Rabbits do not chew their cud

LEV 11:6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he
is unclean unto you.

'Gerah', the term which appears in the MT means (chewed) cud, and also perhaps
grain, or berry (also a 20th of a sheckel, but I think that we can agree that
that is irrelevant here). It does *not* mean dung, and there is a perfectly
adequate Hebrew word for that, which could have been used. Furthermore, the
phrase translated 'chew the cud' in the KJV is more exactly 'bring up the cud'.
Rabbits do not bring up anything; they let it go all the way through, then eat
it again. The description given in Leviticus is inaccurate, and that's that.
Rabbits do eat their own dung; they do not bring anything up and chew on it.

Insects do NOT have four feet

LEV 11:21 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon
all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;
LEV 11:22 Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald
locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after
his kind.
LEV 11:23 But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be
an abomination unto you.

The shape of the earth

Snakes, while built low, do not eat dirt

thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy

Earth supported?

from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.

JOB 38:22 Hast thou entered into the treasures of the snow? or hast thou seen
the treasures of the hail,

Storehouses are not part of the cycle

Order of creation

Here is the order in the first (Genesis 1), the Priestly tradition:

Day 1: Sky, Earth, light
Day 2: Water, both in ocean basins and above the sky(!)
Day 3: Plants
Day 4: Sun, Moon, stars (as calendrical and navigational aids)
Day 5: Sea monsters (whales), fish, birds, land animals, creepy-crawlies (reptiles,
insects, etc.)
Day 6: Humans (apparently both sexes at the same time)
Day 7: Nothing (the Gods took the first day off anyone ever did)

Note that there are "days," "evenings," and "mornings" before the Sun was
created. Here, the Deity is referred to as "Elohim," which is a plural, thus the
literal translation, "the Gods." In this tale, the Gods seem satisfied with what
they have done, saying after each step that "it was good."

The second one (Genesis 2), the Yahwist tradition, goes:

Earth and heavens (misty)
Adam, the first man (on a desolate Earth)
Plants
Animals
Eve, the first woman (from Adam's rib)

How orderly were things created?
#1: Step-by-step. The only discrepancy is that there is no Sun or Moon or stars
on the first three "days."
#2: God fixes things up as he goes. The first man is lonely, and is not
satisfied with animals. God finally creates a woman for him. (funny thing that
an omniscient god would forget things)

How satisfied with creation was he?
#1: God says "it was good" after each of his labors, and rests on the seventh
day, evidently very satisfied.
#2: God has to fix up his creation as he goes, and he would certainly not be
very satisfied with the disobedience of that primordial couple. (funny thing
that an omniscient god would forget things)

Moses' personality

Num.12:3: "Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon
the fact of the earth."

Num.31:14, 17, 18: "And Moses was wroth, And Moses said unto them, "Have ye
saved all the women alive? , Now therefore kill every male among the little
ones, and kill every woman, , But all the women children , keep alive for
yourselves."

Righteous live?

Ps.92:12: "The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree."

Isa.57:1: "The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart."

Acts 1:18: "Now this man (Judas) purchased a field with the reward of iniquity;
and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed
out."

Matt. 27:5-7: "And he (Judas) cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and

company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people, came to hear him,
And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples and said, "

Jesus' last words

Matt.27:46,50: "And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying,
"Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?" that is to say, "My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me?" , Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the
ghost."

Luke23:46: "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, "Father, unto
thy hands I commend my spirit:" and having said thus, he gave up the ghost."

Choose thee. Either THREE YEARS OF FAMINE or three months to be destryed before

II SAMUEL 24: And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he
moved David against them to say, Go, number Isreal and Judah.

Israel.

The GENEALOGY OF JESUS?

In two places in the New Testament the genealogy of Jesus son of Mary is
mentioned. Matthew 1:6-16 and Luke 3:23-31. Each gives the ancestors of Joseph
the CLAIMED husband of Mary and Step father of Jesus. The first one starts from
Abraham(verse 2) all the way down to Jesus. The second one from Jesus all the
way back to Adam. The only common name to these two lists between David and
Jesus is JOSEPH, How can this be true? and also How can Jesus have a genealogy
when all Muslims and most Christians believe that Jesus had/has no father.

God be seen?

Exod. 24:9,10; Amos 9:1; Gen. 26:2; and John 14:9

"And the Lord spake to Moses face to face, as a man speaketh to his friend." (Ex.

"No man hath seen God at any time." (John 1:18)
"And he said, Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me and live."
(Ex. 33:20)
"Whom no man hath seen nor can see." (1 Tim. 6:16)

CRUEL, UNMERCIFUL, DESTRUCTIVE, and FEROCIOUS or KIND, MERCIFUL, and GOOD:

"I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy." (Jer. 13:14) "Now go
and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not,
but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling."

"The Lord is very pitiful and of tender mercy." (James 5:11)
"For his mercy endureth forever." (1 Chron. 16:34)
"The Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all his works." (Ps.
145:9)
"God is love." (1 John 4:16)

Tempts?

"And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham." (Gen 22:1)

"Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be
tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man." (James 1:13)

Judas died how?

"And he cast down the pieces of silver into the temple and departed, and went
out and hanged himself." (Matt. 27:5)

"And falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all of his bowels
gushed out." (Acts 1:18)

Ascend to heaven

"And Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." (2 Kings 2:11)

Son of Man." (John 3:13)

Who killed Saul

SA1 31:4 Then said Saul unto his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me

Dear Mr Oyb

please tell me have you read what you have quoted in the bible yourself? It will help if you post them one by one and then wait for answers.

I have been looking for a true Muslim that will tell me which version of the Hadith is Authentic.

Translation of Sahih Bukhari
Translation of Sahih Muslim
Translation of Malik's Muwatta
Partial Translation of Sunan Abu Dawood Under Construction for completion!
Translation of Hadith Qudsi
Translation of Al Nawawi's Forty Hadith

Please which one is Authentic then I will open a non abusive thread with you and we shall digest the tradition of the prophet of Islam.
Re: The Bible- The Great Book Of Contradictions by Backslider(m): 3:29pm On Nov 23, 2007
The Bible is not solely a compilation of direct quotes from a deity as you have in the Koran.

The Deity we worship in Christianity

Has the following

1) Action
2) feeling
3) reasoning
4) Memory
5) Character

The bible then shows the very intricate Character of God. You must have a spirit called the Holy Ghost to get it. When you use the revelation of a deity by direct quotes (no single action) as we have in the Koran then that deity is not worthy of worship.

Jesus the God of the Christians came several times in the old Testament and he now came in complete human flesh this gives him the right of Authority to Judge all that is flesh.

There are Hebrew words that still can not be translated into English today
Remember the Torah was never written in English and none of the prophets and Patriachs ever spoke english. It was originally written in what's known as the Paleo-Hebrew or ancient Hebrew.

This is what happens when the King James version's pagan translators go trying to translate YHWH'S Torah and Tanakh. YHWH'S words were never ment to be translated period.  These so called contradictions don't exist in the Hebrew Scriptures.

Furthermore, This is what happens when the RCC go adding their fake new testament to the Original testament. I can atest to this because I've been studying Ancient hebrew for 10 years and there is yet so much I've still got to learn.

Human errors, typos, plagerisim, etc, will occur whenever this happens Stealing words from the original to make the fake(NT) appear legit.

Are you saying that it is your God that was tortured by his creation, flogged, nailed to the cross, cried and begged himself, commited his spirit to himself on the cross and shouted to himself that 'why has thou forsaken me'?

Think man and stop wallowing in ignorance.

"our God is good, all the time" Thus says the xtians.
There is still this portion in the bible that gives me sleepless nights and i wonder why the xtians still do not understand how vindictive and wicked this God they worship really is.
it's in the book of deut:13 6-11 and it says;

"If your brother, the son of your father or of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the
spouse whom you embrace, or your most intimate friend, tries to secretly seduce you, saying,
"Let us go and serve other gods," unknown to you or your ancestors before you, gods of the
peoples surrounding you, whether near you or far away, anywhere throughout the world, you
must not consent, you must not listen to him; you must show him no pity, you must not spare
him or conceal his guilt. No, you must kill him, your hand must strike the first blow in putting
him to death and the hands of the rest of the people following. You must stone him to death,
since he has tried to divert you from Yahweh your God, "

whenever i read those passages, i can't understand why i got involved with this God in the first place. What kind of God is this for goodness sake?

i would be delighted if anyone can help me explain the above passages COHERENTLY.

@Ascony: Am not a Christian. So I can not help you, with any Biblical verse. However, you must never forget that whether you like it or not, you have an Overlord. That Overlord, is your creator. It is by His power you exist and enjoy all that you enjoy. My advice to you is that do not be deluded with temporary pride and arrogance. Every face shall perish, except His. Submit yourself to His wills, which are His laws and commands. Obey Him, with absolute obedience. You have no protector against Him. The end of those who reject faith will be Hellfire.

@Yisraylite: When you finish your study of the ancient Hebrew, please study Aramaic, which is probably older than it. It is probably the language that Abraham spoke, since he came out of Ur, a city, in Present day Iraq. Iraqi did not and are not speaking Hebrew, now. When you finally finish your search, you will come to find out that Islam is the true religion from God to mankind.

@Backslider: We now see that you are comparing your Bible, with the hadith/Sunnah Books. However, it is good to know it, as the truth came thumbling down from your heart! As to the Hadith/Sunnah, we have clear means of measuring the individual Hadith, as to its correctness, from very sound narration to very weak narration. It is the individual in the chain of narration; from the last person, who the writer heard it from to the last of them, who must be a companion of the Noble prophet (AS). The yardsticks, for measuring the authenticity of any hadith, therefore include, their individual honesty and accuracy of memory on one hand, with the expected character of the prophet on the other hand. Hadith does not stand on its own, it is the Prophet's explanation of the Qur'an, when the companion would ask him question, about any revealed verse. Some hadiths are recorded, by some collector(s), and are notby other(s). hadith, is at least 23 years of the life of the prophet, the period of prophethood! This will include all that was said and the Sunnah part was all that was done.

The Bible, okay, the New Testament, does not have a question and answer, between Jesus and his followers, about what was revealed, or the Message that was given to him, to deliver to his people. Infact, there is no record of the Gospel, that he preached about the places! This is the time you should think, and then make sincere repentance to your Creator, and come back to the fold of Islam, where you belong. I for one will be happy to see you back. And, am certain that your parents will be happy to see you return, to a faith that is good and sound, which gives life. Your Creator, is oft forgiven and full of mercy.

@ ascony . . . your confusion is understood. It is the blanket of blindness that satan has drawn across the eyes of those who are already condemned.

You are still stuck on the YWHW of Deuteronomy 13 . . . completely forgetting that the same YWHW has already come to give you a new spiritual covenant as epitomised in John 3:16.

While you wonder about the God of Deut 13, you completely forget the very same God who healed the sick, raised the dead and delivered the blind.

What happened to early covenant? Are you sure that the statement in John 3 v 16 was said by Jesus?

While you wonder about the God of Deut 13, you completely forget the very same God who healed the sick, raised the dead and delivered the blind.

But he was the God of the OT too. He ordered killing in the OT  but turned merciful, prince of peace in the OT. Is there any relationship?

Dont bother to be confused . . . you have the choice to cross over to the other side, allah's slaves will gladly welcome you to your chains of spiritual bondage.

Have you been reading your bible? I doubt it because if you have been, you would have come across the word' slave' or 'messenger' use for prophets and top awaken you from your slumber, go to the last book which happens to be the book of revelation and read from the beginning. When you are through, come back and tell me how John was addressed.

I will not be drawn into endless genealogies by pretending that you are remotely interested in a honest answer to your "question".

I am very sure he is interested and Iam interested as well. Dont to prove what you are known for.

Dont go off topic, people are waiting for your answer to that verse.

babs787:

What happened to early covenant? Are you sure that the statement in John 3 v 16 was said by Jesus?

The old covenant was written on tablets of stone and involved cleansing by the blood of bull and goats once a yr. The new covenant was sealed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ shed once for all on the cross of calvary and now written on the tablets of our hearts. Pls read the book of Hebrews before asking silly questions.

You should have read the book of John chapter 3 before asking that question . . . it exposes you for the dishonest person you are.

babs787:

But he was the God of the OT too. He ordered killing in the OT but turned merciful, prince of peace in the OT. Is there any relationship?

The punishment of death by execution is reserved for gruesome criminals . . . so was the same during the OT. There was a severe punishment for sin. But God in His mercy knowing that we were completely unable to stop sinning decided to come down and die on the cross, washing us clean with His blood and then dwelling in our hearts as the Holy Spirit.

OF course i dont expect you to read this with any honest bone in ur body.

lol check your dictionary . . . a messenger is NOT a slave. No where in the bible (OT or NT) are we refered to as slaves. Read this: Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

2 Corinthians 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

you cant get any clearer than that.

You should have read the book of John chapter 3 before asking that question . . . it exposes you for the dishonest person you are.

Brother, I am still asking you, do you have any proof that it was Jesus speaking there? Maybe I have to expose the lies behind this so called Gospel of John

But God in His mercy knowing that we were completely unable to stop sinning decided to come down and die on the cross, washing us clean with His blood and then dwelling in our hearts as the Holy Spirit.

Why didnt he come down then and save people rather than killing them?
He came down to die huh. Please

Who did he prayed more than two times to?

Who did he commit his spirit to?

Who did he shout to that., my God, my God, why has thou forsaken me?

lol check your dictionary . . . a messenger is NOT a slave. No where in the bible (OT or NT) are we refered to as slaves. Read this: Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Please I need the version you are quotingb for me and I wll come up with versions where Slave/ Servant were used.

2 Corinthians 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

you can't get any clearer than that.

Brother, think, what has the above verse got to do with my post?

Are you saying that there is nowhere in the bible where slave, servant are used for prophets?
Re: The Bible- The Great Book Of Contradictions by Nobody: 9:41pm On Nov 24, 2007
@ blabs787, your hypocrisy is too blatant . . . and your addled thinking is typically islamic.

Read John 3 . . . Jesus Christ was speaking to Nicodemus in a secret night meeting. It is clearly explained in the first 4 verses. Of course how can you see that?

I gave a clear verse where God categorically regards us as His sons and daughters and you ask for its relevance? How can you be so dishonest and obtuse? Go continue slaving away in your chains of islamic bondage.

When the bible uses the terms "servant" in reference to the prophets it is certainly not refering to a position of slavery.
