1. Former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu says late M.K.O Abiola should be declared the president of Nigeria posthumously to mark June 12. Meanwhile, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun State and Lagos State are observing today June 12 as public holiday and more calls are being made to make June 12 as national holiday in Nigeria.
2. Sexy Nollywood actress, Omoni Oboli has landed herself a N10 million endorsement deal with PZ Company as the face of one of their products, Venus cream.
3. It is in the news that the ousted Bayelsa State House speaker, Kombonwei Benson has been re-installed after intervention by President Goodluck Jonathan.
4. Last week, NDLEA arrested a serving counselor at Kwankiyi ward of Darago LGA of Bauchi State over drug trafficking.
5. Report has it that there was a bomb scare at Plateau State Polytechnic yesterday.
6. Sources say about 6000 Nigerians are in foreign prisons over drug related offenses.
7. Kwara State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a Dutch firm, Stylotec Concrete Industry for the construction of affordable housing 10,000 units over the next four years. The entire project will cost about N73 billion.

10. About 27 people died when unknown gunmen attacked a remote area of Zamfara State yesterday. It has not yet be ascertained if the attack was carried out by Islamic group, Boko Haram
11. TODAY IN HISTORY: Today June 12 is being marked as World Child Day against Labour to address the issues of under-aged workers in the world.

12. Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State is making plans to establish football clubs in primary and secondary schools in the state to groom young talents.
13. Super Eagles of Nigeria will arrive Calabar today in preparations ahead of 2013 Africa Nations Cup qualifying match with Rwanda on Sunday this week.

FLASH BACK NEWS:

14. Runway lights at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja went off on June 8, 2012 evening stalling the landing and taking off of planes. All the international planes that were meant to land at the airport in Abuja were re-routed to Lagos and Port Harcourt. Lufthansa, British Airways, and Air France flights had to land in Lagos where passengers where offered accommodation, while an Arik Flight coming from Port Harcourt was forced to return to Port-Harcourt.

15. The Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Accident Investigation Bureau, Capt. Muktar Usman told newsmen on June 8, 2012 that a team of accident investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board in the US has arrived Nigeria to be part of the ongoing investigation of Dana Air plane crash that killed 153 people on board and over 10 people on ground at Iju-Ishaga in Lagos on Sunday June 3rd.
