What happens for browsers that don't fully support html5 (I am thinking specifically < IE9)? I think the solution here is a combination of front end (javascript) and back end (php, etc).

Google for "livevalidation". Though plenty of others exist, that's what I use for front end validation. It has worked for me for the past 4 or so years. It provides validation for all fields and special cases of such fields (email addresses, etc)

Use jQuery Validation they work well and quite simple. HTML5 Validation is the last thing you should rely on, i use Dojo Validations but use what u're comfortable with.

whatever you're doing, never forget backend validation...frontend can always be bypassed. Thats why i always develop a website completely before adding javascript stuffs.

You can search with keyword like: name and email validation script, javascript form script, frontend validated form script.

None of them will be simple. What you need to do is follow the tutorials or just install the script as you downloaded it, and build your page(s) from there.

and also add support for incase JS is disabled because i skipped that, will ave to do that, how do u disable javaScript on Chrome.
