Make sure you don't buy a Ssang- Yong or Isuzu. They are all SUVs cheaper than N1m.

The best bet is to get someone to buy it from one of these car auctions in the United States.You can get a good SUV for about 5,000 dollars which is about 800,000 naira.

But what happens when the car lands Nigeria and our Custom boyz decide to "seize it" for non-payment of import duty!
Or ask him to go and pay some 30% value as import Tax?

Hmmm......I will suggest he still keeps his money and work harder...to avoid heart ache!

5000$$ = 820K Naira . . . Shipping and Clearing and transportation to the port and from the port as well as sending BOL and money transfer charges will be another almost 4000$$ = over 600K Naira . . . Do the math.
But dont get me wrong, there are some rides that could land in Nigeria for 1M Naira. . . Just your calculations will not work

I don't know a whole lot about cars, but going from experience, One Mil. is enough to fetch you a decent SUV.
I drive a Toyota Rav 4J 1998 model, and I got it at 900k +. It still looks sleek and sharp, and came with 4 wheels drive. Did I mentioned that it's also fully automatic.

I feel your best bet will be a Toyota Rav4 of 1998 with the price range you have in mind. Watch out for SUV that have recall issues, it could be a lemon.

Yes he can get a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder for that amount and even get change here in Lagos. A friend bought one two years ago and the car is still in good condition. I have another friend who bought a 1998 Ford Explorer for that amount last year
