Answer: Your beliefs are widely held but let's look at some facts.

The Marxists in Russia, China, etc killed 110(?) million in the last century alone. Germany lit the world on fire 2X in the last century and was responsible for the deaths of (80?) million. So in the last century politics caused the death of 200 million people in just one 100 year stretch.

false Christianity(Example Catholics), Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, (and Mongols, Huns, Romans, Spaniards, etc) are quite willing to kill and oppress for their beliefs or for wealth and power.

Look beyond religion. Politicians, mafia's, and most groups of people with concentrated power are quite adept at mass murder.

All this points to the fact that your lens is way to small. If you want to know the guilty party look in the mirror. We have met the enemy and he is us. We are by nature, all to willing to oppress and kill our fellow man for belief, for power, for gold, and a host of other reasons.

We are flawed to the core and we desperately need a someone to fix our corrupted nature. God has brought him. . .Jesus.

If your heart and nature have not been turned inside out by God then this will make no sense to you.

If we focus on the original cult (Jewish) and the Old Testament, I agree with you, Catholicism is born of paganism.
But do not forget us, that Catholicism takes the foundations of Judaism. Jesus was a Jew, and his struggle was not to create a new religion, but to change the Jewish religion.
In that sense that I say that Catholicism has Jewish roots.
Then, of course ... Catholicism takes elements pagans; pagan cults, pagan dates ... and with that combination, creates a sect that serious organized ends in the fourth century by Constantine.
Subsequently, the Catholic sect, broke off another sect, devoid of religion and doctrine of their own, with different currents of conflicting interpretations among themselves, called "Christianity."
