Jokes Etc / Vox Pop: Can You Spell Lamborghini? by agupearl: 1:23pm On Jun 01, 2018
Imagine if you can own something only if you can spell it. If that is the case only a few people would own “TAG Heuer” wrist watches, rhinoceroses or even own a “conscience” for that matter. As we have come to find out, the same goes for Lamborghini cars.

Jokes Etc / VOX POP: What Does C.A.R Stand For? by agupearl: 1:39pm On May 25, 2018
It seems every three letter word in the automotive industry is an acronym for something else. SUV stands for Sports Utility Vehicle, AWD stands for All Wheel Drive, BMW stands for Bavarian Motor Works and the list goes on and on. We played with the idea that people might believe that CAR stands for something. Watch Video Here:

Romance / 7 Best Things To Do After Being Dumped by agupearl: 3:42pm On Sep 14, 2017
No matter where you are in your life or how old and matured you are, every heartbreak hurts as if it’s the first one. Well, am sure it’s a little different for some who get their hearts stomped on every day. However, for most of us, it’s a pain that we have to carry and a wound that we have to heal.

Some go about their lives carrying the weight of the heavy heart while others take the brave step of moving on. While there’s no proven antidote or cure for these aching hearts, there are some things that can make it feel a little better.

1. Talk About It!
While you may feel like shutting yourself out completely and maintaining no contact with anyone, the very opposite of it will definitely make you feel better. Take your time, have a good cry but reach out as soon as you can. It could be a friend or a relative – doesn’t matter. Talking about it will take matters off your chest and through your own discourses, you will be able to see why it failed and may be that will bring some closure.

2. Hang Out With Friends
Now that your calendar is free, reach out to people you have always canceled on. Grab every opportunity of socializing and go for it. Free time would mean an idle mind and that’s what you have to avoid.

3. Do Something Dramatic
It could be a new hairstyle or it could be moving to a new city – there is always something that we put off because our partner may not be fully on board. May be to get that tattoo you have always wanted. Any change will distract you for a while and it will make you feel better about yourself.

4. Get Rid Of Old Memories

We are not saying burn and flush (although that’s not a bad idea) but do keep things that remind you of them out of your sight. May be to ask a friend to hold on to these things till you are ready to deal with them. You know it’s over and you miss them but there’s no need for a constant reminder. By now, you would have their number memorized but trust us, it’s always best to not see them pop up on your WhatsApp. Don’t follow them on social media, it will only make you feel worse. After the initial phase of drunk calling, crying and begging (which is a part of the process), you should delete all traces of them. At least you know, you tried but now it’s time to let that go.

Romance / 8 Silly Reasons Why People In Nigeria Get Married by agupearl: 5:33pm On Aug 10, 2017
There’s absolutely wrong with getting married. Marriage is a personal choice. But whats disturbing is how we look at marriage especially in Nigeria. Yes, we Nigerians are obsessed with marriage and for all the wrongs reasons. This only goes to show how mistaken we are about the vague idea of “settling down” but also proves how we trust things going on around us.

We discussed some of the ridiculous reasons why people decide to get married.

1. Talk to any Nigerian parent and they will make you believe that marriage is the ultimate solution to all of life’s problem. Is your son been a baby boy? Is he partying too much? Get him married! Is your daughter in a new relationship with someone? Marriage will set her right. The marriage union has ceased to be a scared bond between two people and now instead feels like a disciplinary institution.

2. Due to the religious frown to Pre-martial sex in Nigeria, Nigerian youths reach their mid-twenties with their sexual frustration skyrocketing over the ceiling. Let’s all call a spade a spade but a lot of Nigerians get married solely because they cannot wait to get laid. Yes, for many, marriage is nothing more than a license to have regular sex. And this is had resulted to more dangerous results than we can possible phantom such as marital rape. Men feel entitled to sex when they want it and the way they want it, no matter whether if they have the consent of their wife or not.

3. Marriage is a compulsion in Nigeria. We grow up witnessing everyone around us getting married and believing marriage is a stage every adult has to go through. Sometimes it feels like we were raised with the mindset that marriage is the ultimate goal in life. We never get the chance to form our opinion about marriage. And we end up taking the dive not because we want to, but because we think we have to because that’s what everyone seems to be doing.

4. The fear of staying single is one of the silly reasons why people get married in Nigeria. We’re made to believe that not finding ‘the one’ by the time you’re 30 then you are going to die alone. So because of this fear we rush to meet a handful of people and choose by the process of elimination. This is wrong on some levels!

Romance / 14 Signs That You Are With The Guy You Want To Marry by agupearl: 8:00pm On Jul 29, 2017
1. He always brags about you. If you get a promotion at work or even just win concert tickets he can’t resist telling everyone you hang out with before you even think to mention it. Because he’s your biggest fan (arguably next to your mom).

2. He makes sacrifices for you — and you’re happy to do the same for him. He’ll move cities to live with you if you get a new job. You’re happy to make the next move for one of his opportunities.

3. He shares the same values as you. You know you both want kids and expect to split the childcare equally. Or maybe you know you both want kids and he wants to take extended paternity leave. You know you’re on the same page with things that matter most to you because you’ve discussed them.

4. Even after years together he still does little chivalrous things for you. Like open doors for you or carry you to your doorstep when your feet hurt after wearing high heels all day and you just can’t bear to walk one more block.

5. He doesn’t try to change you. He knows you’re messier than him, and can’t cook to save your life, and all of that is all right by him.

6. When you think about marrying him, the best part isn’t the wedding, it’s the idea of spending your lives together. The wedding is fun, but you really can’t wait for the two weeks right after when you’ll get uninterrupted honeymoon time.

7. “I miss you” isn’t just a sweet thing you say. It’s a reality. Even if it hasn’t been that long (like two hours) since you saw each other.

Romance / 13 Sex Facts You Need In Your Life That You Don’t Know by agupearl: 11:33am On Jul 28, 2017
Even if you consider yourself a total sexpert, there is always something new to learn about sex. From all the crazy ways it can improve your health to the downright weird things that happen during the act, read on for everything you could possibly want to know about getting busy. Plus, we promise it will be a lot more fun than sex ed ever was.

An apple a day can boost your sex life. According to one study, women who ate the fruit once a day had the higher sexual quality of life. Plus, apples are delicious, so it’s a win-win.

It can make you feel better when you’re sick, too.
Studies show that arousal and orgasm boost your immune system. And while this means sex could be good for you when you’re feeling a little under the weather, definitely know when to opt for some chicken soup and some sleep over a little sexual healing.

Sex reduces stress. On top of obvious, ahem, physical benefits, research shows that getting busy calms nerves, lower blood pressure, and reduces stress. Grab your partner before that big presentation at work—in one study, participants who had sex before a public speaking experiment were the least stressed.

Hooking up can lead to marriage. You might think that hooking up and settling down are mutually exclusive, but it turns out that one-third of married couples were originally a hookup, according to a report from the National Marriage Project. Okay, so every one night stand might not be marriage material, but hey—don’t count out the possibility.

Love makes for better sex. A recent study presented at the annual meeting of the American Sociological Association found that the most mind-blowing sex comes with being in love with your partner.

Lube makes it easier to orgasm. If you’re having trouble getting off, all your problems might be solved with one simple addition to the bedroom: lube. Nearly 50 percent of men and women who used lube said it made it easier to have an orgasm, according to a study out of Indiana University’s Center for Sexual Health Promotion. Easiest sex hack ever.

Speaking of lube, you can use coconut oil for that.
If you’re a health buff, chances are you already know that coconut oil can be used for just about everything. Another thing to add to the list of its many functions: a great DIY lubricant. It’s all-natural, long-lasting and even anti-fungal. Who knew?

TV/Movies / Reasons Why “wonder Woman” Success Could Lead To More Female Centered Movies by agupearl: 1:42pm On Jul 25, 2017
Box Office definitely loved “Wonder Woman” and welcomed it with open arms. Let us count the ways in Box Office loved “Wonder Woman”

First, in its opening weekend “Wonder Woman” earned over $100 million in North America thanks in part to nearly universal support from the critical community. But that was just the beginning. Patty Jenkins’ movie went on to become the top earning live-action film directed by a woman, and passed earnings of its fellow DC Comics movies “Suicide Squad” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

This Weekend alone “Wonder Woman” added to its growing list of accomplishments as the highest grossing movie of the summer by earning $389 million from the domestic market

It’s also the second largest earner of 2017 behind another film centred on a female protagonist, “Beauty and the Beast” ($504 million domestic). As conversation surrounding gender equality and equity in Hollywood reaches a fever pitch, the fact that these two films are leading the box office at the midway point hammer home a point that has been made before, but should be made again — female-led and centered films don’t just have a place in the marketplace, they’re key to the profit-making equation. But will Hollywood notice?

Recent studies have hinted that maybe Hollywood is already leaning towards that direction.

There has been some progress toward making female protagonists more visible, according to a recent report from the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film at San Diego State University. The study found that females made up 29% of protagonists in the 100 highest-grossing films of 2016, a 7% rise from 2015 and recent historical high. Still, that’s far from reflecting a demographic that makes up more than half of the population.

Hollywood’s gender issue is further complicated, though, when it comes to directors. The same institution released another recent report that found women made up only 7 percent of all directors working on the 250 highest-grossing domestic releases in 2016. That represented a decline of two percentage points from the year before.

And then there’s qualitative data. A survey from the Sundance Institute and Women in Film found women are far more likely to work in independent film than on mainstream studio movies. Of those surveyed, 44% said female directors are perceived to make films for a subset and/or less significant portion of the marketplace. Tell that to Patty Jenkins.

“Wonder Woman” and “Beauty and the Beast” may be two vastly different films, but that’s also part of the point — a movie with a woman or women at the centre can and should be many different things. And even as women occupy space at the very top of the box office in recent years, there is plenty of room for more diversity. The women at the centre of movies that have reached the top tier of box office success in recent years have been white, including Felicity Jones in “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and Jennifer Lawrence in the “Hunger Games” movies.
