Family / Re: My Personal Observation About Nigerian "Adults" by Archmage(m): 6:40am On May 28, 2023
It is called mimetic desire, a human phenomenon where we only want what other people have.

CuriousCart:
I have noticed that most Nigerians are adults by age only and not thought. 80% of adults lack a clue about their next move and direction.

They usually copy what other successful people around them are doing on the surface.

If a colleague buys a car, they start getting worked up until they also buy a car. If a neighbour opens a shop for his wife they rush to open a shop too. If their friend is into tech, they abandon their budding career and start taking tech courses upandan.

I think the copiers do this because they believe mimicking will make them reach the same goals as the person but they fail to realize that life doesn't work that way because there are many unseen events and efforts that may have led to the copyee's success.

The colleague who bought a car may have been gifted by a sugar daddy or recently lost a parent and inherited the car while you are planning to use your entire savings plus loan.
The neighbour opening a shop may have had 15 years experience in that biz line while you just want to dive into it blindly.
The tech guy may just have the brains for it while you are more likely to succeed at sales.

Finally, when they are done copying and don't achieve the same successful result as the copyee, the next thing is to accuse him/her of using juju and using people's destiny to succeed.

Just do you.

Culture / Re: Nigeria Bans Foreign Models & Voice-Over Artists In Advertisements by Archmage(m): 12:27am On Aug 31, 2022
I guess it is an extension of the protectionist orientation of the current regime. It is likely to do more harm than good. It would have been better to create conditions that allow local models and talent to thrive and become globally competitive to the extent that it is a no-brainer to use Nigerian talent. The use of Nigerian music stars for campaigns has become a no-brainer not because the government banned the use of foreign music stars.

The more we mindlessly close our economy and businesses to foreign exposure without creating ideal conditions for local content to develop, the worse things may get. What happens to the use of stock images and AI-generated voices?

GAZZUZZ:

This vehicle comes in 2 types.

One made for the Nigerian market without a purge valve (very popular)

And one made for other markets with a purge valve.

The problem is when you replace the engine ECU and what you put is not for our market, it starts looking for devices that do not exist .

Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate your response. It means that changing the ECU to the ideal one will solve this and other issues.

Oga Gazzuzz, pls I need help locating the purge valve of hyundai elantra 2010.

It threw up a code p0449 after scanning that the purge valve circuit is open.

The mecho guy says in his experience, the car does not use a purge valve at all.

The engine type is attached. The guides I see online for locating the purge valve are for another engine type.

I loved the energy and aggression, especially with 50/50 balls. They played like a team that was given instructions. We could see that in how the ball always found its way to Moses Simon and how the midfield was choked against the pharaohs.

Did I say he did not build the team? Having a team this talented makes Rohr's inefficacy more damning. Why build a team if you don't have the tactical nous to deploy them effectively?

You've got potential to be super great at drawing. Keep practising and never stop getting better.

Investment / Cordros Asset Management Set To Launch A Dollar Mutual Fund by Archmage(m): 8:48pm On Nov 05, 2019
Cordros Asset Management Limited (CAML) on Friday 1st of November 2019, held a signing ceremony for her proposed Dollar Fund following approval of offer documents by the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC).

The signing ceremony is a key milestone as it implies that the Cordros Dollar Mutual Fund will be offered to the public in the coming weeks.

The Group Managing Director at Cordros, Mr. Wale Agbeyangi speaking at the signing ceremony noted that "The Cordros Dollar will help investors diversify their portfolio while also helping those with US Dollar obligations hedge against currency risk. The Fund's objective is to achieve capital appreciation in short to medium term for investors with USD and convertible currencies".

In a similar vein, Mrs. Morenike Da-Silva, the Managing Director of Cordros Asset Management Limited stated that "With the Cordros Dollar Fund, investors who have been discouraged by the high entry levels for US Dollar based investments will now have easier, convenient access".

"We believe that the Cordros Dollar Fund provides professional management and will help investors hedge their savings from the eroding effects of inflation as the underlying assets are high-quality Eurobonds and USD money market instruments ." Said Adegbolahan Aina, the Portfolio Manager.

The Cordros Dollar Fund is coming at a time when speculations are surrounding the strength of the Naira and investors are looking to diversify with investments denominated in foreign currency. With an initial fund size of $2million, the Fund will be offering 20,000 units at $100 each with a minimum subscription of 5 Units ($500). The Fund will be open-ended meaning investors can continuously add new subscriptions.

Having earlier launched Nigeria's first ever Target Date Balanced Funds with Cordros Milestone Funds 2023 & 2028 in 2018 as well as the Cordros Money Market Fund in 2016, the Cordros Dollar Fund is another addition that strengthens Cordros Asset Management Limited's position as a growth-oriented investment manager, who continuously offers investors a wide array of sound Investment solutions.
