Nairaland / General / Nigerian Aircraft Fails To Land, Returns To Lagos After Reaching Destination by Franklin242(m): 8:50am On Jan 15, 2018
Arik air flight traveling from Lagos to Asaba, Delta State, made a sudden turn midair on Friday evening after it reached its destination but was told that the airport was “closed for the day”.

Flight W3 628 had to return to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, with the disappointed passengers.

The spokesperson of the airline, Olabanji Ola, who confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES, said, “when the pilot approached the Asaba Airport, the control tower told him it would be too late for the aircraft to take off again if it lands in the airport."

“The airport is for daylight operation because it does not have traffic lighting. So, there’s a particular time if the pilot enters the airport the plane would not be able to take off again because of sunset,” Mr. Ola said.

The incident happened around 6.15 p.m., he said.

The spokesperson said that Arik was very well aware of the limitation at the Asaba Airport, but that “the normal time the airport is supposed to close which the airport gave us is 6.30 p.m.”.

He, however, said that the airline was not liable for any damage the passengers may have suffered because of the incident.

“What has happened is a force majeure, the airline is not liable. In this circumstances, what we did was to reschedule the flight for next day."

“It is not as if we have canceled the flight. Any passenger that is not ready to be on the flight again, we will refund the fare,” Mr. Ola said.

Chidinma Aniakor, one of the passengers on the Arik flight, was said to have resorted to traveling by night in a bus from Lagos to Asaba in order to meet up with an important engagement.

Nairaland / General / Former Nigerian First Lady Patience Jonathan Loses In Court Of Appeal $5.9m by Franklin242(m): 9:54am On Jan 13, 2018
The Lagos division of the Court of Appeal has dismissed the ex-first lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan's application challenging the interim forfeiture issued against the $5.9 million slush funds she hid in different banks.

Justice Owoade Mojeed who gave the lead judgment today on January 12, 2018, held that the application lacked merit, thus resolved in favor of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos had ordered the temporary forfeiture of the money to the Federal Government as the former first lady could not explain how she legitimately came about the funds.

Following the ruling, the former First Lady, through her counsel, Ifedayo Adedipe approached the Appellate court to overturn the interim forfeiture order by Justice Olatoregun.

Politics / Fayose Rallies Ekiti Hunters Against Herdsmen Invasion (photos) by Franklin242(m): 8:31am On Jan 12, 2018
Sounding the battle cry while hosting some hunters at the Government House pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, the governor said intelligence report available to him revealed that “Bororo” herdsmen had surreptitiously entered the state.

Fayose, who wore a camouflage shirt, a pair of trousers and a fez cap to match “to reflect the mood of the nation”, urged the hunters to go back home and defend the people.

Apart from the local hunters, other residents who showed up at the forum were the revered farmers, popularly called the Agbekoya, vigilance groups and other residents from the Tiv, Idoma and Igede ethnic groups in Benue State.

The event was highlighted by an intermittent firing of gunshots, whistling, and songs by the hunters.

Fayose, who sympathized with the people of Benue State, where scores have been killed by suspected herdsmen, promised not to allow his people to be slain, as done in the Northcentral state.

The governor claimed that the alleged plan to invade Ekiti was to make the state ungovernable for him ahead of the July 14 governorship election.

He said the situation in Benue and Taraba states showed that “President Buhari lacks the capacity to protect Nigerians”.

Fayose said: “I have received letters that the Bororos have entered our reserves; they want to violate our laws. I want to call the attention of the Federal Government that they have come and wanted to kill men, women, and kids in Ekiti. We will not allow that to happen here in Ekiti."

“I want you all, our hunters, to go back today to protect your people. Be vigilant, open your eyes and make sure that everybody entering the state are screened."

“No one in the guise of grazing should enter our land after 8 p.m. For our brothers who harbor criminals, tell them Ekiti is a no-go area. If your plan is to make this state ungovernable, you are wasting your time."

“I have called this meeting for everyone to be vigilant. I will begin to support you now to secure Ekiti. Don’t let them take you by surprise; don’t allow them to take Ekiti by storm."

“Go to the farms and keep vigil; don’t just entertain visitors who come in the night. Screen them. We don’t want visitors in our reserves at 8 p.m.”

He added: “This (camouflage) dressing is done to charge our hunters to secure the state. I saw pictures of the killings (in Benue) and I wonder if those were human beings. I asked the question if people could be that wicked to kill human beings that way. They will find no peace. It is no tribal killings, but that of mindless people."

“The blood of the departed will find those people and they won’t know peace. It is the duty of the federal government to protect its people. We are not protected."

“We have never had it so bad. People must come to leadership with a conscience. The federal government should have sent the Army and not the police.

“Governor (Samuel) Ortom should fasten his belt and protect his people. Those seeking help in Abuja would not find it because Abuja also needs help. I sympathize with you (Benue) people; nobody will kill you. You are all safe here.”

Fayose gave out telephone hotlines through which people who notice strange movements can call for urgent attention.

Celebrities / Davido's Aide, Kayode, Beats Airport & Customs Officials, Davido Runs, Hides by Franklin242(m): 8:22am On Jan 12, 2018
Davido’s Crew Members Attack Customs, Baggage Check Officials At Lagos Airport

Activities were temporarily halted this evening at the arrival section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, following the unruly behaviour of some aides of the Nigerian musician, David Adeleke aka Davido.

One of the aides of Davido whose name was simply given as "Kayode" a became upset and beat up an official at the airport who asked him to produce his baggage tags at the airport today, later beat up officials of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Aviation Security (AVSEC), a department under the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and a staff of Checkport over an attempt to check the tags on the checked luggage of Davido on an Emirates flight.

It was gathered that Davido who had arrived the country through an Emirates flight around 5 pm, had 17 checked luggage, which the aides refused to allow the officials of the Checkport verify with the attached tags.

Crisis broke out when a Checkport staff at the airport attempted to verify some of the checked luggage with the attached tags, but, rather than allow the staff to carry out his official duty, the aide (Kayode) insisted that he would not allow him to verify the luggage, which after much arguments and insistence, led to fisticuffs.

Kayode punched the Checkport staff on the face, which attracted other security officials at the terminal who immediately attempted to arrest the aide.

But, rather than obey, he resisted arrest and pummelled another airport staff at the baggage claim area.

When he seemed uncontrollable, the security officials mobilized and forced him to a restricted area within the terminal known as "tango city." Tango City is a place where touts and unruly persons are detained within the terminal before being transferred to a police station for further a possible interrogation and possible prosecution.

At Tango City, the aide allegedly continued his attacks on security officials by hitting a female AVSEC official who was taking notes of the incident in the tummy and later pushed another Customs personnel who landed awkwardly and cut his wrist in the industrial fan in the area.

As all these were going on, Davido was aware of the on-going crisis inside the terminal ran to hide in a car outside the terminal where he awaited the release of his aides and luggage in vain having mobilized some officials with cash to take care of the problem.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the entire 17 luggage belonging to Davido are yet to be released to him and information gathered indicated that one of the luggage might contain a huge sum of cash in foreign currencies.

As at the time of filing in this report, it was not clear if the aide had been transferred to the State CID as threatened by the security officials, but it can be established that the luggage are still being withheld by airport security officials.

The eyewitness said: “Whenever Davido arrives the airport, he usually leave his check-in luggage for his aides to clear. Immediately he arrives on a flight, he goes out and will start doling out money outside the terminal.

“Today, he arrived as usual with several luggage and about 17 in all. The rule is that whenever you arrive, you are expected to release your tags to the Checkport staff for confirmation and verification, but rather than comply with the simple rule, one of his aides insisted he won’t allow them to check the tags.

“He rebuffed everyone who were carrying out their lawful duties and resorted to attack the officials. No fewer than four officials were beaten by the person in question with at least two of them soaked in blood.

“When he was uncontrollable, he was bundled into the cell and he insisted that he must be taken to a police station. This however, attracted Davido’s attention who was already out of the terminal. He had to return, but the security officials refused to hand over the luggage to him. One of the luggage we even gathered contained some money in foreign currencies.”

Crime / Texas Couple Sentenced To Jail For Enslaving Nigerian Woman by Franklin242(m): 7:52am On Jan 10, 2018
A U.S. couple will go to jail after holding a Nigerian woman captive as an unpaid maid and nanny for two years in a Houston, Texas suburb, restricting her movements and threatening her if she objected, authorities said on Monday.

The husband and wife will pay restitution of more than $100,000 to the victim, whom they lured from Lagos with promises of wages that were never paid, according to the Office of Acting U.S. Attorney Abe Martinez, Reuters reports.

Sandra Nsobundu, 49, pleaded guilty to a forced labor documents charge and her husband Chudy Nsobundu, 57, pleaded guilty to visa fraud in hearings that ended late on Friday, the office said in a statement.

The victim was rescued in October 2015 after a tip to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center.

She had been living for more than two years with the Nsobundu family in Katy, Texas, officials said.

During that time, the Nsobundus kept the woman’s passport from her, did not pay her and threatened to send her back to Nigeria if she objected.

They restricted her movements to two short walks each day around the block with their children and frequently yelled at her and berated her, officials said.

The couple had helped falsify a U.S. visa application for the victim with lies to boost the chances that it would be approved and hide that she would be working illegally as a housemaid and nanny, officials said.

Among the falsehoods, the application portrayed her as married and as 20 years older than she was, officials said. It also falsely claimed she was related to the Nsobundu family.

Sandra and Chudy Nsobundu each will serve sentences of seven months in jail and seven months home confinement, and they will pay more than $121,000 in restitution to the victim, officials said.

Crime / How Uk-based Nigerian Prey On Believers With Claims Of Curing Deadly Diseases by Franklin242(m): 7:42am On Jan 10, 2018
A Sun investigation reveals the lavish worlds of Britain's loaded pastors including plush mansions, a £120k birthday party and worshippers thrust thousands of direct debit forms a week

THESE are the mega-rich messengers of God whose churches are raking in millions from their worshippers in some of the poorest parts of Britain.

Pastors Matthew Ashimolowo and Alex Omokudu live in sprawling seven-figure mansions while their huge congregations are told to hand over money often straight from their salaries.

Meanwhile, the preachers lead services in which it is claimed people have been cured of life-threatening illnesses - some of them on the spot.

The Sun found Omokudu continues to promote videos such as one claiming a young boy has been cured of cancer while the pastor places his hands on him. His church has been warned by authorities about potentially exploiting people with serious illnesses.

We witnessed worshippers being told "God wants you to give all your money to him" and warned about showing "disobedience to God" before being handed direct debit forms.

The pastors claim to share their wealth with those who need it but we can reveal the financial dealings which have seen them acquire lavish lifestyles most worshippers can only dream of.

Pastor 'with healing powers from God' lives in £2m mansion as deprived worshippers told 'give your money to Him'

Pastor Alex Omokudu claims to be "heavily anointed with healing powers from God" and his church takes more than £1million a year in donations from his devoted following.

Omokudu moved to the UK from Nigeria in 2002 and launched Victorious Pentecostal Assembly (VPA) three years later.

Today, the 53-year-old - who is called Daddy by his flock - owns a lavish £2million nine-bedroom mansion in leafy Hornchurch, Essex.

The lavish gated mansion includes five reception rooms, a swimming pool, a sauna and a 250ft garden.

He also owns a second £600,000 property a short distance away.

Despite his luxurious lifestyle, his website states: "My wealth belongs to the people, whatever I have I give out. People are suffering and need help."

Omokudu's nine-bedroom mansion in Essex
The Sun Uk
Meanwhile, worshippers are effectively leaned on to empty their pockets to 'the God of VPA'.

The main church in Barking, East London, is attended by around 5,000 worshippers every week and lies within one of the most deprived areas in the UK.

VPA also operates in run-down parts of Birmingham, Manchester, Bradford and Luton.

Our reporter attended a service at VPA's Barking church and joined thousands of people repeatedly told: "Give your money to God to get ahead of others".

The service started with a number of testimonies of people claiming to have experienced miracles after praying to 'the God of VPA' and requests from those looking for help.

One teenager about to sit his A-level exams was told: "When you enter that exam hall, God will fill your head with the answers".

The congregation was then read a passage from 2 Kings 4 in which a woman finds herself in debt and is told to collect empty containers from her neighbours which God fills with oil to sell.

"Give your money to God to get ahead of others... give your money to God to get ahead of others" repeats the pastor.

A number of similar phrases were repeated as the volume of the music grew slowly in the converted office block.

The pastor added: "God wants you to give all your money to Him.. give all your money to Him.

"There is no excuse not to give your money to God... he sees any money you have coming. You cannot hide money from God.

"The church of VPA and Pastor Alex Omokudu will deliver you prosperity."

As the music built to a crescendo, direct debit forms emerged - and worshippers were told to come to the front and "pay your tithes".

But while vowing to serve the congregation who hand over £1m-a-year, Omokudu also personally takes an annual £102,000 in rent for the church they worship in.

Our investigation found Omokudu bought the property for £1m with the help of a loan from London-based Kenyan national called Kennedy Kulei.

The pastor - who previously described separation as a sin - divorced from his wife of 15 years Patricia last year and three months later married a Russian woman nearly 30 years his junior.

He explained the decision to his followers, saying in an interview: "I have already remarried. I did not want to remarry but God said I should get out of it and consoled me."

A rent-free £1.1m home, an army of 1,000 unpaid volunteers and lavish spending sprees with church cash including a £120k birthday party

Matthew Ashimolwo, 65, launched Kingsway International Christian Centre in 1992 from a rented hall.

Twenty-five years later the church also has £16.4m in assets, £500,000 in the bank and rakes in more than £8m in revenue a year.

Videos show him asking his worshippers to place their hands on parts of their body where they are afflicted by diseases before saying "every sickness and disease in your body I command it to leave you" before telling them "you have no sicknesses and diseases".

KICC - which mainly operates in Walthamstow and the recently-acquired 'Prayer City' building in Chatham, Kent - takes £6.3m a year from tithing, where the congregation gives up 10 per cent of its salary.

The church also has an army of 1,000 volunteers who provide it with more than 300,000 hours of free labour, worth more than £2m-a-year.

But while claiming to 'pass on his riches' Ashimolowo - described as the church's 'founder, visionary and senior pastor' - lives rent free in a £1.1m nine-bedroom home in Romford, Essex, owned by the church.

Documents obtained by The Sun show the property was purchased by the charity with no mortgage.

The Nigerian-born pastor lives with wife Yemisi, 58, who is also a senior pastor at the church and believed to earn more than £60,000-a-year from her role.

The couple owns a second £600,000 home in Grays, Essex, currently lived in by their son.

Ashimolowo has previously been found by the Charity Commission to have used church funds to pay for a £120,000 birthday party for himself at a London hotel, an £80,000 new Mercedes and a £13,000 Florida timeshare.

He was also paid around £50,000-a-year by the church for 'pastoral services' before the 2005 probe found he had flouted charity rules by being a trustee and paying himself a salary.

The Charity Commission found there had been 'serious misconduct and mismanagement' of charity funds and told it to establish itself as a new charity with new trustees - which it did.

More than £500,000 was also legally paid by the church to his own private companies including Matthew Ashimolowo Media Ministries which publishes books and DVDs of his teachings.

Accounts show the publishing company raked in more than £2 million - making a profit of £877,000 - between 1999 and 2005 before it started filing less detailed financial statements under Companies House rules.

Speaking about his wealth in an interview this year, Ashimolowo said: "Money is called currency because it flows to where it is celebrated, to wherever it is respected and showed it is needed and can be handled well.

"Anything God blesses me with I just use to bless others. I don’t stack it somewhere."

But when Sun Online attended his church, a run-down converted cinema in Walthamstow, East London, more than 10 miles from Ashimolowo's plush home, the service felt more like a sales pitch.

The sermon, entitled 'The Power of the Tithe', listed 14 reasons why worshippers should donate 10 per cent of their income to the church.

Ashimolowo told the congregation: "If you do not pay the tithe, it is like you do not really trust God".

He labelled the money an "insurance against Satan" and warned of the dire consequences of non-payment.

The millionaire - estimated to be worth around £6 million by Forbes magazine in 2011 - says refusal to hand over hundreds of pounds a month will be seen by God as "disobedience" and result in it making "impossible for him to release your harvest".

Politics / Court Stops I.G.P From Aiding Cash-strapped Emeka Offor To To Sell Wife's Assets by Franklin242(m): 2:22pm On Jan 07, 2018
Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Thursday, gave an order of interim injunction restraining the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, from using his office to assist cash-strapped government contractor, Emeka Offor, to sell off assets of Centrepoint Network Limited, a company owned by his deceased wife, Joy Chukwureh-Offor. The court also restrained Mr. Offor from taking over the management of the company pending the hearing and determination of the company's motion on notice for interlocutory injunction.

Hearing of the motion has been adjourned to January 19, 2018.

In the case (Suit No. FHC/L/CS/09/2018), the children of the deceased, who are directors and shareholders of the company, asked the court to stop the IGP, the first defendant, and officers under his control from assisting Mr. Offor, the second defendant, to sell properties of the company, including its office. Joined as the third defendant is the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

In her ruling, Justice Hadiza Shagari held that there is a real and imminent threat to the company's existence, operations, management and properties by Mr. Offor, who is aided by officers and men under the IGP's control. She equally held that there are serious issues to be determined in the substantive suit, adding that the parties in the suit must maintain status quo pending the determination of the motion for interlocutory injunction.

Justice Shagari also held that the balance of convenience is in favor of the applicants, stating that the award of compensatory damages will be inadequate recompense if the order sought was not granted. In an affidavit in support of its application, Centrepoint Network Limited stated that it provides Information Technology services to British High Commission, Argentine Embassy, American Embassy, South African High Commission and the Ministry of Defence among other clients. The affidavit, deposed to by Mr. Femi Adenitire of Babajide Koku and Co, lawyers to the plaintiff, stated that Mr. Offor had an intimate relationship to the deceased, who was the Managing Director of Centrepoint Network Limited until her death on October 10, 2017.

The company's directors and shareholders at incorporation and till date, the affidavit stated, have been the deceased and her children, Akumbu Obioha, Sopuluchuku Offor and Nnedinma Obioha. According to the company, the five children of the deceased are close sisters, but Mr. Offor, who is not a director, is working to split them so as to be able to plunder their mother's assets.

Mr. Offor, the plaintiff averred, met with the directors and shareholders of the company as well as other relatives of the deceased on December 24 2017, three days after the funeral of the late Managing Director. At the meeting, Mr. Offor declared that he would sell all the properties of the deceased, sell all her companies and give the proceeds to charity, irrespective of the fact that the company is a distinct legal entity from the former Managing Director. Mr. Offor boasted that he will use the Police to carry out his plan, saying that he is sufficiently influential to make the Police do his bidding.
Two days after the meeting, Mr. Offor gave teeth to his threat, storming the home of the deceased in Orodo, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, with 50 armed policemen. The policemen assisted Mr. Offor to break into the private room of the deceased, ransacked the place and in the process, assaulted the children of the former Managing Director, who are all female. In particular, Mr. Offor slapped Akumbu Obioha, the medical doctor daughter of the deceased, for begging him to stop beating Chiemeka Nmesoma Joy Offor, her sister. The company, therefore, asked the court to protect its operations and staff, saying if Mr. Offor and the IGP are not restrained, the staff will lose their jobs and the company will slide into insolvency.

The company further averred that its directors are now living in fear of their lives and anxiety over its future, given the threats and actions of Mr. Offor. According to the company, letters of administration have not been issued in respect of the estate of the deceased.

Politics / How Fani-kayode Used Apostle Suleman To Cover Up Wife Abuse By Claiming Buha by Franklin242(m): 2:09pm On Jan 07, 2018
It has emerged that the three-year-old marriage between former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, and Precious Chikwendu has hit the rocks and threatening to explode in dramatic fashion, SaharaReporters has learned. But to cover up the atrocious abuse of his current wife, Mr. Fani-Kayode, who had had a hat-trick of marriages before meeting Precious, with whom he has a son has accused implicitly accused the federal government of planning to assassinate his wife, this was contained in the fake prophesy given by controversial priest, Apostle Suleman for 2018. in reality, unknown ro many Fani-Kayode had accused his wife of infidelity. The woman, disclosed family sources, is said to be pregnant with a set of triplets.

However, the husband is said to be denying responsibility. The former minister, in a text message to members of his family and friends to him and his wife, said he was "reliably informed that the children Precious is carrying are not mine".

The man responsible for the pregnancy, said Mr. Fani-Kayode, is a US-based disc jockey. Also in the text, which had the family of the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, in copy, the former minister told friends that he no longer wants to have anything to do with the wife, advising their friends not to render financial assistance to her.

"I urge you to please cut off from her and not to help her in any way. She has told the world that you intend to help her with money and I urge you to be very wary of doing so. No friend of hers can remain mine. I urge you to be very careful of this mad, ungrateful, deceitful and treacherous woman," he warned friends.

Sources close to the distressed marriage told SaharaReporters that Mr. Fani-Kayode started physically abusing Precious from the first year of the marriage, a fate that befell her three predecessors. The violence, this website was told, increased as the years went by. He was said to have ordered her to abort the pregnancy that resulted in their son. Precious ignored him but got savage beating, including on her belly, for the recalcitrance. It has grown worse with the allegation of infidelity. A source said when Mr. Fani-Kayode came up with the allegation of infidelity, he hit the woman very violently in presence of their househelp, who he threatened with a gun by sticking the weapon in her mouth to warn her against squealing.

He also instructed his bodyguard to hit Precious, who has since left their home and now sleeps at her boutique at Abacha Estate, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja. She is also said to have been relieved of the Mercedes Benz G-Wagon bought for her by Mr. Fani-Kayode from the copious sums of money made during his time as spokesperson of former President Goodluck Jonathan's campaign organization.

Precious, according to a source, is back to driving 2009 Honda car and has had her police escort withdrawn by the husband. Controversial preacher, Mr. TB Joshua, is said to have waded in and invited Precious to Lagos, buying her flight tickets.

But all the horrors Precious has been subjected to are masked by the husband's extravagant show of confected affection on Facebook. On his Facebook page on Wednesday, Mr. Fani-Kayode posted a picture of himself and Precious accompanied with a post claiming that the tainted Apostle Suleiman exposed a plot assassinate "my beautiful wife, Precious Chikwendu, in 2018. The post, fizzing with the doctrinal lingo, described Precious as "the daughter of Zion", "hidden in Christ" and " covered by the blood of Jesus".

This conveys the impression that things are smooth with them, a tactic he used in the case of Regina, his immediate former wife and mother of the last of his five daughters, Remi. Regina, a Ghanaian, said sources was a victim of serious abuse and had to put up with Mr. Fani-Kayode's relentless womanizing. But even on her last birthday, he was effusive on Facebook.

His first wife, Saratu Attah, whom he married when he was 22, was also regularly pummeled. Sources said the woman, daughter of the late Mr. Adamu Attah, was viciously beaten for requesting a swimming pool in their home on Marine Road in Apapa, Lagos. When his father, the late Chief Remi Fani-Kayode, the beating intensified. Divorce later followed.

The next marriage was to Yemisi Odesanya, daughter of a judge. She is now known as Yemisi Wada after remarrying. In newspaper interviews, the woman told stories of Mr. Fani-Kayode's viciousness and lack of care for their daughters, the reason for which he was excluded from the marriage of one of them, Temitope, in 2014. Despite the disconnect between him and the children, he never fails to advertise his "love" for them on Facebook on their birthdays.

The Federal Government has allayed the fear of purported increment in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, from N145 per litre.

Addressing reporters on Friday in Abuja, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, asked Nigerians to ignore such reports with an assurance that fuel pump price remains unchanged.

He also criticised those circulating the speculations saying they were being unfair to Nigerians following the difficulty they had gone through during the yuletide.

“We are not increasing price from N145,” said Kachikwu. “I thought we should make this very clear, this is not a matter for speculation; anybody who does speculation is not being helpful to Nigerians.”

“They’ve gone through a very difficult Christmas period. We are working night and day to try and find solutions,” he added.

The minister further said the fuel crisis should not be politicised but rather, the people should support the government’s effort to ensure the nation overcomes the challenge.

He said: “It is not a political issue, people should step out of that goalpost. We want to provide succour to Nigerians, we want to provide product at N145 – that is the presidential mandate, that is the Federal Executive Council mandate; nobody is having a deliberation on that.”

Working Refineries Solution To Fuel Crisis, Says Kachikwu

Kachikwu also briefed journalists on the issues discussed in the past few days at the stakeholders’ meeting which was convened to find a lasting solution to Nigeria’s fuel challenges.

“The essence of our meeting yesterday (Thursday) and the essence of the committee’s meeting which began a few days ago, is to find mechanisms to ensure that queues do not come back to Nigeria,” he said.

“That there is a wetting of all the stations so there’s product available every time for Nigerians, that private marketers who had pulled out of participation – that we deal with their problems so that they can participate effectively in the supply of refined petroleum products in the country; all within the parameters of the N145 pump price,” he added.
