Crime / Re: 81-Year-Old Ohio Man Shoots Uber Driver Over Scam Allegations (Video) by Ilekokonit: 3:35am On Apr 19
This is one of the reasons why Uber or Mini Cab driving remains a very dangerous job. In the UK I heard about the case of an Uber driver who was stabbed to death while driving by a customer who was sitting directly behind him.

You no know wetin your customer carry for bag. It could be a hammer, a knife or a gun.

I used to do part time Mini cab driving many years ago as a student in London and I've been robbed by 4 customers who were obviously armed and they still forced me to drop them at home one by one for free. Those were the days when someone could stab you to death on Friday in London, escape to Jamaica the same night and come back to London on Monday on another passport before the UK Govt banned visa on arrivals for Jamaica.

I also remember carrying 3 oyinbo guys another night and as I stopped the car to drop them off they got out and all ran away without paying. Normally, I just smile and let them go but this night around 3am, I just got out of the car on impulse and started chasing after them. 2 of them kept running into a block of flats and the third one turned around to fight me and at this point I knew I had to act fast and get out of the cul de sack dead end road before the other 2 would get a weapon from their flat and come back for me. I somehow managed to shake the guy off and quickly reverse my car and get out of the culde sac.

The final straw that made me hang my driving gloves permanently was when I was earning peanuts as a then Trainee Accountant and I had just imported my then wife and baby boy from Naija and my salary was not enough for 3 and so every Friday night, I would go to night clubs at night and ask people leaving if they wanted a cab like many immigrants did in those days. Unknown to me, one particular night, the first passengers I picked were undercover cops (male and female in mufti).

The minute they entered my car and I moved, na police siren I hear for my back and before I could say Jack Robinson, handcuffs don enter baba hand and they started reading me my rights. I spent the next 4 hours for cell and I was charged to court for an offence called "touting" (as no cab driver is allowed to approach a customer for a job in the streets of the UK).For cabs and Uber, it has to be pre-booked by the customer and for black cabs, they are the only ones that customers can wave at and they will stop and pick them due to their special status. Their knowledge exams of the streets in their patch takes around 2 years or more to pass.

Before the court date, my fellow Naija "touts" advised me to lie to the judge that I did not approach the customers in the street but my cab office sent me to pick them. Thank God I did not listen to them and i told the judge the truth that I was struggling to survive on my £700 a month accountant salary especially since I just brought my then wife and baby boy from Nigeria and all i was looking for by doing the "touting" was just a few pounds to use in buying food for my family over the weekend.

The judge said he thought I was going to lie and he had made up his mind that if I lied to him, he would have fined me £800 and given me penalty points on my license but because I told him the truth, I should go and sin no more and just pay £25 court costs BUT he warned me to desist from it for 2 years 'cos if I was nabbed doing the same thing within 2 years, he would then fine me £800 and given me penalty points on my license.

The judge also told my lawyer to write to my then Accounting firm employer that if they sacked me, he was going to be cross with them because all in all, i was just trying to feed my young family. But I later told my lawyer not to bother writing to my employer.

Another danger faced in my student days of mini cabbing was when I had just brought my 7 month old son and my Ex from Naija to London and to make extra money, I borrowed my brothers extra car and went on a long mini cab shift lasting 60 hours (2 and a half days) without sleep (in those days you had to put in the hours to make anything from mini cabbing) and on the way home after the 60 hour shift I started feeling sleepy and I wound down my windows so that the winter cold will keep me awake as I was only 20 minutes or so from home.

What saved my life was that the Met police stopped me just as I was approaching the entrance to Rotherhite tunnel and asked me to put on my seat belt which I did.
As I exited the East London end of the tunnel and turned right towards Stratford, I dozed off for a split second and crashed the "borrowed" car into the central road divider. I was not injured but the car was a write off (although UK write off is not as serious as Naija one). The police came and called an ambulance and I was certified fine at the hospital.

The police later charged me to court for "driving without due care and attention" 'cos in their summation, the minute I started feeling sleepy, I should have pulled over, reclined my seat and slept for a while instead of carrying on driving. I was fined £250 at the court and had 6 penalty points docked from my license.

Today's London is now so dangerous with stabbings almost every day that Uber or mini cab driving is not a job for the faint hearted.

Talking of the so called wife I imported from Naija and was trying to feed with those mini cab jobs that either landed me in hospital or in court, she has now turned my 2 children against me as we speak although they are no longer kids but young adults but you know say for UK, pikin no too get sense like Naija pikin 'cos for the latter, its hard to turn their minds against their father but for UK, its the easiest thing for a woman to do.

But then again, shit happens and you just learn to live with it 'cos for UK, it is pointless dragging kids with a woman although they are no longer kids now BUT the relationship has been damaged beyond repair and I see them as strangers and I suppose they see me as a stranger too as we have lived apart for quite a while now. Although I still lend a financial helping hand to the younger one whenever its needed although a friend says that I am wasting my money.

In the next few years, just watch. Humans will start living like animals, just f^ck anyone and have children, no sacred commitment

Humans have actually started living worse than some animals. A lot of animals mate with a single partner for life unlike the internet and social media addicted humans who no longer have any focus in life nor do they see anything as sacred anymore.

For example, today's humans (including superstars) no longer have any shame if their sex tape gets exposed online for their families and the whole world including their children to see into eternity.

In times past, the fear of bringing your family into shame made some areas stand as red lines that people did not cross but in today's shameless world, anything goes.

Why didn't the courts equally grant Bobrisky bail IF they really arrested him for spraying Naira ??

When a Government body is caught blatantly lying to arrest, detain and imprison a citizen for any reason, then it tells you of the mindset, impunity and dishonesty of those in power in Nigeria.

Our laws and their enforcements should be seen to be fairly applied to all because it is Bobrisky being jailed using a dishonest smokescreen today, it may be anyone's turn tomorrow.

Abubakar Bagudu: In the plunder machine that late kleptocrat Abacha set up, Mr Bagudu was the most prolific bagman, court documents show.

“Abubakar Atiku Bagudu was an associate of General Abacha and his sons who participated in the conspiracy to steal and launder hundreds of millions of dollars,” American investigators told the court. “Among other things, Bagudu played an instrumental role in setting up and executing the complicated financial transactions used to launder the proceeds of the conspiracy.”

Mr Bagudu was involved with all the offshore front companies and bank accounts – from the British Virgin Islands to Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Singapore, England, Paris, Guernsey, and Jersey – used to steal and launder billions of dollars belonging to Nigeria under the Abacha regime. He acted as a director and in some cases as a signatory of accounts or prime beneficiary, court documents revealed.

He was behind the latest recovery in the UK alongside Mohammed Abacha.

Mr Bagudu, who was a former senator, has been the governor of Nigeria’s northwestern Kebbi State since 2015 and is an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Gilbert Chagoury: Mr Chagoury is a Nigerian-born businessman of Lebanese descent. He is the founder of the Chagoury Group, whose multi-billion-dollar assets span construction, manufacturing, real estate, and hotels. He has accrued an infamous track record for decades.

Mr Chagoury was convicted in 2000 of money laundering and aiding a criminal organisation. In the 1990s, he set up accounts with SG Ruegg Bank in Geneva for the Abacha family enabling them to benefit from illegal transfers of over $120 million from the Central Bank of Nigeria and secured immunity from prosecution, court documents showed.

He later paid $600,000 in fines to the court in Geneva, Switzerland, and refunded $66 million to the Nigerian government.

I knew categorizing customers based on band is an avenue to dupe customers.

As a Lagosian who knows how Tinubu has been looting Lagos State for the past 25 years, I never expected nor do I expect Tinubu to change his stealing ways in a hurry especially knowing that he bought the Presidency with funds looted from Lagos.

Tinubu is just doing what he knows best to do which is to squeeze the common man dry and then steal more than 50% of the funds generated for himself so that he can buy future elections into perpetuity for himself and his cronies.

Now that Tinubu has gotten his vice like grip on the neck of the struggling Nigeria's Treasury, he will rather die than let anyone but himself or those he selects become president in future elections. Bookmark this comment.

Just watch and see as the criminality of Tinubu unfolds to those who wrongly thought that anything good can come from the heroin dealer cum treasury looter called Tinubu.

Tinubu has not shocked me in any way 'cos I always knew that he was a criminal.

Tinubu is just crowd funding for future elections using different money grabbing schemes including the electricity tariff increase, the Lagos Calabar coastal road cost jack up to $15 billion with no explanation or itemization given.

Lets not forget that the first phase of the Lagos Calabar coastal road will be tolled and the contract has been awarded to a company run by one of Tinubu's business partners fronts - a Lebanese guy called Gilbert Chagoury who was one of those that Helped Abacha Loot Billions

Also remember that Tinubu Ignored the CBN Investigator’s Recommendation and instead wrote to the Senate to approve conversion of N7.3trillion ‘Ways and Means revenue’ without assessment ?

Tinubu did the above against the recommendation of Tinubu's own special investigator on the Central Bank of Nigeria, Jim Obazee, who had said that the ways and means balance was dubiously and illegally incurred and should be reassessed before Senate authorisation but Tinubu ignored his own appointees advice.

By the time Tinubu finishes looting the Nigerian Treasury, Nigeria will be a shell of itself. Abacha will become a learner when Tinubu's looting of Nigeria becomes evident for all to see.

My friend just told the kidnapper over the phone the following :- You need to go back and learn this kidnapping work properly because if you look at the car my brother was driving, you will have known that there is no way he has that kind of money, so you might as well keep him in your custody until you get tired of feeding him. His brother was released soon after according to him. Risky move though as they could have killed his brother in anger.

Yet nothing.

The darkness is too dark.

Our help is still far away. Sigh.

Very apt.

I've been working from home since 2020 and when Tinubu made the Pres election ballot and being a Lagosian who has first hand knowledge of how Tinubu has been looting the Lagos treasury for the past 25 years and counting, I started getting really worried about what a Tinubu Presidency will mean for Nigeria's treasury and what it will mean for those of us in diaspora who having lived in saner climes may now choose consciously not to live in a Nigeria ruled by a kleptomaniac heroin dealer called Tinubu and will prefer to stay put in diaspora as against seeing daily the flaunting of wealth and power by the likes of MC Oluomo and Tinubu's gang of killer thugs and election criminals.

That time is upon us now as Tinubu eventually rigged and bribed his way into Aso rock and it only means that even if those in diaspora come back home, what are they coming back to and even when it was not this bad, some came back home but could not work out the "peculiar" rules for business success in Nigeria and so they threw in the towel after a few years and in some cases a few months and then went back abroad. What hope do they have of ever coming back home to Nigeria under the current criminal occupying Aso Rock ?

Even before the elections, when I am supposed to be working from home, I was so distracted with worry about the possibility (now a reality) of Tinubu getting his sticky fingers and greedy eyes on the Nigerian Treasury to the extent that I spent hours on end reading Nigerian news online and later making up the hours late at night to do a full days work.

Now that Nigeria has rescued defeat from the jaws of victory by allowing Tinubu to be in charge of our collective destinies, what next ?

I really pity those who have no way of escaping out of Tinubu's Nigeria.

What Tinubu (who is now richer than Nigeria in just 10 months) will do to Nigeria and Nigerians will be a lesson in history classes the world over. Nigerians underestimated Tinubu's greed for power and stolen wealth with which to perpetuate himself in power for the next 8 years and into perpetuity by installing his cronies just like he has done in Lagos for the past 25 years.

And because we worship money in Nigeria, Tinubu will use the money he has looted from Lagos and that he is currently looting from the Nigerian Treasury to bribe all those in power to do his bidding just like he bribed the Supreme Court Judges to rubber stamp his electoral heist that brought him into Aso Rock.

God help the downtrodden in Nigeria because it is going to get VERY dark under Tinubu.

He will rather die than reveal the cost of the project.

Tinubu, shady, and dubious deals are like 5 and 6. There's nothing like transparency and accountability when Tinubu is involved. He is a notorious drug dealer, for Pete's sake.

The money from this contract will be used to finance the 2027 election.

Construction firms are Nigeria's biggest money launderers. It is the reason contract figures are inflated; some, like the Lagos-Calabar Highway, are shrouded in secrecy because they are avenues where government officials launder public funds.

Well spotted. The same way he stole and continues to steal from the Lagos state Treasury since 1999 hence the massive looted funds the drug baron had at his control with which he bribed and rigged his way into Aso Rock. The criminal is now richer than Nigeria from his 10 months in Aso Rock.

In 1993, his assets were frozen by the United States government as a result of a court case asserting that the American government had "probable cause" to believe Tinubu's American bank accounts held the proceeds of heroin dealing. Family / Mum Says She Showers In Front Of Teenage Daughter To Normalise Bodies by Ilekokonit: 12:08am On Apr 09
I shower in front of my 18-year-old daughter and she's seen me naked since she was a baby - people say it's wrong, but I'm teaching her body confidence
A mother still showers in front of her 18-year-old daughter - to show her what a real body looks like.

Angela Karanja, 48, from Banbury, Oxfordshire, has been stripping off in front of Dee since she was a baby.

She sees no point in stopping now, even though Dee is an adult - beacause she wants to teach her about being comfortable in her own skin.

Psychologist Angela said she wants her daughter to know that bodies on social media aren't real.

She said: 'Our bodies are the vessels that we have to live in. This is what we have, we should be happy and proud of it.

'Especially for girls, I think if we don't show them what is real when they grow older they will get subjected to a lot of Photoshopped pictures and think they are not enough.

'My idea is to show them what is real and when they see an edited picture it doesn't threaten them and they know they are enough.'

Daughter, Dee Karanja, 18, a student, said: 'This has made me feel comfortable because now I know what reality is like.

'We may not always love our bodies, but even so we should respect it because we only get one body.

'If we love our bodies then no matter what anyone says you won't feel bad about yourself.'

Angela said showering in front of her daughter from a young age has helped her daughter become 'confident' and 'happy' in her body.

She said: 'We should help our young people be comfortable with who they are.

'It is so nice to see the confidence in her own self as she has grown.

'We know that people have different body shapes and all sorts, don't forget I have things falling to the south.

'It is important to show people do change.'

Angela said she will also walk around the house naked, and her daughter isn't fazed by this as it is what she has been brought up around.

'First thing in the morning, I will wake up and walk out naked to the bathroom,' she said.

'This is me, this is who I am before I wear clothes.

'When we come to terms with who we are nothing out there threatens you.

'Confidence is not about the clothes I am wearing or the make-up I have.

'Don't get me wrong, I wear nice clothes but it is not to conceal or make people think I am someone else.'

Angela said people will tell her she is brave and some people will question why she does it.

She said she always chooses to 'educate' people on why she does it rather than argue with them.

Angela said: 'People tell me that I am subjecting children to something they shouldn't see.

'I am like, "Ok, you're telling me that my children should not know I have breasts or a bum?".

'When I am naked it is not like I am opening myself up. It is me, being me.

'Those who object say I should not show them my parts but children should know how to feel comfortable in themselves.'

Recently, Bradley Cooper revealed that his dad was 'always nude' and would 'take showers with him' when he was a kid.

Bradley said this has made him comfortable being nude when his six year older daughter is around.
