Politics / PMB, GANDUJE, And The Image Of Integrity. by KvotheLamora(m): 11:20am On Nov 20, 2018
Okay, so, I'm going to write abit about the ongoing fued between those who support PMB and those who are either neutral or don't support him at all. It is common knowledge that PMB is most likely going to be my candidate because of what I consider successes that he has recorded in economic recovery, security and armed forces reequipment, infrastructural development (whether began or continued he tried), for the spine and courage it took to enforce many brilliant policies that were introduced by GEJ but unenforced by him for the pain it would have caused his followers and the votes it would have lost him. PMB had the spine and testicular fortitude to enforce these policies and in so doing stepped on alot of important toes. For increase in agric production, for the pride I feel that most restaurants I have walked into in both the west and the north now proudly serve rice that was democratically prepared. What I mean by that is that the rice is local, farmed by the people, for the people, and to the people. I am rather very fond and proud of that. All that said, I think me and many people who support PMB do so because we have a firm belief in his unwavering quality in integrity. This is his main selling point, he doesn't compromise on integrity. This of course totally means the efcc, though neutral, is viewed as an extension of that integrity which should be used to fight corruption and corrupt practices. I cannot categorically say if Ganduje is guilty, but my heart tells me that he is, and those who say that isn't enough should also note I have nothing but my heart as proof of Atiku's guilt. What is good for the goose, is good for the gander. Therefore, pending the conclusion of the case, I feel that PMB should distance himself from such a blatant *alleged* corrupt act. Furthermore, he should be using his influence to actively be proactive towards a clean and honest *and* quick investigation that will either disgrace someone who threatens that integrity image, or exonerate an old friend and ally. He is PMB, the same rules don't apply to him, I hardly think he can afford to remain aloof and act like nothing is happening. We should be allowed to ask why fayose was so publicly maligned with scare tactics concerning his investigation and ganduje's case comes as "move on, just move on". It lends credit to the opposition and their claim of efcc being compromised and apc becoming a haven for wrong doers. I feel that Mr. President can and should do more. The fact that it is in the seat of his power, the place he expects the most votes, makes it even more precarious. I hope Mr. President realises the danger in fraternising with a man like ganduje without being cleared of all charges.

Ohh! nice. No need to be ashamed, since you know you've really improved.
Though I just start my training on the use of CADS (AutoCAD, Orion, Prota structure at the moment), I wish to be very proficient in a number of CADs software to fit in the current trend in the field of Engineering.
Heyyy, prota 18 is out, and it integrates RC and steel composite structures...its actually pretty Cool! You should definitely go download it, it's available on p30downloads

I appreciate your wonderful submission especially the colour scheme which added life to the design. I am an architect by training and I have come to realize that 'sabificate ' than excellent degree puts more food on the table. If you are a true professional, your success in life is directly proportional to your ability to practically deliver on demand.A first class degree is great and should be highly commended but all grades of certificates are but means to an end. They are never ends in true sense of it.I got employed as an architect in Lagos in an architecture firm in 1993 without my boss sighting any of my certificates though I had a MSc degree in Architecture. Diligence pays.

Thanks for the compliment, and I quite agree with you!

Orion and prota are good design softwares...same really, prota purchased orion...but one has to heavily alter the detailed drawing to make it our standard...theirs are a bit cumbersome and aesthetically unappealing....not to mention small Fonts!

Nice work here, please which cad software did you use here?

Well that was a long time back, I was just starting out then, I used orion to design it because at that time I only knew orion and Robot structural analysis, but I detailed RC columns and bases manually on AutoCAD based on my design results. And I also manually adjusted the orion details on the slab...but like I said, it was a while back, right now looking at it I am somewhat....ashamed...I've gotten loads better and neater under some strict tutors and very picky clientele. If you or anyone else needs structural designs you can call me on +2348138202649.

I'm too old to believe in fantasy stories sir. There's no on and off switch for our problems, we work hard and we'll overcome them, if we don't, we will suffer...together grin cheesy
Politics / Nigeria Today - Who Is To Blame? by KvotheLamora(m): 8:23pm On Dec 18, 2017
Well, we look at our great nation today and to be honest, it's not a pretty sight we see. We see herdsmen clashing with farmers, we see secessionists, we see extremists, we see abject poverty, we see crime, we see lack of power and infrastructure, lack of basic amenities, unemployment, and a very low standard of living. In short, a country in recession. This bleak image is made even worse if one takes the time to reflect, to who we were, to what we were. To the groundnut pyramids and cotton plantations of the north, to the palm and cocoa plantations of the south, to the fruits, the bliss, the beautiful nation we once were, and all before we even found our potential biggest blessing or our potential deadliest curse; crude oil. And so one wonders, where did we go Wrong? Who is to Blame? What caused a country with such wealth and potential to fall so Far? How did we become poorer by becoming Richer? What happened to our Efforts? To our Lands? To our prosperity? Oh I know the answer we're all fond Of! Corruption! Our "leaders" took us to ground. They sunk us this low. And that is usually enough of an answer and an end to lamentation. However, what does that truly Mean? And how is it that it inspires such acceptance in the average Nigerian? I mean, is it not democracy that is practiced Here? Is that not by definition, a government by the people, to and for the People? In more modern terms and usage, a system of government in which the citizens exercise power directly or elect representatives from among themselves to form a governing body. So if that's the case, we, the citizens, are also the government, we are the leaders, for we elected the leaders to represent us from amongst us. All they do is with our permission, both express through voting, and implied through NOT voting. You see the truth is we have no one but ourselves to blame. For too long we've sat quiet, and allowed the drum of the day to beat. Too long have the servants been the masters, too long have we sat and allowed ineptitude to fail us. Why? Because the smart, the honest, the ones with true visions and plans that could make us better are most often too quiet, while the wicked and the vile, the ones with looting and abuse of power in their minds are too often loud and clear for all to hear. So yes, those of us who are smart, who are capable, who are sincere, search your heart and accept your guilt. You are guilty of remaining quiet, of not standing your ground, of not correcting the wrong, of not facing the senseless noise and countering it with meaningful conversation. You are guilty of failing us. To the rest of us, we are guilty, of not giving the true and virtuous a voice, of not listening when they attempt to speak, of not standing by them as they attempt to fight back the wicked, the bullys who would use us and our children for the weeks or months leading to elections and then throw us like the worthless pile of easily manipulated people we've proven to be time and time again, of holding on to ethnicity, to minor and meaningless grudges and turning our backs to the ones who could make us great. We are guilty of dancing to the drums of the inept few who hit the hardest. We are all to blame. And as things stand, we will continue being in the jess we are until we learn. There are signs...positive signs, I refer to the time Nigerians stood as 1 nation and rejected the #5000 naira note, to the initial rejection of the removal of subsidy on PMS, to the 2015 elections. Positive signs that maybe we are learning, maybe there is yet some hope, some light in the dark. I hope we are. I am already seeing some promising candidates for the houses, people that are contesting based on merit, and not funds, young people with new dreams. I hope to see them win, and try their hands and strengths in governance. I hope we do what is right. I pray we don't revert to what is easy. All of us must remember, If you cannot lead, then you MUST follow.

We all have dreams, all of us, we want to be great, at whatever we do, we want to be the best. That's human nature, but what is it that bridges the gap between dreams of conquest and real life Greatness? It's easy, doing things. Actually getting up and doing something, no matter how small or worthless it may seem, just do it, take that first step towards your thousand mile journey. But for most of us, we don't even know how to start the journey, how to make the first step. And the truth is its basic; make your bed when you wake up. That's it, when you wake up, remove the sheets and make your bed. This one simple task accomplishes so much because first, it gives you a sense of purpose and order, and an achieving mindset that you will carry for the rest of the day. Secondly, if you have a bad day, at least you get to come back to made bed. If you had a good day, you cap it off with a bed that it made, your bed, made by Yourself! This one simple task at the start of the day that does so much in beginning your training on work ethic, appreciation, planning and execution, cleanliness, and eradicating the sluggish and lazy lifestyle that is preventing you from doing more, so much more. Of achieving your dreams. For if you cannot perform this simple task of making your own bed, how will you take on the World? How do you accomplish greater deeds if this one simple one defeats You? Make your Bed! And start your Journey!

Crude oil is for everyone, but the solid minerals are for those in whose states they are found. That is the inequality that needs to be addressed first. As we speak, illegal gold mining is ongoing in Osun and Niger and Zamfara and Sokoto
Zamfara folks went on illegal lead mining and 400 of them died of lead poisoning following seepage into drinking well waters
Sir you are too fixated upon the north south battle, the poster is trying to improve us as a nation, those that carry our illegal mining don't do it for the betterment of the north, they do It for themselves, no one but them improves, and I've been to the gold mines in zamfara, it's a sorry case, they truly suffer to get a little gold, and there's always a risk of getting caught, you act like the northerners actress shielding them and being improved, but it's not so, only the miners are any better off, not the north.

1. You Nigerians complain and agree that the country is not united but are opposed to people who are agitating to form a country free from these problems
2. Like Sweetguy25 said in his thread, Yoruba and hausa are the only two tribes enjoying this scam called Nigeria. Igbos and their sisters in the Nigerian Delta don't gain anything by being Nigerians. The only reason Yoruba are happy being Nigerians is because the development of Nigeria is taking place in their region.
3. Nigeria does Not love the Igbos and Niger Deltans. Please remove that statement from. The Riverine environment of the Niger Delta has been destroyed from oil activities that bankrolls the country. Yoruba and Hausa don't care.
And should you be allowed to leave, you will stop oil mining in the Niger delta because you "care" about your sisters, Right? Rubbish.

Politics / Kaduna State Governor And Sacking Of Teachers: Heartless Or Commendable? by KvotheLamora(m): 10:14pm On Dec 09, 2017
Recently, there was a mass outcry in Kaduna State of Nigeria by the state's primary school teachers due to there dismissal by their boss and Governor of the state, Governor Nasir El Rufai. His reasons for dismissal were clear, according to him, he had mandated his teachers to sit for an exam to determine their competency, in the examinations, he had set them questions a primary 4 student was expected to be able to answer, and to his dismay thousands of them had failed, and thus, lost their jobs. In the time since, there has been numerous articles defaming the governor and calling his actions despicable and heartless, and perhaps it is, but I would like to first examine the facts and look at it objectively before I take a stand. 1st, it was alleged that the governor had not conformed to waec standard in grading his teachers. 2nd, that the governor's markers themselves had made computational errors in the cumulative scores of each candidate. And 3rd, that if indeed some failed, the governor should have paid for their training rather than sack them outright. Now I will look at these grievances in order and then decide upon where I stand. 1st, the matter of WAEC standards, if the governor was to use waec standards then any teacher who scored at least 50% should have passed, but I wonder, if a primary 4 teacher understands only 50% of what he's teaching the student, how much is the child himself supposed to Retain? Furthermore, WAEC standards are for waec students not their Teachers! Claiming that the governor should have used waec standards to grade his teachers is akin to claiming that no firm should conduct aptitude tests in hiring new workers, the certificates are enough, but not so, anyone can pass school, bunch of Es are all you need and you have a degree, but an aptitude test will determine exactly what you know, therefore I see no fault by the governor in his attempt to raise the bar and the standard he requires from his teachers. 2nd, the matter of computational errors, well, it is certainly possible, and something the governor should look into if there is any proof, but thus far I have been unable to find any proof of this, and to further highlight my doubt, not everyone failed, hundreds passed, so how come the errors didn't affect Them? I think it far more likely that this was just a claim made in the bitterness of the pill handed by the governor for his staff to swallow. Now 3rd, the matter of training old staff who failed to the standard the state needs them to be so they can resume work, this too, I'm afraid to say, baffles me. Why on earth should the governor spend hard earned tax payer's money to improve individuals who have not improved Themselves? When there are many out there qualified to carry out these jobs without extra cost on the government? The governor is not their parents so how is he responsible for their personal qualifications and Betterment? I do not think he is obliged to train anyone, I think he is obliged to ensure those who are teaching our children are qualified to do so, and he is trying to do that. So where do I Stand? It seems pretty clear, I stand with the governor, as the leader of a state who's slogan is "Center of Knowledge" and whose pride is education, it's a shameful thing to say our teachers cannot pass primary 4 examinations. It is the responsibility of the governor to remove said teachers and replace them with those who are qualified to teach. And although many have tried to make it seem personal, it really isn't. The governor doesn't know them all face to face, he doesn't really care who you are, this is just about him trying to discharge the responsibility placed upon him by the people of his state. And for a man on his first tenure, it was a brave thing to do, to risk the wrath of thousands of potential voters in the pursuit of doing what is right. I commend you Mr. Governor. So are you heartless? Why yes, you are, and incidentally, it is the exact kind of heartlessness that we need more of in this state and in our country as a whole.
Career / First Class Certificate Vs First Class Sabificate. A Study In Civil Engineering. by KvotheLamora(m): 9:45am On Nov 29, 2017
A first class in civil Engineering is indeed something to be awed over, the course is bulky with students required to become adept in structural analysis and design, highway analysis and design, traffic control, rail design, water and waste management, construction management, quantity Survey, and other related fields. Often times it is over whelming and breakdowns are not unheard of. Therefore it is something special to see a first class student from a government university anywhere in the world. But then, often times, in civil engineering, a first class is not necessary at all, second class upper and lower and sometimes even third class are quite acceptable depending on your sabificate, sometimes firms prefer a third class with a good sabificate than a second class with no or limited sabificate. So what is a Sabificate? A sabificate is the level of which you understand and can perform your work in real life conditions and problems not class room controlled situations, one may argue that those with good certificates may already have an edge in that, but not so, many people simply know how to memorise for good grades, disregarding vocational skills like software design, creative entrepreneurship, management training, while others thrive in these. Often times your place of IT holds a huge part of your destiny in your civil engineering career. Lazy and unconcerned students have gone on to become the best designers of structures and managers of sites and contract procurement gurus because of the exposure and mentoring they received during IT, they go on to practice and go for workshops and improve themselves substantially to make up for lost time, and they are ones firms give jobs because their knowledge of the work and their work ethic is far broader than class room situations. So on the issue of First class in each case, First class certificate always has an edge, but first class sabificate can rub shoulders with everyone Else! Improve yourself regardless of your class of degree, it's not too late. Make it Count! I have attached pictures of some structural designs done by me while I was still in School! Till it reached a point i called home and told them it was no longer necessary for them to send me financial assistance, quite the reverse, I was sending Them because I wanted to! Improvement is a choice, make it today and set yourself apart from the crowd.
