Soap-making Business In Nigeria
« on: September 29, 2006, 03:48 PM »

Hi everybody,

I am new to Nairaland and I think I like what I see and read on this forum.

I would like to know if anybody is knowledgeable about the soap business in Nigeria.

I think I would like to start my own soap company soon but on a small scale and mostly household soap.

Thanks.

I am currently handling a project of this kind and may be able to share some info (which i cannot post on this forum). u may want to google some info on soap-making, that will be a good start. also consider what kind of production u want to achieve - top quality, medium quality or low basic quality; how much do u want to produce and at what rate - daily, weekly or monthly; do u want to start-up in your home or purchase a production plant; what unique quality will your soap possess to compete in the market? it is not an easy start-up though, this enterprise; i must warn u. so brace urself and start to research aggressively if u want to develop your interest. Hi Babyjay,
I make and sell soap as a side gig. I specialize in soap for drier skin types and sensitive skins. I 've been doing this for about 2and half years now.
You can build a successful business doing it from home, you don't need any major investment in equipment,
In europe you have to have certification for your products and so it is important  to do your research, I don't know if this is also the case in Nig, but even if not, you want to be careful that what you're selling is safe.
Luckily for you, raw materials/ingredients are at your  disposal in Nig so you 'll have one major hurdle crossed.
As eol has suggested, research reseach and some more before you put your soap on the market. The soapdish forum is an excellent resource but be sure to use the search feature before posting queries else you could get flamed! Wink

baby Jay. Good that you have this zeal. I have worked on the project before. I still have the research on the diskette. i went as far as possible in getting company that can fabicated needed machine. Talk to Engr. Akinfewa @ techno-Equip. I can really remeber the adress now, but i know it is at Ejigbo or thereabout. There can offer you machine on installmental payment. But I will advise you start from home test running whatever fomula you have for your soap. Also work well on your marketing strategy. If you would mind try seeing the MD of DUDU OSUN at TOPASS Plaza Agidingbi Road, Ikeja. He will be of great help to you cause you will need a mentor to really break through.

Soap-making Business In Nigeria
« #12 on: March 17, 2009, 01:17 PM »

Dear Readers,

I have just come across this forum and I know these posts were from last year. I live in Nigeria and operate a company which has the experience to put up soap (toilet soap, laundry soap, hotel soap, etc. ) and detergents (powder and liquid) plants on a Turnkey basis in Nigeria.

If this interests you, you may look at my profile to get my email address to contact me. (I don't think they allow posting of emails within the messages).
Thanks.
