I decided to create this thread to document and provide useful information to anyone who has decided to head down the path that my client (love-tosin, a fellow nairalander) did, and build their own house. This will be a true, real life and hopefully day to day as it transpires update.

Before we start I would like to give thanks to all my friends on Nairaland whose advices, critique, suggestions and ideas were instrumental over the years in nudging me towards this decision.

I would also like to invite all the Do-it-yourselfers, Builders, Workmen and Contractors in the house.

So here we go, follow along and I do hope this inspires you to get out and just do it!

Overview

The proposed block of flats is a 2 wing apartment with a 4 bedroom semi-detached duplex on a wing and 2 units of 3 bedroom flats on the other. The fabulous 4 bedroom semi-detached duplex contains 3 spacious bedrooms; plenty of closet space; 1 guest bedroom with a private bath; 1 master suite with generous closet space, a spacious bath and a private balcony; a separate family room with a private terrace; a huge great room for lounging and dining with a bar; and a kitchen conveniently located near the dining area with a utility room and a private terrace. This house is complete with a carport suitable for 2 cars.

This is gonna be fun! just a question, pls have u gone through the hurdles of having the plans signed and stamped by relevant authorities for final building approval and the go ahead from the city planning authority there, or is it irrelevant these days?

@ i really dont understand, are building as a developer of the property or a builder/contractor contracted to build the propert? this thought crup up from the caption of ur post "developers's diary" cause i have a similar idea of 4 nos. duplex flats that i intend to build on a plot of land. measuring 552 sqm. in lagos flat ground.

i shall be in need of credible developers [on a build and recoup funds and later transfer back to the owner basis] shortly!!!
