Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by OmoPastor(m): 12:45pm On Feb 04, 2012
celebration of valentine's day is not part of christianity. its the devil's way of propagating immorality within the young. instead, valentine's day should be an aggressive soul winning day for all christians by organising programs that will bring them into church rather than joining them in immorality.

any one born again should not be part of valentine's celebration apart from soul winning. they do not understand what love means therefore they multiply unto themselves iniquity upon iniquity. the only love we celebrate is the unfailing love of God for us which translated to the death of His Son on the cross for us. this is the love we preach to the whole world.

the message is simple; God loves you as a sinner and has forgiven you of all your iniquities, why don't you accept this free gift of eternal life!

Ignorance. What of married christians? Is it a crime if they decide to specially express their love for each other on that day?

Whatever thing You do, make sure you share something meaningful with others.

Instead of eating away, give some to those who are in need. Everyday is Valentine
to those who understand the value of life.

Cherish what God has given you and make life worth living, both for you and those
around you.

In my effort to curb the menace of those who claim to know how to make money
while in reality they actually know nothing, I've created a platform where we can
share Good Business Tips, where everyone will learn without paying.

The site is: WealthResult.com. Go there and share whatever business knowledge
you have. If you have non, seat back and learn.

Happy whatever (good) thing you believe!

Interesting. Is that not how Christmas started? Wasn't the date 25 Dec originally a Pagan festival until the original event was usurped as a means of introducing Christ to the Pagans? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Poster,

Pls do not confuse the carnal celebration the world has turned Valentine's day into and confuse it with the Church's stand on it.

In the annual calendar of the Catholic denomination, the feast of St Valentine just like the feast day of any other saint is celebrated; at least at holy mass and then such opportunity is used to propagate the message of love to one another. Christianity has in no way banned, forbidden or removed the celebration of the feast of St. Valentine from its calendar.

Unfortunately, the circular society has infiltrated the true meaning of the acts and ways of life of St Valentine and turned the meaning of love he preached on its head and made it sound so vain, self-serving and totally off the trail. It has become a day for carnal activities and so hyped by the business folk that exploit the economic aspect to the whole vain jamboree. It is not lovers day as we like to put it in the circular world but a day to share love to those who are not as privileged as you are. It is not a day for lovers to try all the raunchy, dirty postulations of kama sutra and spread diseases and immorality as we know it today. But a day to recollect on the lives and times of the Saint Valentine and using his ways of life as a benchmark, examine our own lives and/to discover better ways to impact on the lives of those around us and live a more meaningful live. It is a day for one to share the spirit of agape love, oneness, loyalty, affection and send help to the ones who are all around you especially the less endowed.

Married couples may choose to use such a day to renew their affection. It is not in any way wrong. They might as well choose their anniversaries or any other day special to them to do this. But it is totally out of place to question their motive for doing it on Valentine's day. It is still accommodated under the laws of morality.

Hence, it is out of place to say Christianity forbids Valentine Celebration; IT IS FALSE!!!

Thank you Emperoh.
@Poster,
You do not understand the meaning and origin of valentine day.
Please go and make your research before you post this kind of topic again.
Valentine day is a special day in the life of all Christians, especially married catholics
Young men and women who also intend marrying each other can use the opportunity to rekindle their love.
Valentine day is a good omen and will always be celebrated

Dear ladies,
due to d recent Boko Haram embarassed attacks, we would avoid public places like fastfood wink, cinemas, bars, restaurants, beaches wink
To safe guard our lives. Therefore, this year's valentine will be strictly at home.

Is there any celebration that is forbiden in Christianity? The reason why Im asking is becouse I know that xmas is from pagan fastival. Jesus never celabrated xmas, easter, good friday, new year, etc but are now been celabrated as christian festivals.
Re: Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by stagger: 1:02pm On Feb 05, 2012
OP,

I disagree with your standpoint on this matter.

I am married and I celebrate Valentine's Day with my wife because it is a day we use to make our marriage sweeter. If you even look at the origin of the original Valentine's Day, you will see that it has clean, moral roots.

The devil has no creative power. He did not create Valentine's Day or its ideals. All he does is to corrupt things that God created for good, corrupt God's good intentions for our lives and just about corrupts anything good.

Make the distinction and do not confuse people here with a narrow-minded outlook on Valentine's Day.
Re: Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by Nobody: 1:04pm On Feb 05, 2012
Yes jesus neva celebrated any of these, but right from the old testament, the feast of passover was celebrated, and that was also celebrated in d last supper. Do u read d bible at all. Don't ever say Jesus did not celebrate any feasts or observed days. That is totally not true
Re: Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by OmoPastor(m): 1:56pm On Feb 05, 2012
I read some posts saying valentine has catholic root, but my point is that the only love that should be widely celebrated is Gods agape love for humanity. we should let the world know what true love is. the devil is gaining upper hand in spreading this evil menace called valentine while we sit and look and some christians even join them in the evil celebration. why do you have to wait until valentine to re-kindle your love for your spouse? gradually the evil meaning of valentine is creeping into the church

Re: Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by OmoPastor(m): 2:13pm On Feb 05, 2012
If valentine is for the catholics then let it remain with them cos the true meaning has been twisted and is being accepted by so many christians. The love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts so we do not need that day which has no bearing with the true love of God to show and manifest this true love. What a smart christian would do that day is to get someone born again rather than join in the rubbish many indulge in that day. Any couple waiting for valentine to show or rekindle their love should know that they are part of the rubbish that takes place on that day with some exceptions.

You said it all, Jesus never celebrated these festivals but christians do. In the same vain, valatine can also be celebrated by christians.

Rabzy01

Don't misquote me. Jesus did all according to the law, and he said clearly that he had not come to abolish any of em but to fulfil them. Bro, irrespective of if u tink it shudnt be celebrated, I tink it shud in a christian way. By the way, don't say then that Jesus ressurected on easter so we shudnt celebrate that fact. Ill die tryin not to.
Re: Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by OmoPastor(m): 3:51pm On Feb 05, 2012

I wish to add to all the above comments that, if every one could just google the origin of that day, why that day, what happen b4 that day was called that day, then we can judge if that day Iڪ ment to b celebrated or not.
Re: Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by Enosa1(m): 4:35pm On Feb 05, 2012
Looking at what the world has turn st val's day into, one will be force to agree with the op. Cause that day the amount of unwanted pregnancy that is bound to occur is without number- Girls act so free and guys take advantage-
Anyway sha if we are to eliminate valentine's day it go out to mean that we are also eliminating the sacrifice paid by st valentine.
Re: Valentine Celebration Is Forbidden In Christianity by PINKBABE: 4:37pm On Feb 05, 2012
From class 4 in secondary school wen we were taught the origin of of St. Valetine's was the day I knew i ll neva partake in it in the world concept. To catholics, its a great day of feast of love, helping the needy etc, but as a young girl what I saw was a different ball game. Its really a period of sexual immorality, kids stealing to meet demands, I know what am saying, young girls selling their bodies, girls going into traps that they would have escaped if not for the pressure of Val's day and most of our so called parents or adults engaged in extra marital affairs.

It cannot be scraped like you guys call for, what we need to do is to educate people around us, as its being said charity begins at home teach your siblings, kids, seminars should go on in the schools, our kids need to know what FEB 14 is really meant for, those that believe in it (I MEAN THE CATHOLICS) should led the campaing SO THAT their kids WILL NOT BE DECEIVED but for my own FAITH we never marked St. Val's day but my parents taught us that 14/02 is not what the world is celebrating it to be. We are meant to show love every day, they have to teach us  this cos we are not catholics so they will not stand us to be deceived by anyone. For example, boys ll say to little girls its Val's day, a day of love so you have give to give me your love just for this once blah, blah cos its recognised today before God and man, U even heard priest say that in church eg the feast is marked in the whole church today meaning is not a sin for today etc you guys know well what am talking, they will come with satanic manipulation.  I have handled cases like this when I was in Nigeria for my NYSC it bleed my heart. So if you don't teach them, wait they will learn in means that will break your heart.

Final, any marital relationship that waits for Feb 14 to show or rekindle their love I believe that union must be sick, to be honest. I think they need to grow up and most married ladies will settle their scores on 14/02 with goodies.  Our atittude need to change.

VAL CANNOT BE SCRAPED BUT WE NEED TO TEACH THE TRUTH ABOUT LOVE.
