Why Is Osogbo More Developed Than Ibadan And Abeokuta? by Nobody: 12:13pm On May 15, 2021 |
I'm currently watching the Yoruba nation rally in Osogbo and the city looks cleaner, more modern and more developed compared to what I saw in Ibadan and Abeokuta. Why is that? 2 Likes |

OdudwaR: In the 70s, Osogbo was a village. It was never an urban as Ibadan and Abeokuta in the 50s. Osogbo is a new urban department. 16 Likes |

Idiko1:Abeokuta and Ibadan have thousands of Igbos living there. Some have never been to the south east sef. There are more Igbos in Abeokuta and Ibadan than we have Igbos in oshogbo. The Igbo population in Abeokuta and Ibadan is more than the Yoruba population in the 5 south eastern state. 18 Likes 3 Shares |

How is living expences like in Oshogbo, I am really interested in this city? Edited: okay, I just realised the purpose of this thread is to raise another silly Yoruba vs Igbo quarrels. very pathetic. Nairaland used to be a place where people come to teach and learn. Now it is a place where ill-intent people ask questions for ill-intent reasons while paranoid people react or respond for paranoid reasons. It is sad. 8 Likes 3 Shares |

Some good things about SW Nigeria There is nothing Like Christian, Muslim or Traditional There is nothing like one Yoruba state is superior to other Yoruba states The most important thing, Yoruba's are one and will remain so. If you like compare Kuto Market with Oyigbo market, na your headache. 15 Likes 1 Share |

OdudwaR:I always tell people that Osogbo would be better as capital for Yoruba nation. Aside from bn the city centre of Nigerian Yorubaland, it can easily be well planned. It's habitation, Ibadan and Abeokuta were habited long ago and you know what olden days habitation look like now. IB and Abk should have about 70% olden/traditional habitation while Osogbo should be about just 30% olden days habitation. Osogbo have well structured vegetation, good roads and constant power supply but it's a new city. Not developed than Ib and Abk though. 7 Likes |

Moferere:Dude ain't lying even though his development definition is just his observation. Ib and Abk centres were built in 50's and can't be compared to a city that started urbanization in 2000's. That's all he's saying. About 70% of Ib and Abk are all slums compare to about 30% of Osogbo. If you've travelled d 3 cities you'll easily note this. 2 Likes |

DubaiLandLord: It appears you can read but comprehend. Ibadan and Abeokuta were old urban departments from the 50s when urban planning was a dream. Unlike Osogbo which was a absolute backwater in 70s and had experienced a turn of modern urban planning lately. |

booblacain:Where is the Yoruba vs Ibo now? Ops observation is true. The only Yorubas on this thread bringing ibos are the Yoruba one nijeriyanist. They believe every Yoruba that doesn't support their demonic one nijeriya is ibo. They call themselves nationalist buh hate a certain part of the one nijeriya they clamour for all the time. Seen the many confusion in their head? 8 Likes 1 Share |

kevapet: I was making comparison based on what I saw in the different rallies organized in the 3 cities. Osun rally is currently ongoing and the city looks very modern, clean and serene (the cars on the road also look better). Whereas in Abeokuta and Ibadan, everywhere looks rusty, unkempt, dirty and a lot of cars that should be crushed are still on the road. It's an observation and this should even be a yardstick to question those who have been governing Abeokuta and Ibadan on where all the resources meant for their respective states have been going. If Osun could modernize with less, what's stopping the richer Ogun and Oyo states? This is the question the useless illiterate omo ales on this forum should be asking. But it's always about accusing everyone of being Ibo. These weak illiterate bastards are actually making Yoruba look weak with how they have nightmares about Ibos that are just loud and self-aggrandizing tribe with no bite. Awon omo ale jati jati. 4 Likes |

Ibadan is a very large city 3080 square kilometres, you can't do justice to Ibadan with just pictures from some few rally shots, Ibadan is bigger than Lagos in land mass 3080 km² to ; Lagos 1,171 km² Ibadan is bigger than Osogbo, ratio 3080 km² kilometres square to : Osogbo 47 km² killometers However Oshogbo has an independent power plant and they have mad electricity that attracts yahoo boys and investors . 6 Likes |

Just an harmless discussion, stupid bigots are derailing the thread. What concerns ibo or yoruba involvement here now? Y'all should slide tribalism aside and tend intellectually to this thread. And OP, to your question, seyi makinde is just yahya bello. Young, corrupt fellas. I left ibadan in 2017, came back this early this year. I noticed more cars on our tiny roads, more potholes, traffic like no other, no mentionable development or so. Just new cars for the police to abuse our human rights. The entry road into the town, Iwo road is a mess! On a clean and maintained environment, I've been to some towns in osun state and I can say that aregbesola tried in his might. But GSM is just two years in. Lets see if he's any different. 8 Likes |

sweetshisha: He learnt from his predecessor. Ajimobi also played politics with akala's project. You remember the 8bn mokola flyover? The 4bn large empty water tank at the second gate of Liberty stadium? More ghost and abandoned projects sef that we can't start deliberating on. Lekan salami stadium? The development has been on for years now. Which when done, the major upgrades would only be a new grass pitch and the aluminum design covers on the pitch. |

I went to visit my boss when i landed in ibadan. He said he's living in kasumu estate at new garage. When I entered the area, I was like y'all need to go to abuja to know the meaning of estates and stop abusing the word. From my pov, ibadan, my City is just an enclosed village city, devoid of family planning. Only the few rich people area are developed. My secondary school (AIHS) was at the back of ajimobi's house in oluyole. Oluyole and some other areas are only the places that they planned. Others? Just buy land, dem no send if your land encroach into a street. Jampacking everywhere. Have you been to bere, ita moya, gege, all those areas? Then you'll know what I'm talking about. No iota of city planning! Don't get me wrong o, ibadan is a nice city. But can't compete on city planning compared to towns I've been in osun. 7 Likes |
