A Lagos-based advocacy group under the aegis of The Progressive Youth Wing (PYW) has declared in strong terms that the Primaries did not take place in the Surulere Local Government area of Lagos.

This was made known through the Spokesman of the group, Ibrahim Alowonle. The group "strongly condemns the violence that erupted on 29 May 2021 in some areas of Surulere area of Lagos, that has now resulted in at least two deaths and injuries to several residents", the group said in a statement.

The leading candidate, Idris Aregbe in a statement released earlier also condemned the killing of three-party members faithful to him. The death and thuggery occasioned by Baresi and Faida led to the election not holding across all wards in Surulere local government.

Election was held in five wards out of nine wards.
In those five wards, Idris Aregbe could not muster 300 votes in total while his opponent SYB had more than 2000 votes in total.

Idris is only out to tarnish the image of the leadership in Surulere. He was the one that imported thugs from Fadeyi to come and forment trouble.
