The federal government has launched a steering committee headed by Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment on Export Expansion Facility Programme of the Economic Sustainability Plan chairs by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN.

The steering committee was launched for the implementation of N50 billion Export Expansion Facility Programme, facility meant to aid economic recovery through the export capacity in the imidiate term as well as increase export value in the medium term.

The scheme is expected to boost export services and encourage exporters especially during the ravaging Covid19 pandemic, this is made known by the Executive Director, Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) Mr. Segun Awolowo when he answering some questions in weekly have your say programme at the federal radio corporation of Nigeria (FRCN)

The NEPC boss reiterated that the FG plan to regenerate the nation's economy, he said, "the President is commited to boost the economy by encouraging the exporters with grants relief which inturn improve our foreign exchange as well as save job and create new ones."

The EEFP is an unprecedented programme; one that seeks to democratise discovery of exporters and their access to relevant government incentives to grow, it is basically meant for companies that base in Nigeria; produce and sell anything to customers outside Nigeria. Intending applicants can forward their proposals to info@eefp.gov.ng or the NEPC Headquarters.

The exporters can apply for grant via https://eefp.ng: the agency will verify the qualified applicants and then money would be sent to them.

Mr. Segun reinstates the agency's position toward Zero Oil Plan which concerns improving agricultural products for exportation, he said "in agricultural sector, the federal government would encourage processing, and increase productivity especially in sugarcane, soybean, rubber, coacoa and others because right now, Nigeria is producing less than 300,000MT coacoa annually compare to Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire that produce 1 and 2 millionMT respectively."

He commended the ACFTA as a great idea, "We welcome the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement area; it is big for Africa, in fact the biggest free trade zone in the world; GDP of $3 trillion with estimation of about 1.2 billion people, that is why the Nigeria Export Promotion Council is building an army of exporters so that we can exports most of our product to those countries and Mr. President has given a matching order toward this and we are really working hard to realise this goal."
