Please do if you can. Since you already have an MSc you can start another MSc (shorter study duration) or apply for a PhD (longer study duration) while studying also get some relevant IT skills

Only do a PhD if you are motivated to do it. Not because someone suggested it.

I’ve always wanted to know why this is, not fair tbh sad

Paccus:
Bro you are confusing “Illegal Immigrant” to “immigrant” ... Not everyone was once an illegal immigrant.. There are students who go to school in USA, After their schooling they got a job that sponsored their green card, they are immigrants not illegal immigrants..There are thousands of people from South America that are escaping violence and come to a valid POE to claim Asylum and are granted entry they are “immigrants” not “ illegal immigrant”.. Citizenship doesn’t determine if someone is an immigrant or not.. if Macky becomes a citizen tomorrow, he’s still a immigrant.. Even His Kids can claim to be immigrants because we have 1st generation immigrants, second generation Immigrants and Third Generation Immigrants. Linda Ikeji child would be an Immigrant whenever he goes back to the USA.. He’s a first generation immigrant by definition,He’s not an illegal immigrant.. Being a first generation immigrant he can’t contest for Presidency in the United States.. That’s the Law.. it may be unfair but it’s the law

Bro can i message you personally about the Mpower loan
MackyNaija:

This will be true if you stick to the original loan interest rate.

I 'consolidated' 2x mpower 10year loans I had from 10%, 13% or 17% (can't remember) to 5% for 7years (4.75% discounted with direct deposit set up)...

Paid that for 1+years and 'refinanced' this October to 3% for 5years (discounted to 2.75%)...

Means I'll only pay about $1,200 in total as interest for the remaining life of the loan. No need to rush repayment.

Depends on how you define first generation American. The Constitution sets out three eligibility requirements to be President: must be 35 years of age, a resident “within the United States” for 14 years, and a “natural-born Citizen" (includes children born in the U.S. by immigrant parents - legal or illegal). Naturalized citizens i.e. became Americans via the greencard route, cannot run for the Presidency.

You are indirectly "illegal" because you lied to the VO during your visa interview that you would come back to Nigeria to work after your studies, [assumption 1, how are you so sure this discussion came up during my interview?] ***You are having a hard time distinguishing between an illegal and a legal immigrant*

…just for you to get your F1 visa but you rather married a citizen and adjusted your status [perfectly legal] and preconceived intention [assumption 2, meaning I had thought out and was sure I’d be adjusting status?] is "illegal". Please tell me, is telling lies [assumption 3, you are so sure I told a lie?] "legal" in America embassy. You would have told the VO that you would adjust your status after your studies [assumption 4, you are so sure this discussion came up] so you will completely "legal" by saying the truth.

Don't take it personal. Please try not to be too holy [I have always said I am not without blemish] while forgetting you have benefitted from such system you are against I stand by what I said – I am against ILLEGAL migration anywhere in the world.

I stated my thoughts and experiences (as the thread title says) and you moved to an analysis of my life.

Again, taking out your opinions and feelings will make you analyze laws (see pompeii reference the constitution above) with a clearer lens and in neutral light.
I didn't write the laws.

This is why I don’t discuss Religion and Politics – people can hardly set aside their emotions.
I have officially added Race and Immigration to the list. Thank you.

What do you mean by ending the deal?? You are not buying the house again?

Pulled out of the deal... See my previous post below, like I knew what was in the offing:

In yankee reality, we just bought a house... In my head, this will be 50% done when we sign the actual contract and 100% done when we 'close' on the house and the keys handed over to us. It has been a stressful 4 weeks and glad this seems to be getting to a logical close.

We were sent an email for a "time sensitive offer" on Wednesday evening, without previous notice, these were totally different floor plans/designs from what we had discussed with the sales rep (lady C). We adapted, selected a new design and replied under 30minutes that we were very interested..

Thursday: No feedback from them, had to go in person to ask what was happening and why the silence. Paid the earnest money that afternoon.
Around the evening time, Lady C called "congratulations on your new home! You'll receive the contract in 15 minutes"...
15 mins later, no contract... 50 mins later, still no contract.

Friday: Went there in person, still no contract sent.

Saturday: No contract, multiple texts and calls from our Realtor... Story "We have the contract on the systems, we'll send it out when Lady C comes to the office". Day ends - no contract.

Sunday: Realtor went to their office in the evening, stilll... No contract!

Monday: More stories.... Still no contract..

Tuesday: No contract... We were done with that system of NO communication... How bad would this get if we had issues during construction that needed to be addressed?? 7 days was enough time to know this was a bad sign. We told them we were no longer interested.
They voided the Earnest check. Case closed.

Good morning everyone! Please I have a question. I am strongly interested in migrating to the US. I am a graduate. If my PhD applications are successful I will be traveling next year on F 1 visa. My fiancee is studying nursing. What is the best/easiest/legal way to migrate with her so she can work as a nurse? She can't work with F-2 visa while I am on F-1

She needs to be a nurse first, before she can work as a nurse.

Hi bro,
I have a question about mpower. Assuming I have a GA that covers tuition but not fees, can I collect a loan that covers for fees and dependants? Will it look okay?

Hello. Your wife must be finish her program as a registered nurse in Nigeria and work for at least one year before she can migrate to USA. She can work as a nurse in the USA but the process takes about 1 to 2.5 years. My wife was also a nurse in Nigeria before we migrated to the USA. I was studying on FI and she was on F2 visa. We adjusted our status to green card holder while I am still studying. Any bonafide nurse from Nigeria can migrate and work in the USA as a registered nurse. She would need to evaluate her credential with CGFNS and take the Nclex exam. Then, look for an agency or hospital to sponsor her adjustment of status and green card. If you need more clarification, let me know.

She already graduated from school of nursing (like 3 years ago) and has her Nigerian license. She is studying for her BSc. I sent you a pm.

Is she working right now ? She can migrate to USA, school of nursing diploma and registration with board of nursing in Nigeria is enough to start her immigration process .

If you are yet to come into the US, prodigy is better off.
Mpower deals strictly with immigrants so they need strong proof that you'll be successful in America...

That's why it is advised you have foots on ground, have done a year of studying (you are likely to complete the 2yr program), have done an internship (so at graduation, a job is more likely) and your past work history gives an indication of your future.

To your question, YES, the loan can be used to support "anything"... living cost, fees, car purchase, relocation for internship or full-time work and so on.

I can't remember but it was either...

- interest only payment in school or no payment in school
- grace period of maybe 3 months post graduation before the payment starts

I believe I have written the rate somewhere here (could be around 10%, can't remember becos I have refinanced multiple times and current rate is 2.75%).

Original duration was long, maybe 7 or 10years, monthly payment post graduation was not upto $300.

With the current refinance rate, total interest will not be over $1500 for the remaining 5 years, so I'd rather not payoff early and use my money for a Camry. cheesy
