Ok. But how will understanding human nature help us curb this now
OlogoJ:

Exactly bro. But now that those same drug dealers that were wrecking havoc in SA and other countries have seen a lucrative local market and are supplying the local demand therein, activists have started springing up to warn against the menace. If you understand human nature, then you'll know that this was bound to happen. It was only a matter of time.

media hype ,Mass hysteria , but for whatever agenda I don't know

Maybe to make igbos feel they are been targeted by the government ? By specifically injecting drugs in IMO when it is everywhere in Nigeria decades ago. The colorado is one they should be worried about , crack too.

This made me remember the crack epidemic in the United states.

The drug dealers sold drugs to their communities and then destroyed their communities literally they committed genocide against their communities.

The same situation is happening in the south east, they import drugs and poison their communities, lives will be ruined and families destroyed, the difference between the crack era and now is that the United states government stopped it by bringing down the drug dealers, here in Nigeria, it can't be stopped. It will spread to every corner of Nigeria.

In the coming years,we shall see the increase of mad and aggressive meth addicts, the bad thing is there will be no rehabilitation center for them, their families will abandon them and they will be homeless.

This is the effect of meth on the body

The United States gov aided the crack epidemic in the 80s through contras they were backing in Nicaragua. That's how the explosion happened. How do you fight what you gave implicit permission or direct assistance to bring it in to your own backyard?

The war on drugs was just a ploy to incarcerate innocent people (mostly coloured people). It was a failure.

Well I understand everybody just wan add something talk tho.

The Truth is, North and South West are the highest users of drugs in Nigeria. Colorado comes to mind. I think there is some form of preconceived agenda with this whole meth and South East brouhaha.

Checkmate the distribution cartel. You can’t stop drug abuse by going for the end users.

All this hoopla about MpuruMmiri is an after-thought and hypocritical as far as I am concerned. When the news media was awash with reports of numerous igbos being busted for peddling drugs in foreign countries, these activists were mute and dumb. But now that the chicken has come home to roost, they're making noise upandan.
they are coming back to develop dere home nah,abi charity no begin from home again?dey need to develop here first before any other place coz even dey do,dere ppl will find a way of pinning it on dss and d Buhari go t instead of tackling it headlong.

I am so baffled to learn from comments here that my fellow Igbo men are against this media war against drug abuse simply because other regions are also abusing drugs. Without this media war, communities will not take drastic measures against this evil. The communities are made aware of dangers drug abuse through this media war so they can learn from other communities how tackle the problem in their own domain.

The chicken has come home to roost.
Whatever a man sews ,he shall reaps. The Ibos of Nigeria sew narcotic seeds to many countries in the World.
They never thought the seed would one day germinate in the land of the rising sun.
For the issue to become a matter of national importance, it means the damages is incalculable.
The Ibos destroy Many souls in Europe, Asia and South Africa.
Many life are irreversibly destroyed by the Ibo drug barons, traffickers, and retailers.
Today, the drugs that is being exported to other nations is being consumed at a large scale in Ibo's land.
What an irony of life?
All the lives destroyed by the drug carrying ibos is now being set for destruction in Biafra land.

I'm probably the most unbiased person you'd meet on the internet. Again I'd say you should probably read up things properly before making assertions.

Maybe read a little into the presidency of Ronald Reagan and it's controversies, and then Nixon. Crack exploded during these times.

Blame it on ipob. Ibo youths no longer listen to their parents or elders, all because Kanu called the elders efulefus.

Ever since ipob took hold of the East, things have kept going south. Hunger, with people stealing pots of soup, biscuits, politicians bribing electorates with a can of malt and 400 naira, to wanton bloodshed and now an emerging opioid crisis. It is so bad the East is now being referred to as AfghanEastern.

Sad to see that Afghanistan is now safer and more prosperous than AfghanEastern. cry

How I wish some south africans were in this thread to read the hypocrisy spilled here. Shey when they were complaining that Nigerians are destroying their youths, they said nobody forced them to buy...all na hustling. For those saying the north are the most abusers of illicit drugs, might be true, but the major suppliers are igbos. Pharmacy business in Nigeria is mostly ran by Igbos. Now you feel what you cause on others.
