Berankis:

How about the ones you were given? Have you accounted for any? We all saw what happened with the NDDC the last time and the fainting Chairman. How the south-south past governors (Alamieyeseigha, James Ibori others) mis-managed funds. Ownership of oil that you cannot do anything tangible with. As far as I know the monthly allocation of the south-south states doubles and some times tripples the allocation given to some states in this same country.
The south-south (& Nigerians) should be accountable first and every other thing will be fine.
The only thing I find unjust and inappropriate is the ownership of oil Wells in the south-south by the Northerners, that is what should be fought against.

That should not be enough reason to deny owners the ownership right of their resources.

Will a thief be right by stealing from a reckless drunkard?

Let ND utilise their money as they like, it's none of your business, stop lording over resource that is not yours

Obasanjo is right as per the constitution for now.
The kind of leaders we have today even with resource control, the citizen will still suffer. These politician will still convert state resources to their personal property.
What Nigerians need is accountability and needs to start from the grassroots, we need to ask questions about statement of affairs and stewardship of our representatives not minding our party affiliation starting from the counsellors, local government chairmen and so on

Great input but where do we start from?
Every sector seems to be in decay

Bros I will try Al my best not to be overly emotional about this.. But please it will be better if you take this advice dearly. Until you understand this battle is between the upper class and the lower class, then there won't be any change in this country. There's no difference between wike, bihari, Tinubu atiku and all. These guys don't see themselves through the lens of religion and tribe,. They only see themselves through the lens of interest that is available to share. The masses are just too dumb to see this. Until those people from the lower class come together in unity this country will always get worse. Anyone who believes Nnamdi kanu and Sunday igboho are fighting for a sincere course is stupid and naive. It's still the same political class who don't have enough access to the Commonwealth are still the same people who are financing all these guys and these guys are being paid heavily. When it's time for revolution everyone and by everyone I mean the lower class will plunge out to correct wrongs in our societies. Bro know this and have peace
God Bless you. Too much sense in one post.

That is not right. Only some elites in SW does that. Most SW people are fed up of this evil country. And the political elites from SW are no different from those from other parts of Southern Nigeria. In fact, more SW non-political elites openly clamour for Nigeria breakup than any other groups in southern tribe. There are more civil society groups in SW that are currently pursuing Yoruba-Nation agenda than what you have anywhere else in the south. Except their approach is largely non-violence.

I stopped reading after the first paragraph because it appears Ozekhome SAN is just scouting to see if work will appear for him here. The heading states that he disagrees with OBJ, but his first paragraph already states that it is in the law, so what are u disagreeing again?? Goan argue with ur fellow SANs on if the law is fair or not and leave these two dragging themselves in public. This just feels like Wizkid FC & 30BG are arguing music, Speed Darlington will coman chook mouth! grin

truth is, we might cry fowl all we can, but what have the Niger Delta governors done with the 13% allocated to them since year 2000 or so? Trying to copy the American federation hook, line and sinker will be our undoing. Adapt your federalism to suit your needs. Rivers state gets over 13bn monthly while Anambra gets like 5bn. What have they been doing with the excess?

GEJ was a "meek" but good man. It is unfortunate that NG system needs a cold hearted good man like Wike.

I like both GEJ and WIKE.

GEJ didnot put the rod in the red sea and the Egyptians crossed over and are now dealing with the Nigerians (NG threatened GEJ not to put the rod down into the red sea through)

If WIKE campaigns for presidency I will vote for him but GEJ will forever have a special place in my heart ..... so as OBJ (even though I am against his adamant decision not to decentralise the country - OBJ is still one of the best presidents we have had.)

GEJ remains my number one president sha. A gentle dove, a kind man placed in the seat of a warrior cry

the presidents you love are all useless. Made little or no contribution to the growth of this country. From 1960 till date, all our leaders are nothing but colossal failures.

Yet all your long stories did not disputed what Obasanjo said constitutionally.what are you trying to tell us now? Constitutions said oil and other minerals resources belong to Nigeria not Ethnic .... Have you change the constitutions? If you think is yours why don't you take it ? Where were your poeple then when the constitution putting together? Are you telling us the constitution is new or if it is not new why are you making unnecessary noise now when your elders / leaders had already failed you in your region? You need sense not Noise to get more from Nigeria property ,claiming it verbally can never make it to be yours bcs you have nothing to back it up.

See this one. We won't explore the ondo and Lagos Oil to the maximum capacity yet and that's where we are wiser than you all. Lagos exploration hasn't even cimmenced yet. Mention any Niger delta state that's more developed than ondo state in spite of the huge allocation at their disposal. I'm waiting. We have the 2nd largest deposit of bitumen in the world, in same ondo state. Google is your friend. Its for the future. If you know, you know.

Your post is a clear indication that we're wiser and smarter than you guys. We are talking of first oil discovery but you completely deviated from the fact, only harping on the aftermath of oil discovery in Nigeria. If we could do so much in our region from proceeds from cocoa, had the oil been first discovered in our region, our region wouldn't have taken any of the shiits you guys took, thereby cause your region to be so destroyed, impoverished and the multinationals abandoned cleaning up the region. Truth is bitter, you know and that's what I'd like you to come to terms with. There are oil companies' head quarters in our region and we made them develop and take charge of environmental hazards caused by them. Have you been to Lekki and VI before? Go see them there. They're well behaved and that's what makes the difference between the 2 regions. I remember the day I visited Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in okolobiri, which looks like a glorified health centre. No meaningful development there. The population of okolobiri isn't up to 30k yet, no single street light there and there's an NLNG facility there flaring gas. No.good hotel, people relied on generator and i asked them why were they so backward, they said their people who collect royalties from the oil companies live in abuja and only give them crumbs. Such nonsense won't happen here.

Mr SAN is right and wrong. I beleive the Oil should belong to the landowner and govt collects taxes. But he is wrong because the law says the oil belongs to the Federal govt and so long as the law says it belongs to FGN, it belongs to FGN. if you dont like it (i dont) change the law.

BTW i dont like people saying America does this Britain does that...we are not America or Britain.

Olusegun Obasanjo is part of the Nigeria's problem, if the oil is in the West would he open his mouth to say it belongs to Nigeria. I remember vividly when he ceded Bakassi Pennisula to Cameroun, Wole Soyinka asked him "if Bakassi was in Ogun State would he have ceded it to Cameroun" , till today he didn't answer the question posed to him by Prof. Soyinka.

Did any southerner in the ruling party condemned all these things you mentioned? The answer is no. Only people from the opposition. Same style with when Jonathan was in power. They are playing on our intelligence. Bihari will leave by 2023 and by then we will still come here to lament. It's they versus we. Until we understand this there is no moving forward bro

You seems not to understand what is happening in this country.

The nepotistic nature of Buhari is not an masses versus elite dichotomy

The mining of gold in Zamfara by state government is not an elites vs masses scheme

The concentration of security chiefs in one region is not masses verses elites plan

The militarisation of southern Nigeria with numerous checkpoints while northern roads are left without such barricades has nothing to do with elite vs masses

The concentration of absolute power at the centre has nothing to do with masses or the rich.

This is clear Nationals war, it is scheme to dominate and oppress
