Good afternoon Gazzuzz,

Please can i use carb cleaner (there is this one they sell 1,200 in nearly all stores) to clean my MAF (toyota corrolla 07)

I dey get rough idle, car will almost want to off when i press break, more obvious if am on AC.

I have change fuel pump, clean injector mouth, change fuel filter. I notice some improvement though.

It seems na MAF remain..I have watch youtube videos and i think i can DIY.

But i notice in some videos they warn not to use carb cleaner while in some video they say its okay. I notice they use valvoline carb cleaner mostly. Which one do you suggest? which one you dey use?

Thank you.

Don't use carb cleaners on MAF. Don't.
There are special MAF cleaners.
Personally, I just use a soft brush and then blow a little air through it. And I always feel the difference with that alone.

Thanks boss.
But please can you explain why.
Thanks

I, also, will not advise such.

I have inspected some in the past.
IMO, most naija used '09 manual Corollas have been bastardized before being put up for sale.
Just my 2 cents.

They are good grade Nigeria used cars. It only requires due diligence when buying

Exactly, infact, I have seen many good ones.
But for the '09 manual Corollas, I am yet to see any good grade naija used. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

Good evening Gazzuzz,

I once brought the issue of my coolant disappearing and after all checks, I noticed the following.

After driving without AC, the coolant remains the same week after week.

If I use the AC, the car starts overheating if I stay long in traffic, without much traffic the car doesn't overheat, but the coolant disappears. I noticed that the coolant will remain after driving but the return pipe into the reservoir will be blowing hot air which eventually causes the coolant to evaporate.

The vehicle is Toyota Corolla 2010 and the radiator is single cell.

How can this be fixed so that it continues working normally as before.

Very likely that one of your radiator fans is faulty. Confirm the two fans are working while the AC is on.

Have you notice any trace of coolant leakage between the cylinder head and engine block?

Just carefully find the point of leakage and you will know the solution

Good Morning Gazzuzz,
I have a honda accord 2009 3.5L. I got a blinking light on the gear 'D'.
This clears after the car is restarted but after a few KMs, the blinking resumes.
Scanned with the OBDII tool and gave the error code P1743 (Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Failed On Conditions).
What would be the possible solution to this before i have someone doing trial and error with the gear box.
Could issues with the torque converter also cause overheating?

Thank You.

Your shift solenoid is the culprit.
Had a guy who complained of same thing but added that it revs high to about 3,000 RPM before it shifts to second gear. Gave him same advice and he did as told. Came back with positive feedback.

So, meet a competent transmission guy to change your shift solenoid.

Absolutely no trace of leakage. The coolant only disappears after using AC. Like I said earlier, the return pipe to the coolant reservoir then blows how air which evaporates the coolant. After driving with AC and I open the bonnet, the coolant reservoir is full but when you come back about an hour or two later, the coolant in the reservoir has vanished while the radiator is full

You say coolant has evaporated and you are losing coolant. Then you say coolant is in the reservoir and it goes back to the radiator when cool.
Your statements seem contradictory.
Or maybe I'm not getting the clear picture.

Having coolant go into the reservoir when hot and then return to the radiator when cool is a very normal operation. However I wouldn't expect the reservoir to be full at first then go totally empty later.

You should probably post a pic of your radiator and its reservoir, (just one pic only, showing both), and that's only if Oga Gazzuzz allows that for his thread..

Attention @GAZZUZZ

Attention @GAZZUZZ

Kindly read my submission again. I was reporting different scenarios. For context, let me narrate it again.

I drive for one week without AC, everything is fine, coolant is normal, no issues.

I drive with AC and notices the coolant (reservoir) greatly diminished or totally disappeared but coolant in radiator is normal. I top up the reservoir. Puzzled, I move to the next experiment.

I drive with AC and immediately I park at the end of the day, I open the bonnet and check and see my coolant in the reservoir full but the following mornings I check and it's either gone or at the bottom. No leakage anywhere.

Then I also notice that if I stay long in traffic while AC is on, the car starts overheating, but when I'm in constant motion with the AC in operation, no overheating.
