Hi Guys So the SMK hybrid 3kva inverter installed at home have developed some weird charging patterns, this started after the main fuse in my junction box burnt. Ive since replaced it but right now when I connect the inverter to mains it starts charging from the set charging current of 25a, but after some 20mins this charging current would weirdly start dropping to 0a even though the battery hasn't gotten enough charge to warrant this current reduction. The typical pattern would be that it'd continuously maintain the set current till the battery has gotten to some 90%+. Please how do I approach this? my hypothesis is that the inbuilt charging unit is broken but I cannot explain this. |

kola42: Adding lead acid battery is not an option.. especially when they have different capacity and age Consider full upgrade instead. |

In general these Axpert type clones are very failure prone - that is why I do not like them. If you purchased direct from China, reach out to the seller and they will usually send you a replacement board under warranty to fit it yourself - of course do not mention that you had a fuse burn out in your mains supply - just focus on the issue. If you purchased locally then invoke the warranty or repairs support or take it to the Arena and Alaba folks for a fix - I would rather replace the entire board myself than let our average half baked repairer tinker with the board - IMAO electronics repair skills and standards in Nigeria are terribly poor. guente02: 2 Likes |

Hello gurus in the house, due to this light situation, I’m doing an online course and I’m looking at installing a small solar system, ive been contacting people but I really don’t know much about this, I only need light to power my laptop which is 65w, be able to use fan (I’ll buy a fan of 30w or lower) and on 2 white bulbs for 8-10 hours daily. These are what I got so far, please advice me as if you’re advising a novice because I don’t know anything about this. 1. 220k comes with 3 solar panels of 80w poly each and 15 yards solar wire with 150ah Lithium battery and inbuilt 1000w Inverter 2. 200Ah battery@130,000 1kva inverter system@85000 300watt solar panels@75,000x2=150,000 30amp charging controller@35,000 Installation kits/installation@50,000 Total @450,000 but this person said I can still get for 370k Problem now is I feel this is a bit much just to get my laptop charged, please help analyze this and help me come up with something pocket friendly that will still work for what I need, they all keep asking me about TV but I don’t care about that, I just need my laptop on so I can work freely, thanks. |

guente02: I suppose this would have something to do with the charging parameters. Check to make sure the settings haven't been altered. I experienced the same with Growatt and increasing the charging voltage solved it. 1 Like |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Why shouldn't he report his fuse got burnt? You called the axpert a failure, I know many that have used axpert for years till today. We just want to hide our own fault and discredit others. What could have burnt his fuse, it means there's an issue somewhere and he should fix that otherwise it could happen again. Hybrids are very sensitive to lightening and power surges from mains. Many don't have a proper earthing or thunder arrestor system in place. 7 Likes |

kiekie1: Yohako is a company that deceives. I bought a 2kva solar generator from them. They worote on the front that it has 110AH Lithium battery, but when I opened it, it contains only a Gel Cell lead acid battery. This Lithium battery you are selling I doubt if it's really Lithium, coming from Yohako. I will never buy any product from them again 11 Likes 1 Share |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by netotse(m): 11:14am On Apr 01, 2022 |
mcTrinity: Wrt the second ATS, TOMZN has a disclaimer on Aliexpress saying that it is not to be used with inverters, I believe they have a second version that is compatible with solar + inverters. You can ask @bigbrovar where he got his. It might solve the problem you're facing. Picture attached to this post, notice instead of Generator it has PV/inverter written on it. Personally I use the one you have shown with my multiplus and don't have any issues. 1 Like

Team, Please, I have two banks of Amaron Quanta the white carton type and the coloured carton type, (see the attached pic) both are bought about same time and has been fairly used, not more than max 60 -70% depth of discharge at few times and most time less than 50% DOD. I have a reason to combine the two banks for better efficiency and capacity, I have the intention to connect both to busbar and then connect the inverter/charger to the same busbar. I want the experienced hands to help confirm; 1. If the two battery has same charging parameters? If so what's the suggestion for the charging parameters. 2. Is there any confirmatory tests to verify these battery can be combined 3. I have a battery desuphator, can I connect this across the busbar? will it be effective. 4. One bank already has battery balancer with midpoint voltage monitoring, can I setup same for the second bank so the two banks has independent balancers or I should reconnect the whole battery into one big bank and put a single balance across. Comments form all experienced hands in the house is appreciated

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 3:05pm On Apr 01, 2022 |
The official answer is not to combine batteries that were not commissioned and used exactly thesame - some will even tell you they must come from thesame production batch In reality you may succeed in this enterprise but the first question is what is your inverter nominal voltage? If you are setup as 12v then your scheme should work no trouble - 24v or 48v nominal is where things get spicy... Godliftedme: 1 Like |

My Oga please point to where in my post I 'called the Axpert a failure'? I did say the 'Axperts are failure prone' as you have confirmed they are easily damaged by surges and lightning due to an abysmal lack of any protection and poor electrical isolation in the internals In processing a warranty claim you want to focus on the specific product issues e.g {'my inverter stopped charging properly, I have done X and Y but the situation did not improve'} and downplay any related circumstances e.g there was a thunderstorm in my area that may impair your claim - this was generic advise I gave. zeestone99: 3 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by NiyiOmoIyunade(m): 3:19pm On Apr 01, 2022 |
I believe you and I discussef this offline. Once a device/circuit sees 220v across Live and Neutral you are good to go - that the power source is split phase should not be an issue. You can test this with an el cheapo relay and see that it switches with no trouble off the inverter split phase AC out. The real issue here is likely faulty isolation of the neutral wires with the use of common neutral bus for Mains and Inverter at either the DB or transfer switch - you need to setup such that inverter output neutrals feed the inverter loads directly and totally isolated from mains neutral. If you wire the loads and main transfer switch correctly you should have no trouble with your ATS switching cleanly. mcTrinity: 1 Like |

AkoEja: If you didn't buy from Bokevin Global Ltd, know that you bought from unscrupulous characters that deceived you. Their solar generator comes in 500w 12v 65Ah LA battery (which has been phased out) and 1500w 24v 65Ah LA battery. As for the Lifepo4 batteries, they are real and have the true rated capacities. 3 Likes |
