If there is one person in the history of Nigerian politics that really disappointed me to no lengths, it has to be Adams Oshiomole. From his days as a thorn in Obasanjo's flesh, you would think this guy stood for the masses. He called himself a comrade and as a leader who championed the needs of millions of Nigerian workers, he stood opposed to Obasanjo's policies which were not in the general interest of the public. In his simple Khaki outfit, he felt like every other commoner who was experiencing the biting impact of a failing Nigerian economy. Anyone may have claimed at that time that he was the hope Nigeria needed. Squarely because of his activism,

Alas! He too had a price. He became a governor and things changed. He started rigging like every other stupid Nigerian governor and wanted to become political godfather. Who would have believed the Adams Oshiomole of the early 2000's would turn into such a corrupt politician with a trophy wife? Adams is a disaster and a clear evidence that Nigerian activisits have no honor. He is a shining indication that people like Omojuwa, Tolu Ogunlesi, and every other Twitter warrior are just waiting for their turn to eat in the national cake. Nigeria is finished! I wonder how much good can come out of that country every again.

Oshiomhole said he chose to celebrate his birthday with his people because he was conscious of his origin as a nobody, given birth to under a tree by his mother but destined by God to be what he is today."---Oshiimhole

A very confused message about why you are running for a political office!
I am talking about a former labor leader,a former state governor for 8 years, a former chairman of a major political party not able to Make an inspiring speech to open up his campaign for senate job.

Why is Mr oshiomhole running to become a nigerian senator?
His opening speech should begin with why he is running for senate and didn't.
I am so shame of why Nigerians leaders cannot communicate effectively.

Dude, Oshiomhole did not attend any higher institution but he is a very good and eloquent speaker. He speaks fluently and intelligently. I have seen him speak life in events and have also watched him on television. Dude speaks impeccable English. That's something you can't take from him.
The event wasn't an interview session, so he wasn't answering questions from anyone. He was just making a speech. The day I respected that man was when I watched him making a speech on the day he was resigning as leader of the NLC, prior to declaring for edo governorship in the year 2006. He spoke for hours without reading from any prepared text, except from reading once in a while from the prepared speech. When it comes to spoken English, leave it for Oshiomhole. During his time as governor, he was always making long speeches on TV without reading from any prepared speech.

Well, during oshiomole activism, he was cashing out from Obasanjo government, running secret bargaining, unknowing to people. Where did you think he got the money to pursue his campaign for governorship?
Almost all the roads he did as Governor in Edo State are nowhere to be found, substandard roads, Edo specialist hospital he built with state money, nobody knows the owner of that hospital till date.
Every average Nigerians are opportunists, for you to know them, give them political positions and see their actions.
We worship money in Nigeria and that will keep alot of Nigerians in the position they are now.
Politicians are gathering money now to buy votes, buy judges and buy lawyers to pursue their tribunal cases.

Or are you guys doing this because he is " my brother" and "my tribesman". That same religious and ethnic sentiments that has kept Nigeria where it is today that the common man cannot feed.

Have a rethink dear.

There are people who make speeches by reading verbatim from a prepared text.
Oshiomhole made that speech without reading from any paper. What I mean is except occasionally when he needs to speak on certain topics on the paper or sub headings. That's what I meant. Other than that, dude spoke without reading from the paper.

WarriFirstBorn : “Dude, Oshiomhole did not attend any higher institution but he is a very good and eloquent speaker”

WarroFirstBorn,
Thank you for letting me and this audience to know that Oshiomhole is not a university graduate—that kind of ease my concern about the low quality of education in Nigeria. In fact, his opening speech proved he is not a university graduate. He talked nonsense instead of going straight to why he is running for senate.

And I disagreed with you wholeheartedly, for saying that Mr. Oshiomhole is a good speaker. He is not in any way near a good speaker. Maybe in your standard, but not mine.

A good speaker opens up a speech with why he or she has decided to jump into the senate race. That is what the audience wants to hear. Every other thing is nonsense.

So, my advice to Mr. Oshiomhole is to hire a good speech writer to help him to shape the message about why he is running to become a Nigerian senator. A good campaign message does two things: (1) helps a candidate for election to focus on what he or she will do if elected, (2) draws a strong and clear contrast between candidates for election. That way, voters are able to choose a candidate who will represent their interest in Abuja.

Senate is the Avenue for young politicians to groom themselves not for a man @ 70.

They will be the first to scream the youth are the leader of tomorrow, when that tomorrow comes, they will still be dragging leadership with us.
