DOCTOR'S REPORT

They got to their rooms and Sister Esther went down on her knees in the middle of bedroom and lifted her hands into the ceiling and spoke.
“Father! You are the one that giveth children. You are the one that commanded us to go into the world and multiply. You said you know the plans you have for us, plans of good and not of evil. Who is it that said, and it comes to pass when the lord commands it not? Father! Hear my cry this day and prove yourself to me! Prove yourself to this heathen world! Prove yourself to this heathen compound!”

Mr Kingsley cleared his throat from the chair he sat in the palour listening to her. Sister Esther stopped praying and rose to meet him.

“What is that nonsense you were saying, Kingsley?”

“We have to take the doctor’s advice and abort.”

“You and who will take the doctor’s advice?”

“We will do it together.”

“Never! I will have my baby. I will have my baby and he will be whole. Watch and see. Watch and see!”

“I will not be a part of such a decision. If you insist, you will have to look for somewhere else to stay.”

‘I insist! I insist and I will be going nowhere! This is your fault! They said I will give birth to an imb*cile. Imbe! Kingsley your son will be an imbe!”
She said clapping her hands in his face. “And why not? Open your mouth and talk like everyone else you will not talk. Didn’t your heathen friend Cosmas who knows about spirits tell you that since you have been behaving like an imb*cile that you have commanded the spirit of imbe into your body and now you will be giving birth to one? You didn’t know? You thought that there would be no consequence for your idiocy? Now you can talk. Didn’t Tommy Hilfiger or Hulk Hogan say anything for you to quote for me now? Is it now that your mouth will be full with words? Yenyenyen you have to abort or pack and go kill you there!”

“Imbecility is not a birth defect. Imb*cile means a stupid person. A nincompoop. A mor*n. We are here talking about down syndrome, trisomy syndrome, XYY syndrome, triple X syndrome. It could be any of those. These are not easy to live with. When you don’t know and it happens that is understandable. But we have been forewarned and now have the chance to prevent a lifetime of heartache and embarrassment and misery and you are here talking nonsense. The only imb*cile I see here is you!”

“Kingsley you are an imb*cile! Your father is an imb*cile! Your mother is an imb*cile! I will have my child and you will see the power of God with your own eyes!”

“Not under my roof!”

“Come and remove me. If your name is Kingsley alias Undertaker come and remove me from here.”

“In the face of an obstacle which is impossible to overcome, stubbornness is stupid. – Simon de Beauvoir.” Mr Kingsley said.

“In the face of your own stupidity Kingsley, thunder will fire you! – Osuofia of Nollywood.” Sister Esther finalised.

Thanks for the update, There is place for miracle in the law, please which law is cosmos referring to cause I don't understand his take, he seems to be in between.

Mr Cosmas did talk a bit about the laws in this episode...https://katakatastreet.com/2021/02/17/chisco-in-the-coven/

He is making the point for the benefit of those who may think it strange that he believes in miracles.

FIRED

Mr Cosmas, Mr Kingsley and Jide accosted the strangers with the police officer.

“Gentlemen and ladies please how may we help you?”

“We got a distress call that two men were carrying out a sexual assault on a young lady in this compound. The children pointed to this door for us.

“Did you say two men?”

“Yes.”

Mr Kingsley and Mr Cosmas exchanged looks.

“Open that door and let me get out of here!” the band outside could hear a female voice saying.

The police officer produced his baton and began to club the door.

“There is no need for that officer. He will open the door,” Mr Cosmas said. “Please step aside and let me talk to him.”

“Efe you need to open the door now. The police are here. We are all here. There is no point.

“Police? How? I don become hostage-taker like this? Castro! See wetin you cause?”

“You people should go away. We are adults exercising our fundamental human rights!” Castro said.

“You will exercise fundamental human rights on your mother!” One of the girls that brought the police said.

“Which kind thing be this ehn? Castro! I swear if I escape this one your papa and mama no go recognize you again!”

“Open the door Efe,” Mr Cosmas said again.

Irikefe looked at Castro and then at Bunmi with eyes as soft as butter before unbolting the door.

Bunmi dashed to the side of the police officer. He shunted her to one side and hit Irikefe on the head with his baton. He cowered with both hands on his head and began to plead.

“Officer we did not touch her. We did not do anything to her. We were only holding a conversation.”

“Conversation? No more fiundamental human rights?”

“It is this idiot that said so but he did not know what he was saying.”

The officer slapped Castro across the face and he yelped like a puppy caught stealing baby food.

“You will both come to the station with me.”

Centino, I know this is me just being picky, or it might be an error, but how can Achike be in 2 places at the same time? He's among those discussing where he yabbed Josiah, and at the same time running after Chisco in the hospital parking lot.

Just an observation though.

Good observation. Tried to fix it (I hope).

Usually, I think about the council of elders independently as their discussion is central to what I'm doing with the story so it was always going to happen that there's that lapse.

Thanks.

STRANGE GIFT

“Gentlemen,” Jide Falomo began, Iniquity and Wasiu stole my pot of soup. The soup was three minutes to be done and they emptied it into a container and ran away. Please tell me, is that good?

“What is this one again?” Mama Cowbell’s husband said. “A whole pot of soup!”

“My woman put stockfish and snail inside. I spent 12,000 naira on the soup.”

“Lawyer! 12,000 for one pot of soup?

“She wanted something special. Went online and got the recipe and the preparation process and those riff raffs turned up and took it all away.”

“Lawyer I say you spent 12,000 on one pot of soup?”

“What is wrong with that?” Jide said.

“How much do you think they sell stockfish and snails? I’m sure there is still dry fish and meat inside,” Josiah said.
“But 12,000….”

“Is that what we should be concerned about or this ugly behavior. Alfa, you have to call your son to order. But first, they must return the soup or what is left of it otherwise…” Mr Zubi said.

“I’m sorry sir but I cannot have that anymore. They carried my food to God knows where and you expect me to collect it back from them.”

“The Iniquity we know will not return anything he has taken. Ndifreke’s keke is an example. And it is a shame that we did not do anything about that and now he is emboldened to remove soup from the fire. If tomorrow he feels like he will even take somebody’s wife or child and we will continue to keep quiet.”

“It was Ndifreke’s decision not to do anything about the keke. But the soup…” Mr Zubi said.

“We did not set up this council to let people do as they want. We set up this council to deliberate and take action as appropriate. Ndifreke did nothing because he could not prove that Iniquity took the keke. Nobody agreed to testify that they saw anything even though we all knew he did it.”

“He went to prison shortly after and you all forgot about it,” the Alfa said.

“Yes, but we did not address it. Call your son to order. He did not finish his sentence. Now that covid is forgotten he should go back to prison so that we can have peace.”

“Mr Josiah I will tell him you said so.”

“Erm Alfa. Please don’t misunderstand me.”

“Enough! Mr Zubi admonished. The point has already been made. We are here to find solutions. I’m sure no one expects this gentleman to go to the police over a pot of soup. And he is right, Even I wouldn’t take it back if it were brought to me. So the next best thing is for the boy to return the money spent on making the soup and apologize. He should also promise to be of good behavior because frankly if he carries on like this we will involve the landlord and ultimately the police.”

“That is noted Mr Zubi.” The Alfa said. I will find the money for this friend.”

"You are all that we need.”

Dreams money can't buy, baba go dey kpake too sisters, not just two sisters, but two full maidens with fresh blood and spirit oozing out.

There are folks who wouldn't mind to trade that position with Ndi while trashing all the regrets and consequences that comes with it.

Centino pls explain Ndi. I have followed this thread from day 1 and I know you don't portray anything without some significance and there must be a reason why Ndi is like this. He has essentially turned from a hero to villain who is hurting himself and I want to know why. Joseph is very correct. Irikefe and Castro would have stood up for him but he easily turns his back against them. Again he noticed the strangeness of Maya and Clementina but yet goes ahead to sleep with Clementina (I presume). What is happening to our hero?

Mr Cosmas. Hmmm. Where do we go from here. Mad sense there boss but also uncomfortable.

I believe Ndifreke has become a victim of circumstances - a victim of 225 Katakata. There are so many people who do not see the "potential"(if any) in themselves and do not see beyond what is in front of them. I believe Ndifreke is that kind of person. He is comfortable in his own bubble and does not want to go beyond it. Elizabeth, though just using him to satiate her konji every now and then, did have his interest at heart and does want him to excel, but his insane and unexplainable attachment to Maya is what no one seems to understand. People say first love, but who love help? Love kill you there. Maya is damaged goods. She is a left over piece of trash whom Jonjo used as a cum bucket, a salad tosser, a s£x toy and cast aside to the dogs after he had had his stomachful. She WILLINGLY went with him. She was not forced. The earlier this fool begins to learn that, the better it will be for him and the easier it will be for him to move on.
