To get nomination, register multiple EOIs on the 'federal portal' like you call it. For each EOI, select one state and indicate if you want 491 or 190 and if your occupation is on the 189 list, add it to the list.
For example,
EOIa - NSW 190 (tick the 189 box too)
EOIb - NSW 491 only
EOIc - SA 190 (tick the 189 box)
EOId - SA 491
You should create at least 4 to open up your chances. You can use same email address but note down your EOI numbers and passwords.

Then monitor each state migration website for their nomination requirements. For example, NSW requires ROI for 491 but not for 190.
If a state nominates your occupation and you did not create EOI for them, you can create a new one asap or modify one of the EOIs you have to that state.
The state points are automatically added when you select the visa class on EOI.
The federal draw is only for 189 and not for 190/491
If you apply for ROI in SA for example and you meet the requirement, you will get a pre-invite to submit documents to the state within 14 days. After which the state will approve your nomination and you get ITA directly from your EOI.

Good morning guys,

For those who raised 190 EOI for Victoria, have you received any emails from Victoria? I got a response to my ROI this morning and would like to know (from those who have more info or have gone through the process), what the next steps are.

Thanks in advance.

Hi tunlex01
I have been waiting for 491 grant since April 2020 without any CO contact. I have been considering doing reassessment and English test. To apply for 189. What do you think.

Your experience does not matter, they only assess education and supervised teaching practice. Yes I have teaching experience in Nigeria

Omg, thank you so much for this, so since i have b.ed in chemistry education and teaching practice, does that mean i can assess as a secondary school teacher? Even though my experience is in the primary school?
Pls if its possible, can i have your email so we can discuss further? I don't mean to bother but i had already given up till i came back to this post and saw this

tunlex01, kindly help look into this. Please, which applicants are eligible for the stream WA skilled migration occupation list (WASMOL) schedule 2

And what does that N signify under the work experience row of the stream 2 column in the attached screenshot?

I want to point this out to everyone. Pls kindly take note. Do your own research as well. I had just made a research and discovered that you can apply for WA 491 visa under stream 2, even without any work experience.

Sometimes lack of proper information is what makes some persons lose opportunities. I just want to point this out so you don't think you can't embark on this journey if you have zero work experience.

The atleast 1 year of work experience requirement clause is only applicable to Health and Medical Occupations ( which are under WASMOL Schedule 1 stream ).

Other occupations don't require any mandatory work experience to apply under WASMOL Schedule 2 stream for 491 visa. So, if your occupation is not Health and Medical related and you have no single work experience, do well to apply for 491.

They want more people to go to the regional areas by fire by force. That's the easiest visa to get right now. 190, requires you to provide a contract of employment.

491 is now the saving grace for many offshore applicants and those that don't have work experience like us! So, don't let work experience limit you from applying as long as you have the required English test score and have successfully asssed your occupation and ensure your occupation is on the list. Lots of new occupations had been added to the updated list.

This new program year is truly going to favour lots of persons. Courtesy of COVID-19!

Please do take note of the above for all those who fall under this category.

It’s a good option. PR is worth it and better than 491.
The only snag is if you get 491 approved, then you can’t apply for any skilled visa until after 3 years.

You need experience to assess for any Vetassess occupation.
Also, with Vetassess, you are still required to submit your first degree

Im seeing several assessment types online. Please, which one exactly am I expected to apply for? In another webpage, I saw Full Assessment for about AUD$ 962! undecided

I'm guessing it's the latter.

491 is a work visa.
No one can say. Fitter usually doesn’t require much points except there is a change in the new Financial year.
What is the reason for family coming to join later?
Personally, I’m not for it cos the stress of the application can be taken care once and for all and you all don’t have to land at the same time. You can land first then they rest of the family can join later.

Tunlex01 Thanks again for your assistance as usual.
I kindly what to be sure about something.
Must my wife write IELTS as a secondary applicant?
No intention of skills assessment for her and so no intention to get extra points for spouse.
if it is compulsory to have a proof of proficiency in English, Can a letter from her university as prove that she was taught in English be a sufficient proof?

No, it's not compulsory. You only don't get partner point.
yes, the letter and her transcript will be enough to proof functional English.
