Am sorry if am posting this on the wrong section.. I've to post it here since its to do with health.. Kindly pardon my ignorance..
Well meaning nairalanders.. My problem has to do with ear pus.. Have been having this ear pus problem right from when i was a kid as told by my mum.. She told me she tried all her best to find a lasting solution to it but all to no avail.. Infact, we're nt in a good terms because of this because i never stop having that belief that she took care of me well.. If she had did.. She'ld have gotten a lasting solution to it.. I feel real sad everyday about this health issue as i've to go out with two handkerchiefs on me and be at alert everytime because the ear pus slowly drips from my ear at any point in time.. So, have got to dip the handkerchief in my ear to get it cleaned up... While the second handkerchief is for other purpose like cleaning my face and the rest.. Its nt as if have been silent on this issue when i became grown-up and noticed this.. Since when i noticed this messy condition of mine.. Have been visiting one ear clinic to another but all they keep doing is swindling my money in the name of consultation fees, visiting fees and other nonsense fees.. I was given some medications in one of the clinic but it never worked.. I had to stop visiting when i got fed up of the #5k i do pay whenever i've to go lay complain.. I even went to a clinic today.. Upon reaching there, the next thing the receptionist started telling me was the same nonsense payment of consultaion fees worth #10k before i could be attended to and #5k anytime i need to visit for lay complain or whatever.. I was so sad and left there been disappointed. So many questions were running in my mind.. Why cant this people get me checked before asking me to pay? Is this people nt the same swindlers have been meeting since all these while? I was just fed up.. Infact, am the saddest person today when i remember all my stress in getting this messy health condition of mine treated.. I had to get myself drunk not to think much of it so nt to get my health affected again..
My life has been so messy because of this ear pus..
Well meaning nairalanders.. I beg u all in the name of God to help me with presription of a good drug i can use for this my ear pus issue.. Pls, have finally seen nairaland as my last resort.. Thats why i have to come on here to voice out since i dont see any clinic helping me out instead been a swindler.. Am 24yrs of age.. The ear pus takes place in the both ears.. Have search on google and found out that its CSOM.. 'Chronic suppurlative otitis media' atimes, hearing at once at night when am far from the person used to be problem. Nairalanders.. If u've had such experience before.. Kindly help me out.....

My cousin has a similar problem but it affects only her left ear. Since grown up she's tried many alternatives and still no luck, not only in Nigeria but overseas also. She's taken different antibiotics and the problem stops for a few hours and then its back. She even jokes that the day it stops that means she's dead. She's successful and now comfortable with it. Her advice to you is for you to first keep your money and stop taking alcohol. Clean the ears out with water, don't use soap and use cotton buds that can penetrate deep down inside. If possible avoid heat of any kind. Get a small towel and buy whenever you going out spray it with a good perfume and wet it a bit . If you feel the pus coming clean it out 'stylishly' around people u aint comfortable with but otherwise feel free to clean it out. Don't let it bring you down or decide your future. I feel your pain but its not you fault that its happening. It does not disturb you from achieving whatever trust me on that. Just try your best until money is not a problem then you can research and probably find a lasting solution. Good luck my friendsmiley

Sorry about your predicament.

Try the ENT clinic of Ifako Agege General Hospital (I'm assuming you are in lagos). Get there very early and register. It takes patience (which will finally pay off), but I'm sure you can get a lasting solution to this problem there.

Their doctors and nurses are highly competent, hospital fees are very affordable (I don't think there's anything like consultation fees. You only pay for the card, tests, drugs if you wish to buy them there and there won't be any issues of being duped - just make sure you pay at the accounts section).

In the meantime, it will be advisable for you to avoid swimming(if you do). Also, can you try and reconcile with your mum? Its quite understandable how you feel, but get rid of the "bad blood" and be in the right frame of mind in preparation for your solution. You may even need some form of support from her through the course of your treatment.

Good luck.

OP, sorry at your problem, you seem to have chronic otitis media which can be difficult to treat at times and can cause deafness. Please do not hate your mum - I believe she must have done her best concerning your predicament. Your problem can be solved and you need to adhere strictly to instructions while the treatment lasts. Like somebody has suggested, you need to see an ENT surgeon in a government hospital, that is where you can get the best specialist treatment although you have to be patient especially when you do not arrive at the hospital early enough of.
I hope you do shield your ears from water while taking your bath and when you are out in the rain, because no antibiotics can cure otitis media when you keep providing the micro organisms with a favourable condition (moisture) for growth and multiplication and possible antibiotics resistance.

Yes, its at Agege. Its ORILE AGEGE GENERAL HOSPITAL (I just got the correct name).
From iyana ipaja, cross to the other side of the express road, take a bus going to "Ile-epo"/Super (the ile-EPO means "filling station").
Stop at Ile-Epo market. Just beside the filling station, you will see a road where lots of keke napep and bikes are parked, walk down a little and you will see the hospital by your left (There's a shopping complex opposite it).
Try and get there very early and exercise lots of patience. Once you get there, ask the security men to direct you to where you will register. Take a number or write your name down on the list (this is to be sure that you are attended to, on a first come first serve basis, as there is usually a crowd waiting). When your serial number is called, you will obtain a card and will be directed to where you will see the general doctor. From here, you will be referred to the ENT, who will take it up from hence.

Hi @ OP. The condition you have- chronic otitis media, is the commonest cause of hearing loss in the West African subregion. It is also very common worldwide- I have worked in Nigeria, the UK and Canada and it is quite common. You need to see a an ENT surgeon. Given the duration, you probably require a major ear operation called- Mastoidectomy. This may not restore your hearing, but gives you a chance of a 'dry' ear ie no more discharge. There are no guarantees though, hence the chronic in the name of the condition. Sometimes you have to do the operation more than once. Get it treated because the condition has some dangerous complications including things like brain abscess! I will recommend you see someone in the teaching hospital nearest to you to start with. All the best and chin up!

sotum2: my brother i pray you get healed by the drugs the doc will give u for treatment concerning your ears,
incase you don't mind you can visit this thread https://www.nairaland.com/1262082/how-conquer-poverty-barrenness-spirtually/15#17069669

the man of God the people are talking about there is in sango ota, if u are in lagos
i sugest you go there, he does not collect money for prayers or spiritual items they will give to you. the day i went their first i met a man that came to thank him cos God used him to heal his daughter that has this kind of your ear discharge problem for yrs but just a word of prayer with blessed water cure her ears and purse discharge instantly. view the thread to see what am trying to explain.

Mtsheew. If your man of god can cure people's afflictions with his 'blessed water' then he should take the water to the hospitals where there are many sick and dying patients so they can be healed with the water.

Op, please visit a competent health professional for help on how to manage your condition because it seems a permanent cure is not going to be possible.
My sympathies for the troubles you are facing, I can not even imagine how difficult it must be to live with a problem like that.

Hello I'm just asking, did the apple cider vinegar work for you?
Re: .... by WorkhardAgric: 8:46pm On Nov 16, 2022
The problem can be solved if you take the right step.
My little boy has the same problem and it got resolved after meeting the right person.
1. You have not meet any specialist on that, seems you met only general ear practitioners. I consulted with a professor, ENT Specialist.

2. He put something inside the ear and the whole inner ear was displayed on a screen, everybody watched him explain each section of the ear.
3. The treatment depends on what was discovered.
4. Generally, the ear will be washed with some water solution.
5. For the fact that your still hearing means the ear structure has not damaged.
6. Quality antibiotics will be given to kill the bacteria etc.
7. The problem demans regular checks and follow up by the consultant until you're okay
8. If you have the money, visit private ENT hospital, else Teaching hospital .
