Good day house, pls my hubby renewed his passport last yr Sep and he was told it will come out this January, he visited London and decided to go to embassy to ask, but he was told till March that was the date that was written on the bottom paper he was given. he was shocked, bc he wants to travel for his dad burial around Feb.

pls is it possible for him to travel with expired passport? he has his indefinite leave residence card. pls kindly advice what is the best option to take. Thank you.

Yes, even visitors can buy a house if you have the money.

As a student/dependant follow the steps below:
1. Know the average cost of houses around your area to determine how much you need to have as deposit.
2. Ensure you have 25% deposit and more than 6 months remaining on your visa, preferable a year. I know Natwest lend if you meet this criteria.
3. Ensure you are employed as the lender will test your affordability
4. Start viewing the houses you like. You can view 2ice just to be sure
5. Place an offer on the house and if your offer is accepted, you will then look for a mortgage broker (free or paid) and convenyancer(solicitor) to help with the purchase. The convenyancer usually charge 1000+- 2000+ depending on a lot of factors
6. Get a mortgage offer and go through the convenyancing process. The solicitor will be the one doing most of the process. This can take 2 months to 6 months. So you have to ensure you continue meeting length of visa requirement.
7. Please note that you can easily be gazumped (seller can pull out) until exchange of contract. You also can pull out your offer anytime before exchange of contract
8. Exchange of contract then happens, after which you are locked in the purchase legally
9. Finally, completion few days after exchange. This is when you get your keys

Barclays can also do 90% LTV, but you should have stayed in the UK for three years and be on a work visa (or similar visa that has long term residency). Moneybox has a free brokerage service. You can chat them up and they will advise you based on your situation.

I know this was discussed here late last year. The consensus was ... such a person should bone up and travel
In doing so, (s)he must go along with
- expired 9ja passport
- 9ja embassy slip (confirming capturing)
- ILR card
Based on further posting, (s)he should also print the status from the NIS passport tracking site.
PS: I do not have first hand experience of this.

[Extract from article]
You have to show that you are a Nigerian, that is why we say they can come with their expired passport. Dual citizenship means carrying two passports.
The whole essence is that when they arrive, they must renew their Nigeria passport before going back,” the NIS spokesman added

@kwakudtraveller, Thank you bro, I completely agree with what you said, and I will work on it.
kwakudtraveller:

@businessnow: bro If you are going to go this route, just ensure you have been in the news in the last couple of years or less. And that you have industry people who can give you a letter of recommendation, like the C-suite level guys so either CEO's , Professors or heads of departments in tech or the field you are applying in even if it's research. Also make sure that when they google your name, that they can see a lot of meat, like speaking engagement and blog post, even if na twitter space you dey speak and flyer dey, run am, na something. You can start doing all these things now if you don't have them already and then you can apply some months or one year along the line so your profile go get weight, if you start now and you apply now, them go reject you based on say you do all these things to get the visa.

post=120166820]Good evening Seniors,

Is there anyone here who can accommodate me and my wife for 7 days in Manchester. I'll be landing Manchester on Jan 31st.

P.S: I just need this accommodation for this period of time as we plan to embark on aggressive house hunting once we touch down Manchester. I don't mind paying something little for the gesture. [/quote]

Bus/coach is best if you have lots of luggage, especially if the train trip has changes. You really don't want to be hauling luggage up and down platforms to catch trains that have just a few minutes change time - especially with the current cancellations and delays.

Bus will be cramped but you'll have rest of mind. Once you don enter you don enter be that. Even if there's a change or two it'll never be as rushed and liable to mistiming as trains.
