I've always compared India to Nigeria although Indians are more disciplined than Nigerians.

Visit all the firms in a random boulevard at Silicon Valley, 8 out of 10 will be managed by Indians. Most heads of Fortune 500 companies are Indians. They dominate medical practice in many Western Countries. India's generation Z outperform Western students in STEM courses in IVY leagues.

An Indian is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and many Indians have prominent roles in US, UK and Canadian governments.

Visit Mumbai in India and all you see is a "dirtier Lagos" . The bulk of Indians live in poverty and cannot afford the basic necessities of life. Those in rural communities in India have it worse.

It isn't political corruption. India's Prime minister, Narendra Modi has no child. He is a divorcee for decades with only books and writings to his name. When he dies, he will be cremated and his ashes may be thrown into water. Atal Vajpayee had no biological child too. So the argument of stolen resources cannot be logically raised.

Like Nigeria, India is still buried in religious superstition.
Like Nigeria, India has a worse tribalistic and caste system.
Like Nigeria, half of India has not been penetrated by rational thinking.
Like Nigeria, the part of India near Pakistan is home to some of the most vicious islamists on the planet.

The best we can have are people with a Messiah complex who build cult followings during election periods in Nigeria. The very fact that millions of people believe that a messiah can make this system evolve in a couple of years is the very proof that we're still far from that Utopian society we envisage.

Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium and UAE are heavens on Earth. However, they are not as powerful nor do they have more USD billionaires than India combined.

The richest black men in the Planet can only be Nigerians.

Nigeria is the India of Africa. Nigerians will always excel at home and abroad.

If you love yourself as a Nigerian grin, work diligently for a better life and you will lift your name, your family and Nigeria wherever you find yourself. That's what the intelligent Indians do. That's what the few intelligent Nigerians do.

We will only experience a beautiful environment with an amazing system when the bulk of Nigerians have more developed patterns of thinking than the early men.
The problem is that you are too mentally weak to even understand the point Omotola is trying to make.
She’s not talking about being poor or suffering from hardship but how the system works. For example now people can buy fuel but no fuel. There are people who can afford quality medical care but it isn’t available unless you look abroad. What of getting your passport, it’s now become a Herculean task. Quality and affordable basic education nko.
You see some of you just know how to speak English but in the grand scheme of things you aren’t as educated as you think

Oga this is not about religion, read the response I gave him below....

Oga, you are deviating from your self serving point, this is not about religion. UAE, Saudi Arabia, Italy are very religious countries and they are not doing bad, but that is not even the point here.

You claim Nigerians should work and help themselves the way Indians are doing all over the world and stop relying on the government to help them or change their situation.

I am here to tell you that it is good in itself but it is a self serving narrative if we do not hold our goverment accountable and ensure that they do the right thing and also blame them when we are supposed to, India used to be extremely corrupt, thought still corrupt to a certain level, but they are beginning to change that, that contributed a lot to their poverty level, China was also corrupt at some point but they had to take draconian laws against corruption and look at where they are compared to India that didn't, now compare India and Nigeria, India is now ahead of Nigeria because corruption has been decreasing in India and increasing in Nigeria.

The question is do we sit down and just say let us leave the government and be working for ourselves out of poverty and leave the government to keep stealing and destroying the environment were we work.

The story of the doctor or so that retired from America and came back to farm in Ogun state was killed in his farm by bandits, would you blame him or the government for coming to create jobs and provide food in his own country.

When someone like Omotola is complaining about bad governance, it is not about her or what she wil benefit, she is living fine, what about others, the reason why the country is where it is today is because of this same self serving mindset peope use to do things in Nigeria, once someone can get himself and family out of poverty, he cares about no one, same mindset they take into governance and public offices, it is now so normal that the government now treats the people anyhow and they know that nobody within any capacity will challenge them.

That is why I called it a self serving narrative because in the long run whatever happens to your neighbor who is unsafe might also affect you who think you are safe because you did not make any effort to protect him when you had the capacity to.

This is not about helping everybody, but we must try to ensure our government live up to their responsibilities for everyone, rich or poor...

Both the rich and poor are suffering for insecurity and bad roads in the country so why should someone think it is all about making money and been successful without holding the government accountable....

I find it amusing when people compare India politics and development with that of Nigeria. A country that has never been our match. The Nehru-Gandhi family ruled for over 30 years. If not for interruption of few months, leadership was unbroken and elections won by grand father-daughter-son. How many change of government did we have in 30years? Change of government change of policies

Except we create an home grown democracy we are going no where! I am yet to know of any progressing country outside Europe that adopted a foreign styled democracy

Is it not madness, lecturers were on strike for 8months and everyone acted normal. Not a single day did parents joined affected students to picket any state or the national assembly.

I have fought my own fight for a better Nigeria and done with it. You now have a genuine third force,a platform to mobilise and challenge those in power. Instead to use your new found power,What bothers you is who I will vote for,no comment about the links on how legislators and governors decisions on LG autonomy affects you.

Fyi,I stopped voting 30 years ago!

The truth is I wasn't expecting an answer, I was only trying to create an awareness, I am also doing my own bits for Nigeria...

An elite actress? Yes

My childhood crush? Yes

A deep thinker? No

God bless your Mother!

I love your write-up!
