I purchased a pair of shoes from Jumia on the 8th February but I had to cancelled the order the same day when I realized the situation of the country was getting bad. I got a message from them on the 9th confirming the money in my Jumia voucher then I emailed them to help transfer the funds to my bank account. I received an email asking for bank info which I forwarded to them. They asked me to wait for 5 working days for the money to be paid.
After the 5 working days elapsed and the money is not there I went to my bank and I was asked to contact Jumia. I contacted them immediately on livechat and lodge complaint. I was not satisfied with their response on live chat and that prompted me to send another email they acknowledged it and promised to escalated the issue to my bank and promised today being 28th March all issue would be resolved.
I also asked my bank to follow up with that and gave them transaction info Jumia provided.
I went to my bank today but no money.
I chatted with Jumia representative, they asked me to wait again.
This is frustrating... I need my money back.
Please Nairalanders how can I go about this to get my refund.

Perhaps you should log into your JUMIA PAY ACCOUNT to see if the money has been credited there. When it happened to me last month, they didn't credit the bank account which I used to make the purchase. Rather, they credited my JUMIA PAY account. Then, I logged on to my jumia pay account and used it to transfer the money into my main account.

PS- Your JUMIA PAY account is the blue thing that is displayed on the top left hand corner of your browser when you log in with your email and password.

Something around 2012, I'm a maruwa operator then.
This guy chartered me from ikotun down to idi-araba telling me he want to carry some goods from luth hospital back to ikotun, we bargain and the money look good to me not too high tho. the first red flag I should notice then is that some area boys are saluting this guy in a manner I should be cautious but I ignored the sign and he even asks me to tip them which I obliged.
To cut the story short, we enter luth hospital compounds, and this guy just enters one store and comes back and tells me that he can't find the person he usually buys goods from and his phone is down I should borrow him my phone to contact the person and according to some rumors in the store the goods he wants to buy as skyrocketed so I should borrow him addition 3k,naso I carry my hard earn money give this guy dat very day ooo.
I don't know there is another entrance behind the store.na so the guy carries my phone and money run ooo.

During the early days of driving keke in Asaba, I experience something similar. But I was only scammed of five hundred naira. The werey borrowed five hundred from me with the promise to pay when we get to his destination, when we got there he entered the compound and never came back. On enquiry, I understand that there was a pathway behind. So I just left. After that I request for payment before going to that area .

Take this advise it will do you some good .
Your mode of operation henceforth should be in this manner :
When you stop to carry a passenger till you collect your money this is how you should act.
Immediately you stop for the passenger don't underestimate anybody whether it be a pregnant woman, elderly person or child.
You : wia you dey go"with a soldier man smile" a smile that shows in your "voice"not your face that you are not angry.
Passenger : I dey go so so so place.
You: you hold change
Depending on your knowledge of the area the passenger is going to don't carry the person if you don't have change to give the person .

Avoid discussions with any passenger at any point of the journey; whether at the start,mid way or end,"AVOID IT"because of that is what criminals start with.
When your passenger starts talking to you don't answer them or tell them you need to concentrate because na you dey service your bike with your money that is if they begin to say ; you no dey talk .

If there is a change of route tell the person you have someone on emergency waiting for you unless you are very familiar with the area the passenger wants to change route to If the person takes you to somewhere and tells you to stop that they want to go and take something and that you should wait for them ensure to collect your money before the person drops.

Never accept any gift from passengers because they could poison or drug you to collect your bike .
Never carry two males to a dry or non motorable road at any time .
No matter who you drop at their destination always position your self to escape if need be "DON'T PUT OFF YOUR BIKE".

Be careful of young girls with plenty story, they might give you huge money and tell you they have plenty places to go to, immediately you take them to two or three places and they tell you they are going to a dry or non motorable road end their trip .

I once worked in a government transport company before I gained admission and graduated.
The experience was eye opening ,some elderly persons deliberately don't want to pay . You just have to avoid discussions with any passenger even if you witness them quarrelling before picking them.

If the passenger wants you to give any body any change before you embark the journey make sure you collect their money first before giving the person any money they want you to give any money to,if they refuse just zoom off.

If you carry any passenger and you are no longer comfortable with the calls they are making just try to outsmart them by saying you brought your brother and his friend that is a soldier to the area they want to stop not too long ago and you will stop by after dropping them or just bring out your phone and make a fake call even if you don't dial any number(you can just dial your customer care) .
Don't fall for Passengers who act to be sick (Your safety first) .
You might still meet werey that don't want to pay just threaten them a little from a safe distance and zoom off . Don't come down to fight or quarrel no matter the location"the most peaceful location can be changed into a war zone".

Finally you need to pray always before you start and close work and also before and after each journey .

So, I got a contract to do Barbeque Chicken for our Church Youth Dinner. I got a guy on my street who does Barbeque for sale to do it for me. We agreed on price and I paid him over 70% of the money. I gave him the 100 pieces of chicken.

The dinner was on Sunday Evening by 6pm. To finish by 8pm so people can go home early enough.

The Barbeque man said I should come by 6pm to carry the chicken. I got there at 6, Baba has not finished atall. Some were still on the fire. He had like 21 not done atall.

I almost fainted.

I carried the remaining 79 like that to church. And that was the main meal. No rice. We started serving, it did not go round. People were complaining cos they paid money for the dinner.

I came back at the man's place at 7pm, he had not still finished.

Bottom like, baba did not still finish barbequing the chicken, people went home angry especially those that had nothing to eat. He was not even bothered and by 10pm he told me to carry the remaining chicken home and go and fry myself since people had left.

I counted the remaining chicken and it was 12 fresh ones remaining to barbecue at the time. Told him to pack it in nylon let me go and bring a bowl to put it. Came back later and collected it. Got home and discovered only 6 pieces of chicken were in the Nylon.

After all he had done, He still had the mind to remove 6 pieces of chicken after ruining our event and embarrassing me infront of everyone.

What I've realised is that some people are just cursed from the pit of hell. They can never change who they are.

Wherever he is, Calamity will follow forever. That's my prayer.

Well, just be happy they did not still your bike, because those has shown that you're better than him financially,

Just be more careful next time, forget the money and move on, surely you still have more work to do to earn money.

Sorry.... hopefully you'll first learn to maintain business for business henceforth...as for the lowlife who scammed you of 2500 out of the 3500 you have made for the day.... If you keep playing that route...you will still see him again....but when you do...ensure to first him from the back with your bike...before descending on him with punches. He will likely not have the cash
...sha collect his phone...shoes...and maybe even trousers....then go your way.....

Next time share it, don't give it to one person. You could have spitted it 50 to him 50 to another person or even 25, 25 to 4 people. It might even be cheaper.
