Minimum wage is not the same as average wage! angry

Sir/Ma,
I know what minimum and average means. Whatever semantic is used, neither sounds good as far as Nigeria is concerned.

Average salary means it can be higher or lower.

Average salary in Canada is less than $3,000 and you have to pay rent of over $1 000 plus other bills and feeding.

What will now remain

Japa geng over to you.
NET salary bro.

Ofcourse we get by through corrupt practices. Our girls add Olosho as side hussling, an average civil servants demands for bribe to do a simple task, tenants bypasses pre-paid meters to use electricity the list goes on. Corruption and impunity everywhere.

The poorer we are, the less voice the people will have. And that's why there's an astronomical gap between the masses and the political class.

"Keep them poor so that we can continue to be rich and remain in power".

You surely would agree that you are not the generality. However, If you do manage to live on 30k per month...I would be happy to know how you're getting by.

30k God forbid! I earn 6 digits my job. And I earn dollars from my side hustle. tongue

By the way, 30k is the basic salary(other allowances come in) of the lower civil servants...the security men, messengers, drivers etc etc

This is not a very useful report though. When you express the earnings of different countries in one currency, you get an almost useless result.

Nigerian own brand of corruption is inhumane.

Some persons would argue as they often do that there is corruption in all countries of the world to justify this kind of crude brazen corruption going on in Nigeria.

But Some climes even with corruption take care of their disabled, elderly, even unemployed (that are alleged to be lazy ass), children. These groups are paid wages even with the so-called corruption. Taxes payed by taxpayers are utilised for the right purposes, not diverted into personal pockets

I suppose that explains which spectrum you belong. I do hope you understand the plight of an average Nigerians then. You obviously ain't speaking for them so far. 30k per month is absolutely rubbish. Even at that some states are still owing their workers the 30k that's probably an hourly rate for you. Pause and think how gross it is for the common man.

These common men(driver, security, messenger - level 5 personnel) who earn the 30k basic wage are living in their own houses and sponsoring their children through school.

Stop taking Panadol for another's headache!

Nigeria cheesy

The interesting thing about Nigeria's average net salary is that many people earning such can end up accomplishing more in Nigeria than those earning thousands of dollars in other countries. cool

I think this is common to 3rd world countries.

Salaries are low but people living above income.
I guess corruption is normalized here.
My of my friends in church earning 400k drive brand new cars, I mean brand new jeeps and I earn far far far above them so I wonder where they get this money from.
Even their doings - buying properties, donations in church, you start wondering if you people are in the same country.
EFCC needs to start investigating income earned to life style proportion and over 50% of Nigerian working class would be hauled off to jail.

A lot of that money....not all, but a lot of it...comes from relatives abroad. It's not too hard to figure out.

It is not relatives abroad.
No one will be sending you money monthly for your upkeep. No one.

I am close to these people and I know it is not relatives.
Do you actually think it is interesting sending money to people on monthly basis?
Many people are making money in Nigeria, you better don't be deceived with the harshness of the economy.
How they do it, I don't know.

Here we are talking about govt officials diverting funds, tax payers, even funds meant for payment of civil servants salaries! Into their pockets! In a crude manner!

$5K is high or low depending on the property tax RATE. If you're paying that amount for a house worth $2 million, it's cheap. For a house worth $200K, it's expensive. So what's the RATE.

Income taxes in the USA are very low compared to other industrialized OECD nations, maybe even the lowest. Also depends on where you live - zero state taxes in Tennesse & Florida for sure. For the record I love paying taxes because of the services I get in return, including PROTECTION OF PROPERTY RIGHTS.

Nigerian income is tragic, no other way to describe it. Only 0.4% of Nigerians earn over ₦‎200K per month and that's when they can even get a job.

Nah Partner appraised value is $559000 after claiming a homestead exception of $2000 that reduces the tax value to $5287. Florida used to be paradise but with hurricanes, homeowner insurance is getting out of hand. Thinking of moving to the Carolinas
