I'm currently in the market shopping for an entry-level BA role, and mehn, it's been a tough ride.

As a BCS-certified foundational BA, the interest is to apply the knowledge and leverage my transferable skills to improve my BA proficiencies/practice but the entry roles are not there. Daily, you'll see adverts for medium and senior level BAs but it seems no one is interested in grooming the next generation of BAs.

Could you please share some insight into getting entry-level BA roles or how to access learning environments that's not influenced by profiteering as with most of the course sellers...Thanks

I believe Business Analysts require soft skills which are transferable. With self-motivation and drive to learn and development opportunities, people should be able to transit into BA accountabilities.

@lightnlife Like someone earlier suggested, you can apply for roles in civil service, its usually easier to get into compared to private organisations. Its normally one interview(could be more depending on the organisation) and they would give you guidelines around questions you would be asked. The pay might not be fantastic but you will get the much needed experience and work delivery might not be fast paced and gives you ability to learn on the job. Ministry of Justice, dvlsa usually have a lot of these roles available, you might want to tweak the job title also, e.g product owner, project support et.c.NHS also has alot of BA roles. With regards to access to learning environment, register on clicked (its a site aimed at bridging the experience gap between job training and readiness) signup on an experience and pick a sprint and you will be assigned a business case that you will have to use you BA skill set to solve. You will elicit requirements, draw process maps, write user stories , support testing all through this process. The good thing is that you will be grouped with other team members from all over the world hence you wont provide this solution in isolation but work collaboratively with other.

I finally got an employment offer after, less than 2 weeks here in the uk.

I am happy because I have been given an opportunity to start working in a line that I prefer to the others and close to my past work experience.

The applications, rejections and interviews, made it seem like I’ve been job hunting for almost 3 months here in the uk.

I came in, I cleaned up my Cv with resume-now dot come ,and applied to Jobs that match my history experience and desired pathway. I applied to over 30 per day. Indeed, company sites, Cv library, etc. anywhere wey work posting Dey. I also called companies and recruitment agencies.

I also walked round the city for Posters and job posts

I also had a cv (I put in informal experiences) to apply for care support roles, because I can do anything legal to pay my bills.

I was lucky to immediately get one that matches what I desired, which is the desired pathway.

That's the problem with zero hours contract...... They would just keep dragging their feet........

He needs to send a letter to the CEO of that trust...... Chronologically highlighting all the events so far......

Requesting an intervention from the CEO........ Not forgetting all the sufferings and hardship been encountered, due to all this unfolding events....... He can also sue the trust for loss of income.........

Your friend need not visit Nigeria because of a divorce case, particularly when you say it is uncontested, his lawyer could file applications in court allowing him to present his fact to the Nigerian through an oath endosed by a notary public or commissioner of oath here, moreso, his divorce could be initiated here if all parties are present, but ghe cost might be heavy.

Interesting I’ll mention this to him. And they’re not in the UK. Never been here. Happened in the EU.

It says you applied as single but only put him as “dependent” usually, that’s a space for someone who is financially dependent on you not a partner per say, as long as you didn’t list him directly as a spouse/civil partner, it has no effect.

However, how does he intend to scale the path in Nigeria where he could now potentially be in possession of 1 and another pending marriage certificate, seems like you would have to get the divorce sorted asap or he comes as an unmarried/civil partner with his new beau.

It's their country, their rules. But like Brexit, they will come up again and look for who to blame for the insufficient workforce admits a declining working population.

This is something I keep pondering on. Many times, many second generational folks I've seen especially in less diverse cities have some identity crises. They're neither here nor there, worse still, they don't have enough numbers or a distinct culture.

Even on this thread, folks using denigrating words for new Nigerian legal immigrants are almost always second generation. Yet they strive to have some 9ja connection cos they want to be seen 'connecting with their roots'

Seems their thinking was their parents belonged to some 'prime stock' of Nigerians that the the white man gave the 'privilege' of immigration. Hence they want to set their own bar for immigrants. Fact is, their parents were just everyday Nigerians e.t.c with some opportunity.
