The Powmr beats the Homaya but I understand you're just marketing.

End user actually, not in the business.

The Powmr MPPT 60 beats the Homaya M1000, I think I made that clear.

I just wanted to make it clear that it is dangerous to attempt to run it at its limit when the manufacturer itself says so.

I also made the point that if running it at 160V PV will kill it, it is unfair that they have not told us the safe maximum PV.

That any potential user needs to have that information before deciding and along the way it breaks

FEGEITOK:

Agreed.

The Powmr is good for someone who is just starting his journey in solar and wants to keep entry costs low while learning the ropes

But my reason for comparing was, how does this compare with what I already have?

Should I take the plunge?

Does the cost benefit ratio make sense?

Finally having benefitted immensely from the wealth of knowledge on this thread, I was obligated to pay it forward

I will do a similar thing between the 1.5KVA Homaya Home that I already have and the new 3 kW/4 kW/6kW Homaya Pro that was introduced sometime in July 2022

Ok, that point makes sense. This thread is so rich in knowledge. Keep sharing. cool

I would have included the 2.5mm wire but I don't know the distance it would run.

Do you have an experience with sunfit?

Sunfit works great budget PV, I used it for years but I can't say same for their batteries though

Something similar has been said about Felicity, don't run it at PV max, it will throw an error

It was thanks to this thread

This is how I try
1. Reduce Energy Usage
2. Performance Monitoring
3. Use gen as backup to charge batteries as last resort

Please can someone recommend a good 2.5kva inverter for me --budget. 250k
Also a good tabular battery budget 170k.
Lastly please is it possible to use a 2.5kva 24v with 1 220ah battery?. Thanks

Please any one with 2.5kva yohako review.. thanks
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Hybrid600: 11:31am On Jun 11, 2023
You can't use 1 unit of 220ah battery on a 2.5kva 24v system. It must be at least 2units of batteries.

In addition to the above, over privisioning helps (in plain english more solar panels than your actual consumption, a larger array will generate more than a smaller array in difficult weather) and efficient equipment (MPPT instead of PWM)

Generator as backup for #550/litre is irritating.
If there is small cash and his battery is lead acid, then let him add pv and manage his loads.
If his battery is lifepo4, then let him manage his loads with partial charging of the battery.
Economic aspect of renewable energy is the key for middle/third class citizens.
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by aviona: 1:23pm On Jun 11, 2023
You've just hit the nail on the head @ Fegeitok. With a reasonable PV oversizing you are covered, so long as you remain under your charger's max Voc.
Also, a larger battery bank helps make up for bad weather. Some people even maintain two separate arrays and banks, and just switch between them at different times of the day.
Decently oversized PV arrays alongside a good MPPT charger, require minimal daylight (not even 🌞 sunlight), to go from bulk to floating, even with some loads on a rainy day.
In summary, your PV and battery capacities can keep you "dry" even on a rainy day.

Honestly, I haven't used a generator for years.

The over provisioning or oversizing begins with solar panels ( in technical speak PVs which is short for photo voltaic cells)

This video should help

Comfortable config ... 3s5p
Adrenaline config ... 4s4p (you can try this, with some losses due to positioning and wire, you MAY scale through during peak output and favorable conditions )

Thanks bro. I also thought of 4s4p and I think I'll go with that.

Instead use the 3.5kva with maybe 160ah 24v or 48v lifepo4

How good are luminous inverters?

Anyone?
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Jefferyzz(m): 5:23am On Jun 12, 2023
It couldn't b yes if
1. If ur battery is lifepo4 of 3kwh up
2. If ur panel is 4kw up n u can pump wen the sun is up, even wen d sun goes down ur panel should still generate up to 1.6-2kw while the remaining 700/300w will taken from ur lead acid batteries.
And most importantly, ur 3.5kva inverter must b those variant with toroidal transformer, they handle surge better, if ure using a high frequency inverter, don't pump

Irrespective of the amount of battery you have, a 1.5hp submersible pump will shut down your 3.5Kva inverter. I dare anyone to try this and report back to the house. I have tried with a 3KW HF inverter before and it promptly shuts down. The pump initial power surge can get to almost 5kW. A good transformer (LF) based inverter may try, but I will like to see a report.

Typically a good 3.5kva inverter should be able to accommodate 2x surge, if that is not the case then that inverter isn't good enough. I am also not sure a 1.5hp pump surge should get up to 5kw....I have a feeling yours probably tripped because of battery lvd
