Mmesoma: I support sanctions imposed by JAMB – Oby Ezekwesili

A former minister of education, Obiageli Ezekwesili has reacted to the findings of the committee set up by the Anambra State governor, Charles Soludo to investigate the saga between the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, and Ejikeme Mmesoma over her UTME result.

Ezekwesili said she supports the sanctions imposed by JAMB on her, saying it would serve as a deterrent to all who participate in the systemic exam malpractices within the nation’s educational system.

The committee discovered that Mmesoma forged the 362 score she was parading against the authentic score, 249.

Ezekwesili said she is satisfied with the process and the findings of committee which gave Mmesoma fair hearing.

In a statement via her verified Twitter handle on Saturday, the former Minister recommended a sustained counseling for Mmesoma by her family, school and church.

She wrote, “I have just read the report of the Committee set up by Anambra State Government to investigate and report their independent findings on the Mmesoma and JAMB Saga.

“I am satisfied with the process and findings of their investigation which gave Mmesoma fair hearing to enable the Committee gather all facts.

“It was necessary to have independent evidence that the result Mmesoma laid claim to publicly was not only fake but that the forgery was personally orchestrated by her.

“There are usually syndicates at the center of perpetration of exam malpractices in Nigeria but it appears not to be so in Mmesoma’s case from the facts of the Committee’s report.

“Mmesoma’s action has consequences. I therefore support the sanctions imposed by JAMB as a deterrent to all who participate in the systemic exam malpractices within our educational system.

“I also recommend sustained counseling for Mmesoma by the family, school and church to support her as she reflects on this tragic episode and makes a decision to embrace values and rewards of effort while eschewing dishonest gain for the rest of her life.

“I do hope that the lessons of this case will help all our pupils, students, parents, guardians and the public at large renew a collective commitment to uphold Exam Integrity in Nigeria as a cornerstone of Nigeria’s Values and Reward System for our children and youth.

“I wish to thank JAMB for their good work and encourage the Registrar and his team to continue with their critical service to our country and people as we all join them to sustain raising of awareness on Exam Integrity.”

shocked

Chai!

I'll never underrate any human being again.
The way this little up-to-no-good of a girl deceived me and my wife was out of this world.
I almost had very serious issue with my wife when I suggested that this girl could really forged her result, My wife almost requested for my head because I said such. Now, my wife has been dumbfounded ever since the findings by the Anambra State panel of enquiry came out.

Never trust, defend or underrate any human being, whether old, sick, young, poor, rich, girl child, boy child, intelligent, unintelligent, educated or not.

Mmesomma has been trashed out.

Anambra state indigenous inquiry has implicated her of forgery and Kamsiyochukwu the real winner has been awarded.

Next Ezekwesili is for you to speak against wanton killing and destruction by ipob menace in SE.

Do it and save ur region from self-implosion.

That girl is a criminal, the sanction by jamb should be stepped up to 7 years...such a girl is too desperate and she can go any length to even do more sinister things in the nearest future

👍. I laugh when I hear people say "she's too young to manipulate results" at 19, she's old enough to go to jail for her crimes. The girl should do at least 6 months in prison in addition to the 3 year ban

Why are you abakaleke miscreant worried about Mmesoma when the highest scorer is equally from Anambra. Where’s your backward useless ebonyi state in external exams like JAMB?

Is it because ebonyi is full of illiterates and miscreants that’s why your state doesn’t have someone like Ezekwesili? Why is it that no one from your backward useless worthless ebonyi state speaking up, simply because 90% of ipob people are from ebonyi

My opinion? This young lady (old enough to be a criminal) is definitely guilty as proven, BUT she's just being used as a 'fall guy (gal)'. A very active syndicate is almost certainly involved. The outcome appears to be a desperate, well-coordinated cover-up by well-connected member(s) of the syndicate. Posterity shall be the judge, soon, very soon undecided

That's the way to go.

People were trying to force her to condemn the girl when independent investigations were yet to be concluded. Now that it has been concluded and it was discovered that Nmesoma was guilty she has lent her voice. Everybody should rest.

Normally.

No one will be hung without due diligence. Now that she has been seen to be guilty after a fair hearing, and given that she is an adult, bring on the gallows!

Psychopaths are brilliant liars.

@ macof, your attention is needed here:
https://www.nairaland.com/7680472/wicked-continue-fall

Here's the kind of tendencies that gives birth to crooks in later life that you can never ever get intelligent criminals to agree to truth or make to confess to their crimes.

What if this is a non-digital issue of which evidence cannot be verified or validated computer wise? It would be impossible to unravel the mystery at the end. Tampering with fact and figure to shine.

That's why you have to seriously break them from childhood and give our children the need to allow others lead them sometimes. There's no point trying to be the highest, just be the best you can be and time will tell.

You are not the best because you come out the highest, some other people are very much better than you in other things also, so be the best you can possibly be without cheating or harming the system.

A good example of a cheat. Yes she's intelligent, but she also wants to be the mouthpiece for JAMB and score herself the highest. May her heart be renewed in the course of time.

Kperogi in response to Ezekwesili retorted

"An “Independent Technology Investigation” (whatever in the world that means) to find out how Ejikeme downloaded the “JambFun-Fake Jamb Result Maker” app on her phone to generate a fake UTME result? Ha!..It’s true what they say: prejudice distorts what it sees, deceives when it talks, and destroys when it acts."

The bolded is nothing but the truth. Keep sentiments aside to see fact for what it is.

Now that it has been proven that she forged her results, I stand with Ezekwesili on this, she need to be punished for her action, But considering her age, Jamb should tamper Justice with mercy, They should allow her to retake the exam next year, this way after restitution, she can prove herself. Lesson has been learnt, myself Included, I believe the girl when the news broke.

I wonder in all sincerity if this woman would have been "satisfied" after the independent investigation had it been carried out by A non-igbo speaking tribal members.

And I begin to wonder how and why we appoint tribalistic people to very & every sensitive office in this great nation.

I was among the people that defended her, and now that it’s certain she forged it, she must not just be left off the hook just like that, she deserves some punishment, but 3 years ban is too much, rather her admission this year shouldn’t be canceled and made to write another next year, I would never believe she would do that, when I heard her speak, but Omo , it is what it is

You were stupid for supporting her.

You are incurably stupid for saying the same punishment is too heavy.
