Are you saying I can drive in the UK with a valid Nigerian licence, even without the international driver's license? Also, does it matter if I've been in the UK for over a year?
Solumtoya:

The normal Nigerian License is actually sufficient

Why has ur race not done it?

We are in this together. If we as a people work in unison there is so much we will achieve. We have the raw material to be world leaders as we were years ago.

Why you dey fast and pray for their visa that year?

You are not getting my point. What does fasting and praying has to do with me saying they are not special ?

Abeg you need to hail them cus its not easy
I hope you know that some of the everyday things you use was invented by a black person. Including the coloured computers you use today. Stop downplaying your race. A little google search will go a long way.

First, What does your contract say about working additional jobs?

It probably says you shouldn’t, or that it must be with the permission of your main employer.

Second, I’d say this is something you should avoid as even if they give that permission it could raise formal or informal concerns about your commitment and ability (physically and otherwise) to pay full attention to the job e.g. if you’re working nights or on weekends, how refreshed will you be during the day when you’re supposed to be 100% focused on their work? Particularly if you work from home.

And don't you think the fact that they have already achieved this while we are still at the stage of "if" decades, centuries down the line suggests something special about them? I think we should give honour where it's due.

You're right. I work from home and this will raise concerns. I would discuss with the care home to accept previous employers (tho in Nigeria) but if they insist I will discontinue. I hope they won't use my ID photocopies for anything o

The above is possible in theory, but difficult to believe when the below can happen brazenly in 2023 (and likely with no consequences)

Thank God i never give them reference details i intend to ignore the request. The discussion was during the final interview and a walk tour on the facilities. I already calledthem but the person who picked said i should hold on till i get a formal request. I hope they wont go ahead and contact my current employer during the DBS check because they have the name of my company?

Seeking accommodation for couple without kids around Brighton and it's environs. Budget is £600/£700 bill inclusive and move in date is early september.

Also, my dependent has a degree in Microbiology (Bsc) what job opportunities are open for him here in UK? Are there training and certifications he should take? We need insights

Thank you

What if someone in Nigeria got an offer for January 2024 then he/she is able to get visa first week december 2023. Can such a student come into the UK with her dependent last week of december2023 as against January2024?

Seriously looking out for my younger sister lol

In my own opinion I think UK should cut down the number of dependent(s) one can bring into the UK instead of putting an end to it totally lol...I'm not entitled though but we don too suffer for their hand they should help our lives hahahahahahahahahaha abeg joor

I believe the post-grad course has to start before Jan 2024.

It's a tricky one because they would then be accused of separating families. Do the parents leave their kids behind or have to choose which of their children to bring with them?

Tell them expressly that you do not want them to contact anyone in respect of your application and that they should delete any information they hold on you.

You can cite the GDPR but I don’t think it’ll be necessary.

There's no harm in trying. Such a person has to apply very very early but still have at the back of her mind that the dependant might be denied. I think there's an 85% chance the dependant would get the Visa but that's just a guess.

My People, I am currently facing an issue with the company sponsoring my visa for the UK. Unfortunately, they don't have any available shifts for me at the moment. Despite my efforts in attending numerous interviews, as soon as I mention that I am on a Tier 2 visa, they inform me that they cannot sponsor me. This situation has led me to wonder if it is still possible to find a company that offers sponsorship without requiring any financial contribution. I have been diligently sending out 100-120 job applications every day.

I am specifically seeking advice regarding NHS healthcare assistant jobs. Does anyone know if they offer sponsorship? I have come across several individuals who are requesting £10,000 for sponsorship na wa ooo for some Nigerians, which has become quite frustrating.

somebody please advice.

In a way, this is actually the policy (even though you are referring to the number of people per household) PhD candidates are still allowed to bring in dependants post January 2024.

My assumption is that if they are able to apply and get their visas before January 2024, they can still come in even if it’s a January course. Na my assumption o, not facts so no quote me o.

They shouldn’t, and I don’t think they will.

But just to be sure when you’re turning it down be explicit in saying they should not contact your employers.

That will do it.

Just make sure you apply for band 3, full-time, permanent

Don’t expect sponsorship for band 2
