So most of these town are named after the resources mostly found in the area

Igbo-Elerin means forest of Elephants
Igbo-Ora is gotten from Igbo-inu ira meaning swamoy forest.

kiss Learnt about the high prevalence of twinning here when a friend was @ Baptist facility in the Igbora town some years ago. What a fortunate fest for them. Great bless Mary Scellesor for her persistence towards the eradication of killing twins in Nigeria.

Yea but that was in Calabar though. Yorubas have always seen twins as blessings. We never killed twins in our own culture.

dude yoruba never kills twins or use for any sacrifice
Yoruba actually respect twins they are even one of their Orisa . so why would they be killing their Orisa ?

I think it's cos of the word Igbo which means bush in Yoruba Language. Most of their towns were developed from bush to cities.

*Developing towns*... Igbo means bush... Any town name with "Igbo", tells a rich culture that the place was once a forest

lolz...am from Akure, in Ondo state. but my Grandfather has very big farm in Ogbese, so am also related to Ogbese.

ogbese is under Akure North Local Gov.
