What a secondment! Ur submission is brutish and glaringly true....lol.
But wait oo, Uber drivers should be saving and planning to lunch business na ...no b to go work for person again.

Just as u second the advice of "Advision", I have bin highly thinking of how to manipulate my time at work and couple with the riding. The nature of my work is morning till 6pm.
*I have to increase my income * m getting a vehicle on a loan * I will have to service the loan(at most monthly basis). * I have to service my family.
Bringing this puzzle together have bin mentally sapping.

Thanks, once again.

Getting a vehicle on loan in today's economy, that idea is not so good because you will have to work your ass off to repay the loan. Petrol price is very high and Bolt fare doesn't commensurate with it except when there is surge. Fare is low, you will spend a lot of fuel and do so many trips before you can make a reasonable profit per day.

If there are no option of getting a Car other than loan, I will advice you go for a car loan between 2 to 3 miilion naira. It would be easier for you to repay on time. Maximum of 2years is enough to repay and the car wont suffer depreciation.

Brand new and Tokunbo Cars are very expensive, grade A sound Nigerian used cars on loan would make sense.

As per how you can juggle work, family and ehailing (driving) together, talking from my own experience.

I will suggest you drive on weekends, Friday night, Saturday and Sunday are the days to make good money. These 3 days can fetch you 60k to 100k after expenses depending on how long you can work. In a month that should be around 240k to 400k.

This is the best time to drive Uber for someone who is busy weekdays with job or other business

Friday from 7pm -12am N15,000 to N20,000 profit

Saturday From 5am - 10pm N20,000 to N40,000 profit

Sunday 5am - 10pm N25,000 to N45,000 profit

Total of these 3 days are usually between 60k to 100k in a week, you can give it a shot

Good luck !

I bin no won put mouth oh because I don't like giving advice on a subject I know little or no information about.

But from this your post I want to believe you're married and with a kid or kids... If so, my brother pursue that loan, use am pursue more degrees, work more on your career, apply for more jobs, it easier for a working class to get another and better job. You've the edge already.

You do a 8am to 6pm job and you're thinking of adding a driving job to it? Plus family?? Are you whining me??

How much loan do you think you can get from your company that will be enough to buy a trouble free car? 3m, 4m? Did you read where Dapo bought a 2006 Toyota Corolla for 5.1m? Just last week or thereabout. If you have 5m now na car you go use am buy in this period of N575/ltr?? Oga better think smart

Better still empower your wife, open a business for her and you guys can run it together when ever you're free.

Good day guys.
I need a honest analyses (positive/negative) and advice pls.

I'm a salary earner in Lagos with a monthly income less than eighty thousand naira.

I had planned to save and get a ride to start ehailing, however, with the current state of affairs in our beloved country, it's difficult, if not impossible.

I am currently working on getting a loan with what I have bin able to save so far(a million) to get a ride and kickstart the hustle. N/B: the loan is interest free and confirmed.

I have a major shortcoming: I don't know Lagos routes or landmark at all n I don't understand Yoruba.

Please I dey beg una. Make una sound advice and guidance for my head Wella abeg. Cos if I don't push d savings out for loan naw... savings go turn to expense oo.

Pls guys, respond pls.

Less than 80k salary, then I wonder how u must have saved a million, or how long it took u to do that. Maybe u have another source of income!
I will not tell u to continue in ur job, and I will not also say u should quit and do ehailing. Your decision will be tied to what u want in life.
Buy your car and do both then you will know if u should quit or not with time.
I made more than your monthly income between Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (3days) only

Fridays through Sundays he should work 60hrs or more grin grin grin

Oga na robot you dey advise abi?

You that is giving this advice, what's your work or daily routine? Have you given this a try for just 1 month b4?

Do you have a family?
Are you married?
Do you have kids?
Do you have an idea what it takes to run a family? If you dint know ask Conner his father was a banker who never had time for them.

You people will just carry your phone and type anything that comes into your head all in the name of advice.

I don't get it

Pearl stop am!

Can you compare the time you pee on your boss's head for Uber with now?

How much was a Corolla sold then? Dapo ur frnd just bought same Corolla you bought 1.350m/1.5m then @5.1m last week. Even if you've to sell that your Corolla to this guy now would you let it go for 1.5m? No!

How much was fuel them compare to now?

He earns less than 80k and have been able to save up to a million grand, for how long? Only God knows...

Pearl, let's be honest with ourselves, how much savings can a family man in this present times save driving Uber full time? Even our much respect boy is still renting, if na so e easy to save or if truly there is a great progress in the business he would have both his own car long ago.

You of all people know what 1m is in this present economy. How long do you think it will take you to raise such amount driving Uber with family oooh.

Look, Uber driving is not for family men with wife and kid(s), you'll work like an elephant and eat like an ant. You know these things so when talking to a family man talk with caution and carefulness because their bills no be here.

Do you think vikings, BAZ001, Chucmoor and the rest that migrated driving Uber would have been able to had they been married? Unless they have family relatives who would support financially.

If you'd not pee on your boss's head then do you have an idea where you would have been by now? But anyways, life is a choice I won't criticize anyone on the choices they make because I do not know the numbers of options at their disposal at the point.

Number 1: He didn't tell u he is a family man.
Number 2: fact still remains his salary is less than 80k in 2023.
He should think of his life fast because of the same points u made. I quite my job when I even earned more than him in 2017. A graduate earning less than 80k working 8am to 6pm Monday to friday. In a time that things are these expensive? And u are still speaking grammar
Like I said it's his decision to make but one thing is clear he can't survive with 80k salary with a family conveniently.

one thing I will never understand in this uber work is why you have to almost beg most riders to come out for the trip they ordered for. All the times I've booked a ride, I'm always monitoring the trip to my PU so I can be outside waiting for my ride.

Wealth to me is fulfilment, being to afford whatsoever one desire at any given time in good health and sound mind.

You can have money and have bad health, that not wealth.
You can have money and one of your kids is giving you restless mind, that's not wealth... Wealth is peace of mind.

It's not all about money per say.

That somebody is living in the USA with investment back at home doesn't make him wealthy, you that is living in Nigeria and can afford the basic things if life stresslessly and have good health, my brother you're the wealthiest man on earth

I am taking about wealth generation...not financial muscle... Our line of discussion I think is quiet different...

Dangote or Otedola can go on 2 month vacation and yet still generating income....

Someone with car investment on Uber....can travel and yet money is still entering for him/her.

I am not saying your opinion is not valid....but my perspective to what I said...is just centred about making your money work for you...even when you are not there....(Wealth generation)

Then you're not a good business man.

I don't mix business with familiarity.

Bro no matter how close we are, you hire me for a full day job you already know my policy. 25% should be paid 12/24hrs ahead... Balance immediately after drop off if not I pack my car in front of your gate and leave with my keys. By the time you neighbors won enter compound you go credit me aza.

I don't take shit!

Why would I carry you without getting my money?

I've a lot of CEOs till date who still call me for offlines, some of them if I'm not available they don't call Uber, they rather wait or postpone their movement.
Never a time have anyone own me a dime.

I stylishly dumb one some 4-6months now, I usually carry their daughter to Convennanant University... Rich men with their policy... Each time I'll have to drive empty from AE to Marina to pick either his wife/hubby and daughter to drop off or pick up daughter at Ota, Canaan land. After the fuel increase they still didn't want to increase the regular fee (30k), I understand it's not easy but she na me e easy for ni?
I stopped using ac... I always come up with one or 2 excuses to why the ac is not working.
We have known for over 4yrs... From carrying their son to Caleb in Ikorodu to NYSC- Ibadan... Customer turned family.

But I'd to pull the plug after the current fuel hike... How I win take charge my papa?
Felicity we are going to drop off Eniola next week ooh... How much is our bill this time that fuel is up now?
Ah!!! Daddy grin my car is very very bad ooh
Okay call me when the car is okay, or do you want some loan to fix it?
No Sir, it's already at the mechanics.

Almost 6 months car still dey mechanics grin

My 2cent

Pursue more degrees?!? Hmmn. I have countless certificates and I still dey do some currently. How many people certs don help for this our beloved country...las las u nid connection to get to the dreamed stairs.

Investment on learning/education is never bad at all...in the least, there is enlightenment but, with the current affairs of our country, I wouldn't advice any body to invest his last coin on education/acquiring more degrees except he/she have strong backing ofcourse.

After over sixteen years of continuous learning, I, (we) was told in the camp to learn tailoring or barbing or soap making or carpentry etc ....just imagine the country wey we dey ....wat a harsh reality.
I very much appreciate ur analysis. U quit well based it on prevailing occurrence of our dear country.

Thanks, once again.
