In as much as i agree with the OP that Nigerians are also problematic, but our government is still useless.

Imagine inflating a contract from N14b to N58b because of greed.

There is no such things as law, justice, and fairness in Nigeria.....aka the 'Zoo'

As far as rationality is concern though. Nnamdi Kanu still being caged like a monkey in a zoo is very justified. Infact he should have been executed long ago being an out law, a criminal, a terrorist and more. grin

Three days ago, a tiler in my neighbourhood was using someone's bike to convey tiles to a site.
He unfortunately met more than he bargained for on his way...

A construction company's truck hit him seriously on the road, this led to the total destruction of the bike and all he was carrying coupled with a lot of blemishes on the truck But he was lucky enough to have minor injuries and deep cut on his leg.

Though, no one was there to tell who was at fault but these were the after findings:

1. The Truck driver was coming from a sharp bend corner where he went to sell Diesel illegally from the truck.
2. The driver up till now ran and abandoned the truck, knowing the consequences of his illegal actions.
3. The Company is currently taking care of the tiler and the cost of fixing the spoilt truck (which is needed for urgent work).
4. They promised to get the owner, A BRAND NEW BIKE.

-------MY POINTS---------
As we keep complaining and blaming the govt. everyday, we fail to analyse and caution ourselves, Look at how this accident has affected the life of a hustler and the cost it will take the Company to solve this issue. This would cost more than 2million.
What if the guy had died?
ALL IN THE QUEST TO SELL DIESEL FROM A TRUCK U OUGHT TO BE ON DUTY WITH.

1. You pointed out a major issue especially common to blacks. We often times do the wrong and expect someone else to come and right our wrongs.

2. You articulately worded your points and this is commendable.

I love to see more of this on Nairaland maybe we could someday change the mindsets of the few readers who may have been doctored with a wrong school of thoughts

I hope we learn from the quotes below.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.

President of the United States of America, JF Kennedy.

"For in a democracy, every citizen, regardless of his interest in politics, 'hold office'; every one of us is in a position of responsibility; and, in the final analysis, the kind of government we get depends upon how we fulfill those responsibilities. We, the people, are the boss, and we will get the kind of political leadership, be it good or bad, that we demand and deserve".

Sometimes before we play the blame games, let take a little while to evaluate ourselves.

Have I over inflated the budget of a task that has been entrusted into me before?

Like one of the comments I read here, these people are not aliens. They are also people who may even have blamed some of the past leaders too.

Africans keep blaming people who take advantage of failed systems instead of people who makes it possible for people to take advantage of systems

Humans are not good even you... The only reason you don't commit crime is not because you don't want to its simple because the risk of getting caught is considered too high for you

The blame games with Nigerians.

The ones who resume 10am and close 2pm in a Govt established institution would come on social media to tell you how a state Gov in his state , has not been functioning effectively.

After all the tales by moonlight, you go ahead to blame the people.
You think people in sane climates are naturally law-abiding citizens? cheesy

Why you have the security operatives, law-enforcement agents and the extremely dependent judiciary in the pockets of the extremely-corrupt government or lack thereof, what do you expect?

A corrupt police force.
A corrupt EFCC.
A corrupt Judiciary for the poor only.

You expect ordinary citizens to be law-abiding and do the right thing?
Your average Nigerian is only following the irresponsible behaviors your useless government has set without accountablility.

After all every case is solved by bribe and take-a-bow. cheesy

Sorry, it does not work that way. The useless government must lead by setting a good example.

Please, tell me how your government has obeyed its own laws in the past 60 years of Nigeria's banana republic existence.

Rubbish!

It still boils down to Nigerians, and it is the same Nigerians that then enter government.
As I always say, give Nigerians a junction and you will see traffic gridlock immediately. Some will refuse to give way and block the road for others whoes side of the road is free. Little traffic and they block incomming vehicles by following one way. If you know how some of the inner streets of London are small, you wonder how cars and large buses pass without traffic.
Same with government, can any person give a reasonable explanation why Lagosians must suffer as the do daily on the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway from PWD to Ikeja along? The new bridge has been completed but the road is still diverted. The traffic is outrageous. God helps you if you are caught there from 4pm. Pure suffering.

My brother well said, I keep saying it, Nigerians deserve the kind of leaders they have, we want good but do bad to each other and even encourage same, is it not a shame?

Someone will deliberately date a lady just to fvck her, yet promising heaven and earth and even marriage just to get laid, a lady will pretend to love a guy just because he has money or could take care of her needs while not planning to marry him, knowing what he wants is marriage. We find ways to dupe vulnerable people just because we can.

Until a good number of us turn a new leaf, bad government will be our lot.

Every human being, including those in the Western world that Nigerians refer to, are capable of perpetrating the same crimes as us but guess what is limiting these crimes? LAW AND ORDER.

A country where lawmakers (legislators) can't make laws for the benefit of the country, a people NOMINATED by executives.

A country where law interpreters (Judiciary) are not fair with the constitution but interpret to favor the highest bidders. After all, those highest bidders SELECTED them for the job.

A country where law enforcers (Executive) aren't obeying the little laws made or interpreted by those they either nominated (legislator) and selected (judiciary) respectively. They control the resources and there is nothing anyone will do.

Laws make a nation where people reside, whereas people (few) make the laws that keep a sane nation.

See, this Nigeria we are in ehn? People are vicious . Lagos that i am in. i can count a million problems wrong with us.

Your car breaks down on the express and you will see Agberos coming to ask you for money. Towing van will come to exploit you.

lastma will exploit you. Imagin Latsma working with area boys to mislead you to take a route so that you will be arrested. Same with police.

local government people will come to lock your shop over local government fee or whatever. Rather than carry their duties professionally, they will act high and mighty shouting and talking carelessly to one.

Take your case to the police station, even you the reporter, innocent, accused must pay something. Imaging asking you for Izal money to see somoene that was locked up. They will talk to you anyhow especially the women and ladies.

Has anyone made a return at the famous ladipo market and collected back his money complete or in one piece? How can i return a part that isn't the same as what i wanted next day after purcahse and seller is telling me to pick another item that he cant refund me , that even if he will refund me, i will have to wait till month end. Month end came and pass. he hasnt refunded.

How have we normalized collecting money without rendering the service required? A business man will collect money before delivery then fail to deliver.

some people will knowingly sell a bad product to you as good and wouldn't accept a refund when you complain. computer village is notorious for this.

To be honest, we Nigerians like abusing the system, we like short cuts. we always like to play wise. Rather than join the queue, we will be looking for ways to cut the line and when we do, we will call ourselves wise and sharp. Everything in lagos is about being sharp. You wouldn't want to talk quietly so as not to be taken for a fool.

Market women will blame government for flood while they dump refuses in canals and gutters. You should check some roads in constructions and see what i am saying. Brewries to Badagry road under construction is already littered with refuse heaps and blocked drainages . Same with the Red line rail route, Ikorodu and all others. Should we be told how to dispose refuse properly?

That is why we are always suprised when one is honest with money in this part of the world. I mean, how many people will return a phone he found? how many will return money he found ? How many of us will do that? If we ask people why they stopped giving strangers a lift, most will say it is because they have had experiences of items being stolen from their cars when they do that.

Problems with Nigerians are plenty . we just like to trade blames. If we all behave and be true to ourselves, the government won't treat us the way they do. Afterall, we are the government. Aren't we? They say we are not corrupt until we get to that position of power. Pastors and imams aren't left out.

1001 issues with Nigeria are Nigerians.

Well said, I learnt that in some cities, citizens will gather their waste bins then wait for rain floods where they will dump refuse into drainages/gutter for the water to move it to the canals or waterways. I was like it is true Nigerians deserve the kind of leaders they have. We don't do things well in our localities and how do we expect government to behave well. We are a reflection of government that we have. We need to reorientate ourselves and think we'll for the society.

This is unnecessary. If the police force is doing the right thing, without bending or acting like they can't challenge power drunk politicians, we won't need to talk about this. This occurs in every society around the world. The difference is law and order reduces it in a society the police at least, care for lives and property.

Another Buhari apologist. Blame government when not in government, and then absolve government of all blames when you are actually in government.
Every country have criminals, reckless drivers, armed robbers, etc.
Unfortunately, in Nigeria, a government incapable of fighting crimes will easily change the issue to religious and tribal issue.
A government when people who commit crimes are judged by who they know, their tribe and religion?
Instead of focusing on the issue and who's responsible for maintaining law and order you're here spewing nonsense.
Next, you will cry to God to come down and solve criminal problems in Nigeria while the police and DSS chase after political opponents.
