This is the humanity we've lost as a nation. Hell, people even find it hard give detailed help on an anonymous forum (Compare threads on Reddit with Nairaland) without dishing out insults.

Aren't you risking a driving ticket with the one handed driving? I wonder if most Naija uber drivers can ever outgrow the "one hand on wheel, the other on phone" driving style?

U mean one hand driving is an offence?

Something strange happened to me today.

On the highway 6, I got a flat tyre and I parked beside the yellow emergency lane.

To my greatest surprise, cops showed up. I was so afraid that omo na wahala be this…. 😔😔 A Lagos hustler will relate to this kind of thing.

Cop:- you speaks English??

Me: yes I do

Cops:- you got extra tyre 🛞 in there?

Me: yes I do officer

Cops:- we will help you fix it you looked tired 😴 have this water.

I wanted to cry 😢 seeing the humanity in them…

They didn’t asked me anything than this and still gave me water to drink.

I remembered how my own brothers were treating me back home, I couldn’t hold my tears back.

You’ll see your brothers in need and that’s when our officials will devour on you and milk you dry.

Please try and japa don’t let anybody discourage you with everything is expensive… yes is not easy but farrrrrrr better than naija.

Note: japa with right documents and if you do, make sure you abstain from drugs and illegal deals.

I also once got help from police around Villa Gate Abuja, I mistakenly hit the sideways ramp and my tyre got punctured, they saw how the tyre was giving me a hard time so two of them came over rolled up their sleeve and changed my tyre, after they are done I tried giving them tip but they declined. I thanked them and left.

We also have good cops in Nigeria.

Generally, cops in Abuja are good. They even pay fares when they board buses, it was a cultural shock for me when I was new in Abuja.

Sometime last year when I bought my car and didn't know how to even use the Google app, na that time I know say there is a difference between being driven in lagos and you actually doing the driving. I was on that expressway heading to gbagadà and didn't know how to find my way to oshodi then. I no even know wetin the map dey talk. I say a police patrol van. I drove to them and told the officer, oga I am lost. I don't know my way. Man asked me to calm down and asked me where I wanted to be. Told him I needed to get back to oshodi. He explained it vividly to me. Infact three other police guys came around to join him in explaining how I needed to drive. And I followed their description and got back to oshodi. Na for that highway I even stop ask them this question and they saw say true true this man no know where him dey go. A lot of bad eggs abound sha. Such would have arrested me there sef for illegal parking because I was not supposed to if u follow the lagos state traffic law.

It is only Lagos that personnels don't pay fares.

Nothing concern Bus driver for Onitsha or Enugu with "Staff". Everybody pays, including soldiers.

I never disputed the fact that we have good cops… but their is a law here and orders. Why will I be in need of help and emergencies and all the police/officials back home could do was to extort me.

Do you know indirectly we’re paying for these peoples salary by renewing our road permit licenses and all.

Road safety is doing the same job police is doing.

I said some of them still have their humanity in them while many of them are terrible. I was heading to gbagada and didnt know how to find my way back to oshodi then.
My subsequent experience with some of them have been terrible. They once abducted me at ilupeju that I did illegal parking and I must transfer 75k to them immediately and then pay another 75k at their office that they are taskforce on a saturday. When I called my younger bro who is a flight lieutenant with nigerin airforce at the ikeja airforce base, these guys kept driving round lagos that day that I must transfer money to them because they knew my brother and some officers were on the way to rescue me based on that call and I was sharing live locations with My brother. At the end they dumped me at Anthony and collected the 5k I had in my wallet and pointed a gun at me to drive off. Since that incident August last year, I have a big airforce sticker emblazoned on my windshield and that one they hand on the rear mirror and with that I dey pass anywhere including one way if I can't help it and latsma go carry eyes look away.

Police Guys don help me one time like that, i can't exactly remember what happened to my car that day.
I begged a couple of drivers to assist me, the ones tat agreed was telling me between 5 & 6k to help me tow the car home.
I was determined to sleep inside the car to avoid stories that touch, this is happening just before the second toll gate.
Around 1am i saw torchlight i quickly got out, the policemen asked me i explained everything.
They asked if i have towing rope, that was how they towed me to somewhere safe at that new lounge before total.
They refused to collect anything, execpt action bitters.
It was at that point i realized how risky was i did was, it dawned on me at that point.
