The Federal Government and the International Organisation for Migration evacuated no fewer than 5,219 stranded Nigerians between February and December 2023, SUNDAY PUNCH has learnt.

This is according to figures obtained from the IOM and the National Emergency Management Agency.

Checks showed that 2,849 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from Sudan, 1,916 from Libya, 441 from the Niger Republic, and 13 from Saudi Arabia in the last 11 months.

It was gathered that in December, 281 stranded Nigerians were received from Libya and 161 Nigerians were repatriated from Libya.

In October, 108 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from Libya; 155 were repatriated from Libya in September, and in August, 459 Nigerians trapped in Libya were repatriated.

In July, 205 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from Sudan, 340 stranded Nigerians from Sudan and Libya were received in June, while 2,678 were received in May from Sudan, Saudi-Arabia and Niger Republic.

Also, 403 stranded Nigerians were evacuated from Libya and Niger Republic in April, 279 stranded Nigerians were received in March from Libya and 150 were received in February from Niger Republic.

On November 23, 2023, the Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, warned Nigerians against travelling abroad without proper documentation.

Dabiri-Erewa spoke when she visited some stranded Nigerians who violated Canada’s immigration laws.

A retired ambassador to Algeria, Mohammed Mabdul, explained that Nigerians were generally restless and keen to travel abroad for the so-called “greener pasture”.

Mabdul said, “Nigerians are generally restless and keen to travel abroad for the so-called greener pasture. Unfortunately, due to low qualifications and lack of basic skills, they become stranded and unemployed in their host country.”

There's a message that's being echoed loudly all over the country, the urgent need for every Nigerian to Japa.
Doctors, bankers,Teachers,Nurses and many professionals are japaing out of the country.
We must not also forget the unskilled and barely literate Nigerians who are desirous of the proverbial golden fleece on the other side of the Atlantic.
But like the report said, many of Us get to the other side and realize most of the courses we studied and jobs we did while in Nigeria are useless upon landing on the other side of the Atlantic.
That's the reality many Nigerians are facing abroad, this travel companies don't always tell Nigerians the hard truth when they are processing their papers.
Now that's a real problem,but there's a need for a solution.
I hereby propose a solution,a sharp Nigerian will create a problem and also bring the solution.
Any sharp Investor or business person must employ bloggers and influencers to blow up the problem of employability of Nigerians abroad, make so much noise and scare the people who want to Japa.
Then we quickly move to the solution, create an industry to train Nigerians who desire to travel abroad.
We can call it Skill Employability Training for Japaing out of Nigeria, training will be done in Short and long term courses.
Infact any wise Investor will take it a step further, pick a country anywhere in the world and come up with a skill that is needed or suitable for that country, and start your training courses.
For those who want to go a step further, you can import a white man or woman to come down every quarter for some motivational jargons and do some skill training.
Kai,better format to milk millions from desperate Nigerians.
Not forgetting using bloggers and influencers to push this idea down the brain of Nigerians.
I'm sure that's another avenue to rake up millions for those that don't want to Japa from Nigeria in 2024.
Nigerians must get sense by force in 2024.
Finally for those of us who aren't japaing yet, don't forget to buy property around the fastest growing industrial hub in Nigeria,Land around the Dangote Refinery.
Stay in Nigeria and make some Investment for the present and your future..

God bless Nigeria....

If FG Have Not Make Any Plans to Engage Them Meaningfully, Then

While some are struggling to Japa, others are doing Japada. Many of these people in these funny countries are looking for ways to enter Europe.

I still know someone that went to Libya as at a month ago. She said hairdressing is more lucrative there. But her intention is to enter Spain or Italy.
