All these looters we have as politicians are always out of ideas - always vomiting nonsense

What is foolish about his suggestion pls. Most time you all hail UK. However, struggle to implement what exist there.

Thanks but no thanks to the Senator.
Unlike those so called advanced Nations practicing this method, Nigeria doesn't have guaranteed jobs fr her citizens.
In cases where one is jobless fr two three months , he is sure to be able to work up before the year elapse to pay up

He should also initiate a direct and auto billings from Tenants account, such that before tenants salary lands in his account, the landlord and others he's owing are automatically credited.

I tire for that guy. Some people are so frustrated that they can't see when something helps their situation. Meanwhile I read the provisions of the bill on another site earlier today and I saw so much sense in it.

This is not good. It will push up monthly rent payments. It will create another chaos. Landlords will prefer private agreements with tenants willing to pay 1year rent and exercise of prejudice against a month rent seeker.

To collect once a year na problem. Then imagine collecting 12x in a year.
If anything, they should look into the fees: agent's fees, lawyer fees, etc that add up the total amount payable by a prospective tenant.

Countries with more money pay rent per month, nigeria the poor country is taking rent per year
It’s an anomaly

It’s not a good idea in Nigeria,it will only make rent more expensive and people won’t be able to pay it either
Re: Senator Nwoko Initiates Bill On Monthly Payment Of Rent by oneMalik: 8:54pm On Jan 27

See all the angry landlords above me complaining. Anyways whether you people like it or not, it's a welcome development and it's here to stay.

Since you people refused to do it yourselves quarterly when you had the chance, let the govt do it for you monthly to save the masses from your extortions. It's too much. haba! And on top of that you people are increasing rent like no man business. I pray they look into that as well.
What about workers mode of payment ? Workers should be paid per hour so tgst bosses will stop using nigerians like slaves ib their own country

Monthly rental is a global practice. Nobody is asking for free housing from private owners. Just make it monthly so wage earners don't choke trying to pay rent.

May I remind you that house rentage used to be on monthly basis in Nigeria until about 2 decades ago when sharks took over and began demanding two to three years from prospective tenants. Someone wants to bring regulation to a vital area of human existence. You should not be bitter unless you are a part of the chain bearers.

It's not viable. In a country where employer can owe staff up to 6 months

Why the criticism? This is a good bill. Nawa for all these jobless men that their parents left buildings as an inheritance.

Go and look for work. Buildings are legacy projects and long-term investments. Not a get-rich-quick business.

Don't mind the idiot, it's ok we are going to charge what's been charged abroad since you want us to collect rent monthly. A single room in the UK with shared toilets and kitchen is £500 pounds per month, that's N875,000 per month, so landlords will now charge for a month.

3 bedroom flat in the US goes for $2500 per month, that will be N3,600,000 per month
also consider wetin dem dey collect as daily payment. If I collect 500 dollars only a day for naija. Why I go complain?
