There are many radio stations in Lagos. There are English radio stations. There are pidgin stations. There are even Yoruba radio stations. But why is there is no IGBO radio station in Lagos yet?

The audience is here. Nke wu eziokwu wu na the Igbo population in Lagos is over 1million strong. It makes business sense for our Igbo businessmen to tap into this opportunity to corner over 1million Igbo listeners.

The Lagos-based Igbo station I envision is one in which:

1) Every thing is presented in our Igbo language. Be it sports, politics, entertainment or business.

2) There will also be programmes presented in different Igbo dialects like Nkanu, Ngwa, Abakiliki, Nsukka na onu mba ndi ozo.

3) The station will follow our Eke, Orie, Afo and Nkwo FOUR MARKET DAYS week system.

4) There will be NO promotion of Biafra or secession agenda on the station. The station must strictly follow the broadcasting laws of Nigeria.

Apart from the business profitability of this my proposed Lagos-based Igbo radio station, it will also help keep our Igbo language alive to our young generation of Igbo people who are being seduced by English, pidgin and other Nigerian languages.

I wish I had the money to bring this my idea to reality. Nevertheless, I’m ever ready to contribute my brainpower and manpower to any serious investor interested in setting it up. You can also consult me for the radio’s name suggestions.

This is my open-letter to Igbo billionaires and Igbo multimillionaires home and abroad looking for where to invest their money.

If you're serious about making this radio station a reality then write a business proposal or cost/profit analysis at least.

Get someone in broadcasting to become your cofounder.

Start seeking investors.

The reality though is no one wants to throwaway their money and will hardly show interest. Some people you show will even steal and implement the idea without you.

The best way to make this dream a reality is for you to save and start on your own. Start small, you do not need to own a radio station from the beginning. Make your idea into a radio show and seek sponsors. Start from there. As time goes on and you become more popular, you can secure funding for the radio station.

Thank you so much for your practical suggestions.

You're right. I thought about the concerns you raised before deciding to plant the idea out there.

I know there's a possibility that this my idea will take root and grow without me. However, the world will know that Ngene Chibueze John was the first to give out the seed. History and posterity shall remember me.

2020 will make it 50years since the end of the Biafra War. I feel this idea is 10years late already. The IGBO FUTURE is most important to me for now.

Your idea is so cool, I'm going to East to invest my money on Yoruba radio and TV channel...

I think even Hausa needs their Radio channel in your hometown city...

You think someone haven't thought about that already?
Its just not feasible for investment, investors like to target the major audiences, not just a section they felt are many... In the end, another competitor will still come and tap from those little audience and there won't be profits gained again...

Either you target our major language or you target the regional language, that's how you make money... NOT by shouting Ndi Igbo kwenu.

I am ashame of you. You don't want people in your region but your people are in other regions living freely. Why not call them to come back home?

With your yeye mark for face like where devil flog.
