Eteka1: What do you mean that money no reach again? Who in his right senses change the price of his goods at will, hoards them and use dollars scarcity as yardstick for doing that. Even in advanced economies, things are not done like that. 2 Likes |

Kushites: Mumu agbadorian, a business man saving his goods in warehouses is hoarding abi. Business men supply goods according to demand, that's why they store in warehouse or do you want it to be inside containers. |

Kushites: Close all the businesses na.... Make we see how the country go be.... Y'all like shouting let the Naira be influenced by market force...... So long as the Naira continually depreciates, business owners will fix their price to make profit. Simple economics.... |

There was a similar scenario years ago when some filling stations stored PMs and did not sell them. I remember the government of the PDP, and Obi is one of them. They ordered task forces to open any gas station and sell everything they had. How does Obi react then, or was that different from recent situations? 1 Like 1 Share |

Pitobi gbenu e soun God knows you are very happy with the precarious state of the country. However, what would you do if just like yesterday a bag of cement jumped from 8k to 15? We know what's happening is beyond just a bad president because the president doesn't produce food hence couldn't be the one who sit somewhere and call his employees to just triple prices of goods for no any justifiable reason. This means some people are working against Nigerians through their displeasure with Tinubu. No doubt this story will have it's conclusion either leading to division of the country or army taking over because at this current rate of madness increments in prices of things, the poor will riot and bring you all down with them. Before warn is before armed. 1 Like 1 Share |

Realtruth2023:I think you are the one talking like someone who can't comprehend. The government through the consumer protections board is going after hoarders. Hoarding is an economic crime, economic saboteurs. It's a shame Obi allow politics confuse him into supporting what is hurting our economy. |

Re: Stop Being Heartless, Fix The Economy, Leave Business Owners Alone – Obi To FG by Konquest: 2:26am On Feb 18 |
flokii:True that. During COVID-19, some folks in the U.S. speculatively hoarded hand sanitizers and other health-related items with the intention to sell them at higher profits due to the high demand. When the U.S. authorities got to know about the speclators they got them arrested. I'm surprised that some highly irresponsible people right from page 1 of this thread and some other NL threads are in support of speculative hoarding of foodstuffs and rampant profiteering. No country in the world runs a full capitalist economy. There's some measure of SOCIALISM embedded in the economic practices of a lot of Western/European countries in the area of protectionism and more. Nigeria cannot be any different. |

Kushites: Define Hoarding !!!!! Have you ever seen a business person who prefers hoarding over quick turnover of the products he or she is selling? GTFOH when you put crap on blast with your capital texting. This dead man walking President is your man, that is okay you are entitled to your opinion but advocating moving to another country was uncalled for. |

flokii: Do you want to know what is presently wrecking the economy of Nigeria? I will tell you. Your so-called CBN stipulates a Dollar rate for clearing goods at the port. How does your custom determine the valuation of the goods coming in? They don't know it. They just pull a number out of their a**. For example, someone bringing in a 2007 salvage Honda Accord that was bought at the auction for maybe $1200, and shipped to Nigeria for $1300. Total landing cost of $2500. That same car, your out-of-this-world Nigeria custom on their website has a valuation of $4975 against the car. How did they come up with $4975 very easy to explain they are looking at the blue book value of the car. They had no clue regarding the differences between a salvage car and a clear title car. When an Insurance sends a car to the auction the determining factor is the residual on a car after repair. A customer had an accident in a car that was valued at $4975, The insurance adjuster determined that the repair cost for the car to be $3500. Guess what the insurance people will do they will send the car to the auction and try to sell it for $1475 minus the handling fees/auction fees. That is how you arrived at the $1200. I know what I am saying when it comes to this whole auction business because I wrote some applications for some auction houses. Nigeria Customs needs to change the applications they are using in their valuation. Let you on a secret, bringing that same car brand new from Japan the customs duty paid to clear the into the USA was $495. Anybody who ever bought a brand new car in the USA will see that $495 on their car's MSRP(Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price) invoice. Nigeria Customs charges more to clear a salvage used car than what was originally paid to clear the same car when it was brand new |
