August last year I bought a 180w solar panel, 65AH deep cycle battery, 500w solar inverter, 30A charge controller, and a 10m wire(red and black). I ordered the items online from Jumia, after reading the manual and watching YouTube solar installation videos, I did the connections and installations all by myself with no prior knowledge of electrical works. So far so good, no regrets as I now enjoy 24/7 uninterrupted power supply for my Laptop, phone and light.

Good day, fellas. Considering the hike in Fuel and Nepa bill coupled with epileptic power supply in Naija. Now, guys using Solar energy instead of Nepa or Gen. How do you guys do it? What type do you use? How do you manage it? I'm thinking of using solar but i would like you to share your experience.

I sell Solar panels inverters and accessories and installations can be done by my technicians as well.
For all ur houselhold needs, kindly co tact me if you need Solar

I use a 3.5kva in my office with 4 tubular batteries I notice that it works better when charged with electricity due to the load in my officr when the weather is fair then then am sure the batteries will last between 9am to about 4.30pm before we switch to generator however when there is electricity for few hours then we wnt have need for a generator

I have one tabular battery 200watt solar and 1kva inverter. For like six months now I have not run out of power. I use 100 watt, 60 watt laptop most times during the day. Then at night only laptop till I go to bed. Its worth it. Zero regrets.

What battery are you using

No they wont all be on at the same time.

The laptops will be on mostly during work hours , the when the ACs will most likely not be on. Two ACs will never be on at the same time, remember, they are inverter ACs. All fans will Hardly be on at the same time some
Are for work space others are for living spaces which do not work at the same time. Certainly all the energy saving bulbs will never be on at the same time. E.g Security lights only come on at night.

The priority and constant for me is the freezer to stock fresh goods/save costs -and its an inverter freezer.
freezer running constant on inverter of how much. Is ur setup over 10m naira, or else he go shock you soon

Lithium battery is more durable than tubular battery. Its cells are renewable unlike the tubular battery.

I work with BEEBEEJUMP SOLAR Int. in Lagos.

The inverter is 3.6kva. The solar works during the day and batteries at night, assuming there is no light (we usually have light shortly before dark and all through the night)

In any case I have a 3 year warranty, with proper use and maintenance which the installer will carry out.

So if there are ever any issues, it is the supplier, not me that will be “shocked”

Hello.
Can one go on solar alone?
Dat means no charging with nepa light. Am i correct?

Yes it's called going off Grid. It's expensive to go off Grid but it's necessary with the way Nigeria is going because, everybody want to eat each other. So anything to avoid government will be cool.

An equivalent of 3000VA generator is 7m at the moment. Very expensive. Therefore, I suggest you use solar and nepa alone. Use 1.5m buy solar and back up with nepa.

Anyways... I sell dc generators and locally made inverters. For electricians who want to know how to design this inverter. Send me a dm

There’s no sign that you sell dc generators on your page.

I want to ask a question.
Must one buy inverter along with solar?

Depends on your budget, you can start in this sequence :
1.Solar panel
2.Inverter
3. Batteries and charge controller

Why is the battery not always strong?

Whenever I think about the solar.. People just talk abt the battery lives?

STRONG ABUSE.
People abuse this things perhaps due to ignorance.

My wife is an example.

She go argue with you say, provided say na wetin them build that thing for, you suppose use am like slave.

Nothing like safety measures like using 50% of the installed capacity.

People use UpTo 90-95% of the installed capacity.

This is where the problem starts

I have read through everyone's response to your question, And I am not going to counter anyone's advise given to you.
I have been using Solar electricity for several years and I am still using it now and I also did some installation back then before I stopped.
There are facts about Solar electricity you need to know before you venture into it.its left for you to make your choice
What I am about to tell now, no solar electricity engineer would tell you
Firstly, you can't replace THE MAIN GRID with Solar electricity, solar is there for back up.
It's better you do a household solar system, probably a 2.0kva,24V Inverter 1000watts solar panel, 2 TUBULAR BATTERIES system to carry resistive loads of TV, DSTV,one or two fans DURING THE DAY WHEN THERE IS SUNLIGHT and when it's evening, use it for LIGHTING OF BULBS ONLY.
Use your remaining money to buy a standard generator that can power your AC, FREEZER and other inductive loads.
Do not buy china made, buy ORIGINAL INDIAN PRODUCT that will last you, get the once that has SERVICE CENTRE In case of repairs of minor faults
Install a battery balancer on your 24V battery system
Make sure you do EARTHING on your solar system to prevent LIGHTNING damage during rainfall
I wish someone told me all these facts when I first ventured into solar electricity, I wasted a lot of money before I finally got it right
Don't waste your money trying to build solar system that will carry PUMPING MACHINE ,AC,FREEZERS, ITS VERY EXPENSIVE TO BUILD NOW. TRUTH BE TOLD it will work after installation but not sustainable, because these appliances draw lots of current from the batteries, even if you buy 10 batteries at once, it's a matter of time, the moment one of the battery develops a fault( thermal fault, shorted cell, open cell) it will start to affect others.
And lastly, during rainfall, solar electricity is not always effective, you will have to rely more on your battery backup, at this time try to reduce your resistive loads.
I hope you find this helpful.....JSolar, jerryighodalo@gmail.com.

You are very right you don’t have to sustain on only solar it will even damage your battery phone battery and shorten the life of your appliances I swear nothing like raw electricity

Now I understand...

Anyway I don't blame people for over using the battery...

It's the fault of the government when they refuse to provide electricity... ofcourse people will find alternative from things around them...

If we hav enough power... I'm sure the battery will last well

My brother, if have the resources to go for Solar please don't waste time. I have saved a lot of money since August 1 2023 they installed it for me in a 3 Bedroom flat (Rented). I spent 2.5m for installing Solar.

6 panels 550 watts (long Panel)

4 Tubular batteries 220Ah

5KVA Inverter

Circuit breaker

It powers

(1) Haier Termacool Deep Freezer 379 liters (inverter)

(2) Samsung double door Fridge (inverter)

3) LG washing machine 9 kg (inverter)

4) 240 kg Air frier not deep frier ooo ( we off everything when in use)

5) 43 inches LG televisions x2 that runs almost 24 hours

6) qasa electric iron 1,200 watts.

Since that August1, I have not on my generator

It starts charging from may be 8.30 am

U did those filer and couldn't put price?

Any vendor who don't put price for me is not trustworthy honestly might be wrong but that's how I fee
I am curious.
Do you seriously expect him to put price on that flyer?
With the very unstable economy where you can buy something today for N1000 and tomorrow it might be N2000.

I am currently working on a tilling project.
I bought 5 bags of cement on a Saturday for 5600. The next day I ordered for 5 more, the price had become 5700. 3 days later it became 7000. That same day it became 7200. The last one I bought was 10,000. Right now cement is N13,000.

Just imagine the seller has a flyer and had put price at N5,600. what do you think would have happened 3 days later when price rose up to 7200, and then now that it got to 13k. Won't that render all the flyers useless?

If you happen to be a buyer won't you argue with him on the current market price as against the price quoted on the flyer?

No business worth his onions will put any price on any product right now.

Enter market right now, the price they will give you will be different from what you will get when you come back in the evening.
