•The hardship is too much, we can’t continue to bear it —Residents •Cement vendors decry poor patronage •Housing deficit’ll continue to rise unless prices drop —REDAN laments Nigerians, especially the low and middle-income earners, have cried out over the present high cost of cement saying they will no longer be able to own their houses in the country. This is just as the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, REDAN, declared that unless a sustainable solution was found to the problem of high cost of cement and other building materials, Nigeria’s housing deficit will continue to rise. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/03/rising-cost-of-cement-we-cant-own-houses-again-nigerians-cry-out/ 1 Like 1 Share

Dangote is a very greedy bastarɗ. This is the same man that Emefíele was given our dollars at official rates dubiously to do business and build that refinery. It's funny how some Nigerians think that evìl and greedy abokī man will revolutionize the oil sector and end refined oil importation. In a sane clime, Dangote supposed to be in prison m 39 Likes 2 Shares |

People don't know or understand what our economy is up to this time... What tinubu did was to make our economy more less of importation and he made it more attractive for exportation, people should find a mins to export and you will earn and live big in Nigeria and also build your own house... Know regime has been better in Nigeria and the next president may be the worst so let's forget about this government of a thing and find a way for ourselves 5 Likes 2 Shares |

There is a big cement ware house I pass by every day. It surprises me how trucks still troop in to load cement. It really surprises me that they are still making magnificent sales despite the rise in price. This life na turn by turn. Na now be the time for some people to build their house. House wey dem no get money build when cement was way cheaper. Na now God bless dem with money wey go fit afford to buy cement at dis current price. Thank God for my life. 53 Likes 2 Shares |

This is a a serious issue. I am an Engineer and majorly into building construction. A lot of my projects are already suspended. Everything now is terribly expensive. I wonder why nobody is talking about iron rods. Yesterday I bought a ton of 16mm iron at #1,150, 000 ( localoo not even imported), iron I bought around december at #625, 000. I bought six tons instead of the ten tons I needed for the project. Marine board is now #23000 for one, what used to be #11, 0000. 30 tons of granite is almost heading to #700, 000. The last time I went to mushin to buy HDF wood for kitchen cabinet and wardrobe, I went round for about two hours pricing. The prices were ridiculously high that I just entered my car and went home. I wonder why people are even talking about cement which is the least of the headache while not mentioning iron, granite, marine board etc. This is terribly terrible. About six of my projects have been suspended already and the remaining others are going to be suspended. Even my clients abroad that I build for, when they change their hard currency and use it to buy materials, they are also feeling the heat of the terrible economy. 34 Likes 2 Shares |

FG should open.borders, let people start importing cement. Most peole have abandoned their building projects because of unreasonable price hike from so called cement mamufacturers.. Cememt that the major raw materials are available in Nigeria. 4 Likes |

However, in a survey carried out by Vanguard within one week between February 11 and 22, 2024, the price of a 50kg bag of cement rose to between N10,500 and N13,000 in many parts of Lagos, Ogun and other states across Nigeria amidst rising inflation. People that had old stock and maybe bought at 4,400 also jerked up their prices to 11k - 12k; people whose conscience has been seared with a hot iron. Once prices goes up in Nigeria it never comes down this is what I have observed since my birth in this suffer suffer land, cement can never be 5k again with the devaluation and subsidy removal, hardship is just arriving by December any one that can afford to cook a pot of rice and stew na better big man, Buhari was the best president to manage Nigeria but the shallow minded citizens always abuse their patriots ntoor unu .. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Hmm... So much to do. The Federal and state governments need to develop a comprehensive mortgage scheme to help Nigerians have thier own homes as long as they have a legitimate and steady source of income. The present housing loan schemes are too opaque, corruption ridden and unrealistic for those who actually desire to own thier own homes. 2 Likes |

Macphenson: And people are abusing government if they try to meddle in the prices when the citizens are part of the saboteurs. Citizens are wicked and greedy. I don’t know if there’s a price control board in this country. 3 Likes |
