Why would you dip it in Engine oil when you just washed off Engine oil

The oil prevents dirt from getting into the air/ fuel mixture in the carburettor. It's almost useless to have an air filter without oil in it.

Called someone to check it but he didn't seem to know where the problem was coming from. The generator is working quite alright, I'm not just comfortable with the cracking sound it sometimes make when it's running. Any idea what the problem might be? I've also changed the oil. It's a 3.75kva Thermocool generator and I use strictly mobil oil. Got it towards the end of January 2023. I can send an audio if need be.

did he check the screw nut? My own was doing something similar still someone tighten one loose screw!

I have never used kerosene for this once, I use warm water with soap, that's what is written in my manual, it's also written on the air filter cover, you can check yours.

Wow i didnt know ...been washing and drying the air filter and returning it without engine oil for like 20 months now . Didnt know i needed to do that

Any idea how much Firman spg 2900 costs now?

For brand new i think you can only get any brand of "I pass my neighbour" for your budget, exchange rate wahala is crazy my brother.
I saw "I pass my neighbour" gen at Twins Faja store for #177,000 and i open mouth in amazement 😁.

x and y but cut that wire a little bit shorter to the insulated robber or else you won blow house if that wire got entangled

I just noticed recently my 2.5kva generator,whenever it is powered on,I noticed a very pungent smell like electrical wires are melting/burning.
I called an experienced engineer,who helped changed piston and rings(gen has been working amazing well since he did that few months ago),he traced all the possible electrical components,but could not decipher what might be the cause(thou it doesn't affect the way the generator works,carries all proper load as it should).he checked AVR and coil,he says all is good.
But I noticed this issue started when I switched fuel stations,NNPC where I normally buy have not been selling for a while,so I switched to mobil,I am suspecting it's the fuel,but I might be wrong.

Can any one help figure out?

fuel doesn't give our that kind of smell no matter how the fuel is bad. I'm guessing is from the wire you use to connect to the Gen. Check the wire it must have been melting inside the plug connector

Everything wires was thoroughly inspected,
Even traced to inside the ceiling,all was intact
The smell doesn't even come from the wire at all comes from the exhaust side
