Merger may take place early next year or late this year, this is purely assumption.grin grin grin
Oga, you are wicked o grin

On a serious note, I think patience is key in order not to exit and all of a sudden, you hear the announcement. By then, you will not see it to buy until it reaches close to N90 and that will be very painful.

Patience is required now cos it might come like a thief. It depends when the announcement was made, whether it was during bull or bear period.

Ok o. We all want a Nigeria of our dream irrespective of the political party. But then, the bolded is paramount. If I tell you that my expenses has tripled since this government took over. Just to do fence 2 weeks ago for one of my empty plot of land costs over N1.7m (just 3 sides without gate). I just came back from Foodco now and the bread we normally buy @ N350 is now N1000......the list is endless
It is why I have decided to suspended all building projects for this yr till 3rd quarter/next year since I saw the artificial/unnecessary increament in building materials just because of dollar magic. I was sure dollars will find its true value with right policy/political will.

Tony is smart. Book building strategy is fantastic. Probably eyes fixed on an offer bid prices in the range of N30-35 judging by the new shares tabled (but a higher cut off is still possible) to raise the extra capital. He only needs to show that UBA can sustain a dividend policy above N3.00 yearly after recapitalization to achieve good uptake/bids. He has my respect 🫡 . He probably has a foreign underwriter. On this route, UBA should meet recapitalization in weeks or a couple of months. This is a clear pointer to a fantastic Q1 result. No one does this without good sure back up. Q1 results would probably come in right after closure of register to give wind to the sails of this option.

This is normal legal finance talk. Nothing genius about it. I suggest you don't read too much into it. ALL banks will do the same. It's not about Tony.

Read note 9 of GT notice of AGM too. Any other bank notices that doesn't include book building doesn't mean they won't do it. It's just normal if you have a whole array of options for capital raising. Price discovery mechanism to be adopted won't be uniform across these avenues or platforms. Make no mistake about it though, a public offer on the NGX won't be at a premium.

Not really what he is saying. He means the banks will not come for public offer at cheap price. That means they will try and pump up the price on ngx through all means necessary/legal to make the PO price come up though below the pumped price

Hello Chief, can you please explain / expatiate on the bolded.

It was in reference to OP's opinion of an offer price (N30 - N35). My point was that UBA will not tap the market for funds at a price higher than the prevailing market price on the NGX. Discounts will always be offered to attract investors. So not sure why he believes the price will be in that range except he also believes the price on the floor or bvps will be much higher than it is today when that time comes to raise funds in any combination of options available at their disposal.

All in my opinion.

Don't understand this market. The current price carries a dividend of N2.30 that will be paid in a months time.

When interest rates are at 20% elsewhere, coupled with the news of an impending dilution of shareholders' equity, a return of 11.25% may not be considered very attractive. embarassed

It's as if they are looking towards foreign investments. I think that may be reasonable, because the 500 billion to be raised was likely due to having subsidiaries outside Nigeria. I don't really know what I'm talking about, so don't take me too seriously.

So you mean if i buy UBA today, i will get paid N2.70 dividend by 24th of May? Just dey play!!! I don't know if you guys just like to deliberately misinform people. The dividend to be paid to anyone that enters UBA today is N2.30, that is 10% on an entry price of N23; as against the N2.70 you all are trumpeting.

I still think 2.30 is fair enough. Considering how much others are paying
