I learnt that:

1. Start that project with the so-called little you have now. Plan effectively with at little & relish the incremental value/proverb. Don't wait until you hv every kobo you need.
2. There're people that may not help you unless they KNOW you're INDEED BROKE!
3. No one is BROKE permanently; it's a phase.
4. Remember that whenever you're broke, there people in WORSE conditions.
5. Be grateful. Even give thanks to God & see open doors.
6. Don't shut your bowels of mercies; give to others ...

It’s not a good place to be

However, cos your family were not there for you when you were down doesn’t mean other peoples family doesn’t help their siblings .. na you no get better siblings and parents

That was when I completed nysc and could not boast of 30k in the account. I was reduced lower than a church rat. Even church rat could afford to eat left over food in the church.

After exhausting the little I raised during NYSC, searching for jobs, I was left with nothing.

But God changed my story.

Funny enough then I was broke, I had more good female friends who wished I had money than now.

That without money you're nothing. Infact you and a madman has no differences.

Been Broke has taught me how to be calculative ( mainly on saving money for future issues, miscellaneous expenses and some other cost).. IT has also brought out the little wisdom on why I should be an economist , and who truly is my friend so as to avoid been sad.

Last thing on your mind when you're broke is OVER DEPENDANCE on family especially when you already know they are not rich.
It is a battle between you and yourself. You either float back up or sink.

Everything you need to survive is around you, you seriously have to isolate yourself and think. But if you still dey live with your mama and you dey broke, at least food must dey... LOL. Na lie oh. Don't ever be comfortable because that is where you will die (not physically).

That all the talk about helping people they won't forget it tomorrow is a big joke, that you're on your own in this world and most people who treated you nicely when you had money were just ants attracted to sugar, when I reached rock bottom I realized I was a fool cuz I helped so many people they learnt to utilize that weakness of never saying no to someone who needs my help to take advantage of me, and when I lost it all they acted like they didn't know me including my younger sister who I saw through secondary school, everyone stopped calling and I was left to deal with my problems on my own, so when I dusted myself up I deleted so many numbers on my phone book and killed that nice part of me that used to be a weakness.

Similar story here bro, I had issues and came back to Naija without faden, all my friends and relatives turned there back on me except for one and I don't joke with him now I'm doing fine... omo even family members everyone saying all manner of shit about me, a family friend even said I have mental issue which is a spiritual thing, they should take me to my hometown for cleansing, omo I see hell on earth, I went suicidal with strong depression, I always thankGod for my Mom and sister though, na only dem believe in me!, my junior brother even called me a FAILURE, that if its him he rather die in Europe than to come home, by God's grace I'm doing very well now and I'm paying everyone back what they ripped 100 percent, make no one manipulate or blackmail you into forgiving and helping anyone that was against you when you're low, they never cared for you!!!

No the purpose isn't defeated
When I had a job, I was in the habit of giving even to the last Kobo knowing fully well end of the month won't fail. If I had known, all those folks that used to run to me after Saturday football match and begging for one favor or the other, I would have made it clear to them that I am helping them so that they too could repair me.
Some of them I used to help don't even act as if they know me anymore.
The period when a person loses their job provides an opportunity to have a clear view of who the people around him really are.

Keep good relationship. Everyone can't abandon you at same time when you are
down especially if you are a good person yourself. Most of us don't save little when things are a little bit ok. we spend some of our savings just to show off at times. Let's us spend wisely
Save to invest the little you can
Don't allow your low moments to control your present situation it's the worst thing you could think of right now
Make sure you don't give up the hustling spirit

I had a first hand experience. Don't ever allow people to take advantage of you when you have money. Always coordinate yourself at all times
