Former Governor of Benue State and Senator who represented Benue North-East Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, Gabriel Suswam, has declared that the ministers appointed by President Bola Tinubu have no value.

According to Suswam, the current Nigerian leadership headed by President Bola Tinubu lacks the wherewithal to take the country out of the economic misfortune inflicted by his predecessor Muhammadu Buhari.

He said the removal of the petrol subsidy, floating of the naira, and increase in electricity tariff, among other policies initiated by the Tinubu government, is evident that the former Lagos State governor is out to make things worse for the Nigerian masses.

The Senator made the comments as a guest on Channels Television’s Newsnight programme.

His words: “Most of the people put in places as ministers are people who lack capacity to hold those offices. One would have believed that the President, with the kind of people he selected in Lagos, do the same in terms of getting people who understand what they are doing.

“Unfortunately, maybe it’s a larger environment and so it’s different. When you have lieutenants who themselves have no value to add, then there’s a problem with that. They have no value and so that is why most of these policies are being taken.

“I’ve looked at the budget, for instance. You have a budget that you know is basically not implementable ab initio, so how are we going to move forward because you have a deficit of close to 9 trillion naira right now? You have financing items for that deficit which themselves will not be realisable.

“So, you can add that to the deficit because when you say that you will sell government assets to finance the budget. Since 2019 when I was in the Senate, that has been a reoccurring decimal, year in, year out, they sell government assets to finance the deficit. You can’t realise anything that way.”

It's not about Tinubu's ministers; it's about the attitude of Nigerians towards public service. Nigerians don't come to public offices to serve - they come to lazy about, gossip and loot.

Hope this comment is not out of jealousy. Because everyone expected Femi to be part of the ministers after his sudden support for Tinibu during the election. But the president was a wise man

The 36 STATES GOVERNORS ARE FIRST LINE MINISTERS (MESSENGERS) OF THE FG. The so called MINISTERS are LIASON SECRETARIES BETWEEN THE GOVERNORS AND THE PRESIDENT BY IMPLICATIONS..

He's very right. Aside like four of them, the rest aren't doing anything worth mentioning. Maybe they are working underground, so we plead they propagate their doings if there's any.

Aside Cardoso, Wike, Umahi, Tunji-Ojo, then maybe Keyamo, other are just wasting space. Wale Edun fall my hand seriously.

The shameful part is that this administration gave more slots to women than previous ones but they've been disappointing all round. There's no woman minister whose performance is top notch like the men I listed. These are the set of folks that have been crying about inclusion and marginalization. What a pity! Betta Edu would have been among the ministerial gladiators, but she go pour sand into her own garri.

When is Hadiza Bala Usman going to finish cooking the assessment program she was instructed to design? We need fresh blood in the cabinet during the second year of this tenure.

People like Oyetola should never get near the presidential cabinet or be given any political position ever again until his last breath. Very shameful man - he just brought disgrace to the South West. Bayo Adelabu should go too - we can't afford to have incompetent hands leading a critical sector like Power.

Selecting ministers across the 36 states of the country is Herculean task, but that's not to say Tinubu has no fault - his ministers' mess are his too. Ruling your own state is very different from ruling the entire nation. I just hope great thought, research, and energy is invested into the next selection process. He might have give the middle finger to political vultures from the various regions to get competent hands.

Thank you Gabriel Suswam for your observations.

Now tell us how competent you were as Benue governor for 8 years. Let us start from there.

Before you boogy others, check yourself too. Some of the Ministers are doing well though. Let's not forget that it's the same 36 Governors that recommended them aside the selected few that are doing well. Suswam should hush it.

This is not true. They take cue from their master. The standard of their performance is Tinubu and you know what this means.

Most of them were just compensated with their positions.
That's APC's style.
They never think about the people they govern, only the people in the same party with them.

NOT ALL OF THEM !!

SOME ARE DOING AN OUTSTANDING JOB !!

BUT SOME OF THEM DO NOT EVEN KNOW WHAT THEIR PORTFOLIO'S ENTAIL !!

ITS TIME FOR A MUCH NEEDED CABINET RESHUFFLE !!

IF THE PRESIDENT HAS AN INEFFECTIVE CABINET, DELEGATION OF TASKS REMAINS IMPOSSIBLE......LEAVING TOO MUCH FOR THE PRESIDENT TO DO BY HIMSELF.

GET A GOOD TEAM AND THE PRESIDENT CAN ATTEND ALL THE INTERNATIONAL FUNCTIONS.

He has nothing to offer!!!!!

I remember telling some peeps many years ago that Fashola is only on propaganda. They use propaganda to pollute the space making the uninformed to think that they are working. Check out Fashola at the federal level. What did he achieve? What impact did he make.

Till date, I heard that Ambode is the best governor of Lagos State since 1999, yet the demonised him. So you can see that they hate performance. They only project corruption.

Talk is cheap. When you were given similar opportunity as a governor, what did you do? Nothing, and your administration witnessed and enjoyed the excess crude oil proceeds. It won't be well with all of you trampling on the future of Nigeria.
