Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, a former NBA chairman and senior advocate in Nigeria, has claimed that the Kogi State High Court’s order, which forbade the arrest of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, is still in effect. He claimed that the EFCC had unlawfully asked for and been granted the subsequent order. He contended that the legitimacy of the legal system may be jeopardised by inconsistent court rulings in situations such as these.

A High Court in Lokoja on the 17th of April granted a two-hour judgment restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC from arresting, detaining, and prosecuting Former Governor, Yahaya Bello. That same day, the EFCC obtained a warrant of arrest against Bello from a Federal High Court in Abuja.

SAN Olisa Agbakoba speaking against these conflicting court orders said in an interview with Channels TV, ”It may be true that an order that has a lifespan has expired. But it is not for us to determine that expiration, it is for the Judge to do that. The order granted by the Judge not to arrest the Ex-Governor stands. The only way to deal with that order is to go back to the judge and say that this is why I think the order should not have been granted.

I disagree with the argument that the court order has expired. I strongly believe that the second order that the EFCC obtained was wrongly applied for and wrongly granted. We have seen it in election cases, conflicting decisions were made. This has the effect of making us look dramatic as an institution. If a Judge grants an offer rightly or wrongly, you challenge it or you apply to set it aside. You cannot decide to say that you will not obey it.”

MOST OF THESE LAWYERS ARE INTERESTED IN THEIR SHARE OF THE LOOT.....THATS WHY THEY ARE DECEIVING YAHYA BELLO FROM DOING THE NEEDFUL, WHICH IS TO REPORT TO EFCC !

This man has been sniffing up a substance lately. Till today, the perpetual injuction granted Odili still standing, Yayah Bello has borrowed a leaf from the play book, if all followed suit, how then do we fight corruption.

It's clear the EFCC chairman doesn't know anything about the court and his job, he should resign immediately undecided

arrest the judge for what crime? We are not ready in this country to tackle curruption the efcc chairman knows this. How do you have a system that allows a politician with access to such amount of cash? Simple reason it is the same access people in the federal government or friends of the government have and are using it to loot the common wealth. The babariga guy with video of him stuffing wade of dollar is walking free. Sane societies build systems that prevent this sort of theft from happening. What the efcc is doing is pure persecution. If they beam thier search light to the federal government or lagos state account from 1999 to 2007 thier is high probability thier would be enough material that would be available to the national assembly in other to impeach the president you should think about it. Have you forgotten quickly the bullion van case? 6 month is enough for me or any reasonable person to build very robust systems that would prevent this kind of theft from even occurring. If you cannot build it you can copy from the western/ first world countries.

All these court injunctions here and there because Bello was a former governor and stole billions. Of course he has enough money to manipulate the system, just like those before him. Laws are created to protect the rich and suffocate the poor:

Agbakoba is always condoning judicial rascality and misconduct. No wonder he was not considered for appointment to the Supreme Court after he codedly begged for it.
