@ lunsat,some tp are found in most satelite frequency e.g 12303 is on nilesat, hotbird, eutelsat 16.
also the tp 12727 h 27500 is on all these satelite positions and ses5.
hence, if you have that tp on any sat where it is active, it will pop green but it showing will be dependent on your dish position and disec setting if multiple dishs.

if it pop up on 36east and you dont have a dish pointing to 4.8east after blindscannig, it will be red on zuku package channels, but green on all channels on 36east because of the presence of the dish @ 36east.

Stop mixing issues here. a dish is pointed to sirius @ 4.8E and after scanning, channels on Zuku package are scanned in, but when you go to such channels it shows "NO SIGNAL" and the signal bar is red.

I have also experienced this and very interested to know more or why.

Please house.

I've got a small STRONG dish and decoder that was previously hooked up to HiTV lying fallow. . .can I use it to get FTA stations? What are the things I need to do or buy to achieve this?

@pofolo: I know that the available frequencies in a band like KU or C are limited, hence the same frequencies are reused on different satellites to carry different channels as long as those sats are far apart so that people searching for a specific sat can not get confused and also to avoid interference between the channels. My confusion was when a channel is detected during blind scan and saved as say 12600v2000 but is red after the scan BUT can be found on the same sat when you do a tp scan on say 12111v2700 which is indicated for that channel on lyngsat. I have no explanation for this.

@Microgiant: Your case of say ZUKU channels scanning in on sirius 4.8E when WE KNOW they are not on that sat and are actually on NSS 12 66E. This might be a case of the signal bouncing off a building or wall. My theory is that stbs in scanning mode are more sensitive than when in normal reception mode. Hence they can detect weak signals bouncing off a wall (for a sat not located in front of the dish) during scan but after scanning the channel is red because the stb is now in a less sensitive reception mode. Just a theory.

May be it depends on your setup. I agree when I was tracking this satellite in readiness for Man U vs Madrid the frequency of Zuku even at 85% was alternating between red and green, never stable. After scanning all channels popped up and as I am writing the signal is very stable, green.

There is a Zuku package on Sirius 4.8E. We are getting it not from the signal bouncing off something.

to get zuku package on ses 5,just auto scan ur receiver with any zuku channel tp. Check www.lyngsat.com for a working tp.

You are right. Its actually on SES 5 @5E which is almost in the same place as Astra 4A(Sirius 4) @4.8E. But somehow I have never scanned it in.

Want to transmit 10 channels at a go. Many here in the campus consider owning a sat dish is expensive, so i want to use their attitude in my favor.

Hi polofo,

Well you have an interesting explanation to this phenomenon but i can tell you for a fact that in your case it is a fault. I used to face it years back and it's exactly as you had described it. You have multiple dishes but after you blindscan, one satellite's channel list will pop up on a different satellite name. After you save and exit all the channels will go red. It was strange at first but after i took my time to investigate, i found out that it usually happens when I'm using a damaged, inferior or weak diseqc switch. As soon as i replace it all those problems are solved. This behaviour also happens when you actually have a dish that is actually receiving that frequency(in it's normal operations)from the right direction and is connected to the same diseqc switch to which the other dish(not facing the right direction) is being scanned. In that case it's just a spillover over frequencies in the diseqc ports as proper band guard technology was not employed.

In my case my dishes are on Eutelsat 36B and SES 5 but in no way can the one on Eutelsat 36B receive the Zuku Package with my size of dish and even spill it over to the SES 5 ports. Hope you are getting my explanations now. This is a whole new phenomenon i intend to find out. Thanks anyway for your input. Made us all learn something new here.

DOES WITH DEAD STRONG DECODERS THIS YOU CAN REVIVED IT. 1.PAY A NEW PEN DRIVE 2.DOWNLOAD NEW SOFTWARE FOR YOUR DECODER ONTO IT 3.PRUG THE PENDRIVE ONTO THE DEAD DECODER 4.PRUG THE DECODER TO POWER WITHOUT PUTTING IT ON.5 .SWITCH POWER ON AT THE SAME TIME PRESS THE STANDY POWER BUTTON IN FRONT PANEL UNTIL IT START LOADING BEFORE LEAVING THE STANDY POWER BUTTON,IT WILL UPDATE AND BRING THE DECODER BACK TO LIVE, .......note...You should emty pendrive without and other files or software,enjoy ypirself,thank you

Good find. On issue of ic, its not worth changing a decoder ic just to stop an automatic downloads. Ic is like the brain box of any electronics. Dont change your ic just like that.

i want to buy an HH motor to motorize my 90cm dish,pls can anyone give me the name of any suitable HH motor that can be used in a low latitude country like nigeria.
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by Nobody: 10:01pm On Mar 07, 2013
Lunsat: Has anyone ever tried using an HH motor with C band LNB? I tried last weekend (Cband on 1.35 offset dish) and the LNB couldnt work. The sat finder goes to maximum and stays there and LNB is unresponsive. But when I bypass the HH motor everything is fine. Maybe someone knows a solution to this? By the way I used a strong combined C/KU lnb and the KU part worked but the Cband part behaved as described above.
c band lnb only worked with jack and not hh motor

@Microgiant,
@Perfect Nerd,
@Loluc90,
@All,

Its taken quite a while but finally this is what you've all been waiting for.

Below are tracking details for my revived 3-in-1 COMSTAR dish. Time has not been my friend and as at
Wednesday evening I was still busy with LNB changes, tweaking, adjustsments, etc (on the dish) just to
bring out the best possible signal quality. In all I should say my effort was worth it as I now have
a better result compared to when I started a couple of weeks back.

I had to change the SUPERMAX LNB with STRONG C BAND when I discovered loss of signal quality on 906/C
and NSS7/C and that was a new discovery for me (as we have always assumed Supermax c band lnbs to be
better in performance on circular polarised sats compared to strong lnbs).

NOTE: For circular polarised satelites it is now better to use STRONG C BAND LNB for tracking as
opposed to Supermax C band
. After several adjustments, where I was getting 48 - 50% signal quality
on supermax,immediately I changed to strong K5 lnb, signal quality jumped to almost 60% for EATV (906/C).
You can imagine the surprise on my face! smiley

Adex70 - this goes to you: Forget SUPERMAX C band for now and go for STRONG K5 or K6 for your motorised
set up. You will not regret it.

Ok, now to the details:
